No weight this morning, Did get over 10,000 steps yesterday. Making Egg Nog cheesecake cookies today for Kevin's Christmas tomorrow. A co-worker made them and said they were wonderful.....start with a gingerbread cookie base in a muffin tin (make a mini pie shell out of it) and then fill with whipped cream, egg nog, and cream cheese mixture. I didn't go wild on making Christmas treats this year so don't feel too guilty about doing this and better yet I will be taking to a party so hopefully not too many leftovers!

Stephanie.....I hear you on the hot flashes (and I think Cecily was lamenting about them too). Every. Dang. Night. I wake up several times a night just hotter than Hell and need to whip off the covers and sometimes even my PJs. I have been sleeping in summer PJs (like a slip) to help ward off too much discomfort. This getting old is for the birds!

You aren't going to want to hear this but I started having hot flashes in my early 40's, went through menopause at 47 and I STILL get them (at 63). My PCP says that I'm probably just one of those women who have them for the rest of their life. Lovely (not)! At least they aren't that frequent or severe as they were when I was 47.

Thank you, Paula. :)

For the record, I've not been afflicted with eternal hot flashes. I won the lottery on that one.

My only ongoing menopause symptom/challenge is insomnia. Before menopause I slept like the dead. After menopause, not so much. However, there were a lot of factors that kept me awake in my 50s and 60s -- high-pressure work for high-pressure clients, homecare of my mom for 8 years, work, caring for DH and being concerned about DH after he was diagnosed with cancer, and did I mention work? After a while, not sleeping long or well just became a bad habit.

I've learned a lot about sleep hygiene from Liz -- thanks, Liz! And all bad habits do respond, generally speaking, to replacing them with new good habits. These days, I'm sleeping better than I have in a long time. Not perfectly. Not every night. But better.

;)

Though I sometimes have a nearly sleepless night (usually due to stress) those sleep habits do get me back snoring the next night. I try to always honor them as good sleep makes everything better (and vice versa).

A new to me car sits in my driveway, it's most adorable feature: heated seats. Yes, I have labored all these years in the bold north without the bracing support of heated seats to beat back the beast known as winter.

My first dealership: I called to ask about a car I saw on the internet and set up an appointment to test drive it at 9am. While I was driving there, they texted it was actually at another site( which of course I didn't read until I arrived). They said they would text me again when it got shuttled to them. When I returned several hours later, the salesperson handed me the key, and directed me to go start the car, and then he would join me for the test drive. The car would not start. Was I doing it wrong? Was I on candid camera? The poor salesperson had to tell me the battery was dead, and came back out with a device to jump start it. My enthusiasm for the car waning, I started on the test drive. Then he said it was out of gas and asked me to pull into a gas station, and cautioned me not to turn off the car while he fueled it up. Guess which car I did not buy?!

I love heated seats! I sometimes even use them in the summer with the air conditioner on.

I'm glad that other car showed its true colors before you seriously considered it!

Heated seats are the best! Even in Southern California mine get a lot of use. My Michigan Jeep has a heated steering wheel too. Talk about heaven!
