Good morning and Merry Christmas!
I am up much earlier today than I'd wished, but that's what naps are for.
Somewhere over the South Pacific Santa's still working his long night shift and will soon turn his sleigh north and head home for strong, hot coffee and scones with jam. Since we were all good little girls or boys in 2018, I'm sure that Santa delivered what we were dreaming of or gave us the resources we need to make our own dreams come true in 2019.
Out of curiosity, I just checked MFP to see what I weighed on Christmas morning one year ago. Turns out I'm 2.2 pounds lighter today than I was then, so that's a sweet stocking gift for me.
Last night's Christmas Eve dinner was a little different but even better than I'd originally planned: a chicken breast with three-cheese risotto, steamed asparagus tips, and (cough!) three glasses of a magnificent chardonnay I'd been saving for this meal. Dessert was sliced mango and Greek yogurt flavored with Torani sugar-free French Vanilla syrup.
By the way, I followed these online instructions to cook simple boneless, skinless chicken breasts, which can be pretty dreadful, but turned out so much more delicious than any other method I've used to prepare them.
This morning I will join my sister's family for a Christmas morning brunch. The weather here will be crisp and sunny, perfect for a long country walk.
Today's theme: If you can't be with the one you love, honey, love the one you're with. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HH3ruuml-R4

Weight 123, calories unknown, but some of the eating last night was actually healthy: smoked salmon and caviar, ahi tuna, scallops and bacon. Today will be a little less healthy and wine abounded last night and probably will tonight.
The stockings are finally hung by the chimney, with care, but not until this morning! Luckily there wasn't much wrapping to do and so I finished that. I made 5.5 dozen almond ball cookies and one very good looking pumpkin pie. Both recipes were my mother's so DS asks for them every year. He makes the squash recipe DH always used to make and asked one SIL to make her traditional stuffed potatoes and the other SIL to make his other grandmothers apple pie recipe. Tradition is definely important to my children!
Have a wonderful Christmas Day my friends!!!

Greetings Christmas Angels
153 for me. Made it through the gallery shift - closed a little early. Brisk but manageable sales but I was glad to get home to a warm bowl of chili. I made chicken liver pate and this morning have to fix cheese crisps for this afternoon at our friends. So its just me and DH and the dogs this morning. A lovely sunny day which is our one day break from the rain.
Ann, your dinner sounds great. I will look at the chicken instructions. Frozen skinless chicken breasts from Costco are the bariatric staple.
Peps, glad you got some extra sleep and did the "man-scraping". I knew I was old when the hairdresser asked me if I wanted my eyebrows trimmed. Seems like older people get 3 inch long eyebrows! Only Santa can pull off that look.
Old dog Chip is out basking in the sun on the dec****pt Tesla in as she just bugs him all the time and he needs to bask. I think I will do some basking myself. In front of the tv.
Have a wonderful holiday everyone. OceanDiane I hope your absence means you are having a good christmas and not on the iv antibiotics. And I can almost hear Becca giggling on her first Christmas.
Cheers elves! Diane S
Merry Christmas to one and all!
Ann, that song sure stirred a memory. I didn't know it, but I knew it. I looked it up and saw it was released when I was 6 years old. Given that the tune reached #14 on the charts I'm sure I heard it on the radio quite a bit. Funny the melodies we remember that we don't know we know!
Being the son of a German my tradition is to celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. Our family Santas saw to it that our new trailer will be beautifully equipped! My father also gave me and my brother a "Christmas" present from my uncle. Unbeknownst to me, while my uncle named my father his sole heir, he instructed my father to divide his estate into thirds giving a third each to my brother and me with the remaining third staying with my pop. Pops gave my brother and me a little something from my uncle last night - could have knocked me over with a feather! I had no idea. Given my uncle's advanced stage of dementia the past year, he must have worked this out with my dad quite some time ago. Talk about feeling blessed!
It was so delightful having a baby in the house last night. My great niece Paisley celebrated her first Christmas. I loved shopping for baby stuff for her Christmas. Paisley's favorite gift of the evening was the stuffed pig from the Disney movie Moana. Of course, being the teacher, I had to get her books! So she got books - counting books, Berenstain Bears' Say Please and Thank You book, and a couple Little Golden Books (remember those?). I will have to find one of my childhood favorites to give her. It is called The Pokey Little Puppy.
It is a beautiful crisp, clear Christmas morning. We had a good deal of fog and heavy rain later in the day and into the evening yesterday. The smell of the outdoors is invigorating. I think a Christmas walk is in order! I don't think Ron will be up to it, so I may take the puppy for a little outing by myself.
Ron is still not well. He tires so easily, but he also isn't getting proper rest. I know that I can't really do anything about that, but I do suggest and urge him to make sure he gets adequate sleep. Yesterday he sat down and confessed his exhaustion. He told me he was so happy that I asked that we not go to his family's today. He is looking forward to just driving up the road 10 minutes to have Christmas at my brother's. My family is more laid back and low key than his and spending time there will be more relaxing for him (and me because I won't have to spend 3 hours of my day driving!).
The dogs and I are lolling about waiting for Ron to come home from Christmas mass.
Wishing you all a wonderful day filled with happiness and joyful memories of those no longer here to celebrate the day with you. Whether you are celebrating the birth of Jesus or honoring the the return of longer days and the growing season or simply enjoying the winter festivities, I hope that we all find a renewed strength in our sense of self today and in the year to come. We are a unique group of individuals who have come together under a single commonality only to discover so much more in our friendships than how to maintain weight.
The words of Dickens, "God bless us, everyone!"
I think I was 133.8 this morning - within the 2 lbs. that I have been staying in as of late for sure.
Quiet Christmas with the boys last night. Like Devon, we celebrate on Christmas Eve. Nothing on the docket for today. I actually pulled out the exercise DVDS and did "Walk strong" and Yoga. I can tell this body has not done either for a long time. My legs were shaking to beat the band with the yoga.
Feeling grumpy that my dating life has changed drastically since his DD has come home from college for the winter break. I need an attitude adjustment!
Healing vibes to Diane and Becca.

Merry Christmas everyone!
Yesterday was spent on my own and so far my dad and his wife haven't left their house and it's at least an hour drive (I thought they would be here around 10). So I think it'll be a quick eat and run Christmas for us. Trying not to take it personally.
It's a beautiful day here after a very brief rain. Gorgeous blue skies and puffy white clouds. My house is picked up and the tree lights are on. I have a nice dinner planned. So things could be worse!
I hope everyone is having a lovely day!
