Weight 123.4, calories lots. I was nervous over the trip today so did some grazing and had some wine. Not good, but not as much as I woiled have in the past?

I'm HOPING DH is manageable today. He will be up 5 hours earlier than normal and even though he went to bed an hour or so earlier last night that isn't going to fully compensate. But Justice is relaxed even after sniffing his pet bag. I'm going to get him certified as an emotional support dog when home (on JetBlue and Allegiant forms since those are the airlines we fly most). He truly is one now and it will save cost and some angst.

In the 6 days to Christmas (!), I have to put up a tree, 2 wreaths, my carolers and probably the nativity set. I'm hoping I can at least set the tree up today and have DH start putting ornaments on it while I get my hair cut. We will see...

Have a winning Wednesday!

This group helped me more than you could know !! PEPS, your insights about harmony with your Recliner Rock (to be known as RR) were so helpful. I knew all of that ... I could suggest that advice readily to others, but to myself ... Miss 150, your comments made me think of capturing sunshine when there is none...and creating that sunshine when need be. You are all demonstrating such CAN DO spirits, from travel with a declining DH, to recovery, to getting holiday things done (albeit it with the help of Jewish friends), to beating back a nagging cold, to beating back floods, to gearing up for the masses to descend, to training to leap mountains in a single bound, to living with a RR, to packing for serious NOLA writing, to managing entertaining while pregnant & toddler chasing... we are all simply amazing !!

Awww group hug. Love our little group.

Weight: 171.4. Well that wasn't nice! Talk about a skyrocket. Hopefully just a blip.

I don't feel like I'm killing it over here. I can tell I'm putting too much on myself, DH, and Becca and yet I'm like a maniac and don't know how to stop!! Definitely need to learn how to prioritize and minimize and just enjoy. But that's so not my nature.

I know my weight is up yesterday because I was so hungry! And it was my dad's birthday dinner. But I think a nice time was had by all. Both my parents' birthdays fall between Thanksgiving and Christmas and they can both feel a little down that they don't want to "burden" people into having to take time to celebrate their birthdays. we did a nice, well-attended dinner for both of them this year and presents, etc. And even in their sixties I think they appreciated the heck out of it!

It's weird (maybe uncomfortable?) how family dynamics change. If you should know one thing about me, it's that I DON'T like change. Not one bit. My whole life we did Christmas eve as the big thing with cousins, aunts and uncles, grandparents at my grandmother's house and then Christmas day at home with my parents. As we got to be adults and after my granddad passed away, we did both at my mom's house. The past couple of years my sister opted to stay home with her kids, which was sad not to have any kiddies around for Christmas, but we embraced it and the last two years we did "childfree Christmas Eve" at my parents house with aunts and uncles and cousins. It was actually REALLY lovely! We had no agenda, nobody going to bed early or cranky, or not eating the food. But this year my sister is bringing the kids back for Christmas (yay!) but my aunt and uncle just announced they're doing their own thing Christmas eve with their grandkids. totally understandable and even mostly expected but I can't help but feel slightly sad. Ugh why!!! My nieces will be there and my daughter will. The emphasis will probably be exactly where it should be since our families are getting bigger. But I guess when they announced it, it felt like a little piece of my own Christmas tradition finally died. And maybe it won't be this way every year. And I"m so thrilled to have everyone else here to celebrate. I was just really caught off guard by my honest feeling on it. I saw them last night so it's not like we don't see them enough as it is!

Liz-hope you can get it all done, but more importantly, I hope you enjoy the process

Diane O.-Hope you have better luck with DC today.

Diane S.-bummer on the cold. Keep pumping those fluids.

I hate change too!!! Over my lifetime, my Christmases have gone from lively tables of 12+ to dinner with my dad and his wife, which is very nice, but not the festive fun I grew up on. Change is hard...

It is hard for anyone to have traditions change. For 20 years we went to a friends on Christmas Eve and hosted 15-20 family members at our home for Christmas Day. It was crazy and fun especially when all the kids were young. But then they grew up, we moved, my MIL died and our west coast family started to stay home at Christmas. From 2014-2017, we were a sad small, quiet group at my SIL's home usually with one child or more missing. This year there will be 16 there! All the children are coming including the newly engaged couple. 5 of the 16 are close friends. I am really looking forward to it and hope that it will be a good one for DH as I feel it may be the last one he will really be "present" for.

The power of nuts! (or is it the salt?)

Have fun, Liz, with the Christmas decorating- stay in the moment and enjoy every pretty bauble.

I had a perfectly wonderful time last night with the funchums - the group has been in existence for over 35 years, and I am a latecomer at about 24. Much sharing and caring on the way.

EEnjoy the season, savor the day, and give thanks for everything. It's all good.
