Christmas Eve December 24, 2018
Greetings Cherished Ones
153 today. Christmas Eve and its POURING rain here. Supposed to let up in the afternoon. I wouldn't care except I have gallery duty - the desperate husband shift. I was to have a coworker but I told her not to come in. She is older and has health problems and if she caught my cold it would be a disaster. Half the gallery is sick now but not from me.
OceanDiane I am so sorry you got burned. Dang those cooktops! My mother's apt had one and I hated it too. One useful thing they did was keep a tea kettle atop the stove and place it on any burner that was hot but not in use. Anyway I sure hope you can mend without going in for IV antibiotics!! I know you will follow the instructions but what a bad time to have an injury. Glad you have good medical care.
DD hoping Becca gets better. Glad your cousin felt he could come to your place. Somehow it will all shake out.
Love seeing Justice in the snow. I had a cairn years ago who loved burrowing through it. I couldn't get her to come inside. I remember my old dog Tiger the first time at the beach. He picked his feet up like he was walking on hot coals!
Ann, sounds like a lovely family Christmas event. Someone else cooks and kids to entertain and you choose the wine. How is the eye doing?
As mentioned DH now has the cold but he seems to be less stricken than me. I made homemade chili last night for him as its his favorite (ulterior motive: no cooking for me tonight).
Would I be evil to eat a chocolate nut cluster for breakfast? Yeah I know - there is no evil in eating.
Well maybe more later. Gotta get the second cup of coffee. Diane S
Healing wishes to Becca and Diane O.
Clang, clang, clang went the trolley... The fun of sitting on the trolley going through the streets of SF with a group of wild in laws ranging in age from 9 to 81 singing Christmas Carols and wishing people on the street Merry Christmas made the Holiday Lights and Sights of SF tour worthwhile. Without the family "insanity" it really would not have been worth the fare. But I wore a synthetic and very cheap Santa hat (included in the price of the tour), sang out, was silly with the rest of them and had a good time.
We were so right to have skipped the dinner! It was a fiasco according to those who married into the family. I think for Ron's family, it was just more enjoyable and normal chaos. LOL! Ron and I grabbed dinner at a burger joint a block from Fisherman's Wharf after the trolley tour and spent less for the two of us than the cost of one a la carte burger at the place the family went. Can you imagine $32 bucks for a burger and fries. Sheesh!
I am officially behind in Christmas Eve preparations. I weighed the comfort of my cozy bed on a chilly and foggy morning against getting up and on with the day being somewhat unrested. The bed WON! Yay! I'm really not concerned about getting it all done. It always does and everyone is happy. I realized some years ago that I'm the only one who seems to expect perfection when I host. So, I don't worry about it being perfect anymore. Good is just fine.
No idea what my weight is this morning, but I know from yesterday and the day before that if I am to make my weight goal of less than 250 by New Year's Day, I will have to seriously be out of the food hole on 12/26. The hardest thing for me right now is getting enough water. I don't know why getting water in is such a chore recently. Lately, if I get 24 oz. in I'm doing well. Twice this week I didn't really even have a full 8 oz. I shall work on getting 24-40 oz in today. That is a noble goal.
Okay, so since we are a most nonjudgemental group.... All y'all ladies talk about your self care... getting your nails done, getting your color touched up and such, well, yesterday was man care day for me. While Ron was at church I spent time trimming and filing my nails, softening the dog grooming callouses, and trimming my old man body hair. I realized the other day how long my chest hair had gotten and how OLD that looks - especially with gray mixed in! So, took the trimmers out and trimmed it down so I now have a nicely groomed chest. Not shaved, just neatened to a 1/2 inch length. Cracks me up that they now have a name for such hygiene - Manscaping! LOL! (BTW, manscaping must be a common word because the OH spell check doesn't even register it as a misspelled word!)
Well, if there is French onion soup to be savored tonight, I must go shopping. Oh... The sun is poking through, too. Delightful.
Merry, merry everyone.
LOVE the trolley Christmas festivities and photographic evidence. :) And I think the bed should always win.
And "perfection" is Satan's fantasy.
Merry Christmas, Devon. :)

What a fun thing to do (riding the trolley). Manscaping! Like landscaping? Is there Womanscaping? Can't help but chuckle
