Its even worse than it looks. Lights flash, things move, and there is music. But she shuts it off at a reasonable hour. ds

I find there are many and varied uses for knitting needles.....

Tee Hee. I would have considered the knitting needles but we really can't see it from inside and its not loud. She is a nice old lady so we value getting along with her. But yeah, the stuff is butt ugly. ds

Prison psychologist! I spent 2 years in the mid nineties as a case manager/ counselor at a minimum security (alternative to prison opportunity for young men ages 18-26) boot camp program. I must say that the thinking process of the criminal mind is totally different from the average well adjusted-law-abiding citizen. For example: That (fill in car, jewelry, whatever) really isn't yours. You are simply holding it for the thief. "Thank you very much, I'll take it now, and by the way, since you probably are insured, no harm done". In regards to anger issues, it is common and appropriate to help them understand that their anger often is generated because they didn't get what they wanted (projecting the blame on others, situation, society, law enforcement...) What IS NOT appropriate is that that psychologist evidently thought that every one's anger is generated out of that criminal thinking. How foolish. There are some excellent books on the subject if one is interested--Inside the Criminal Mind by Stanley Samanow (sp?) for one.

All of my little projects are done for the day. DH did lube the treadmill belt, and walkies done- it is dreary and raining outside- booo. I have some desk work to sort out, but no ambition to open up the box and look inside at the moment. Guess I'll just enjoy the peace of the day and see where it takes me.

Wishing a joyful day to all! Stephanieplum, I hope you're doing well and are comfortable. Carry on with the healing!

In the book he talked about lack of a conscience and family ties as well as other background issues which inform many criminal's personalities resulting in an inability to be "rehabilitated". But not in a cohesive coherent manner. It would have been a better read if he delved a little further into this.

Good Morning All - Well Hooley Dooley yesterday afternoon sure turned out eventful. We had massive storm cells - one after another after another. Just after lunch the back area water reached the back door of our mini house and started coming inside. I was racing to put towels there. Rang DH and he came home straight away. We spent the afternoon trenching to try and drain the water - you can only get soaked to the skin once right. Ran the fire trailer to pump out the water from a 3 ft trench we had dug to run cables earlier this month- the dam flooded causing huge volumes of water to flush over our driveway - one side of it has been left with lots of channels - weekend will be spent repairing it. Expect it will be a truckload of gravel at least. We are bracing for more over the next 24 hours as Cyclone Owen is due to hit Queensland tonight - the flow on from this will be more rain for us down south. Spare boat anyone?

Hoping for a quieter day today - to be honest I could use it to regroup a little. Been a crazy few days between broken down vehicles and storms

I will try and pop on again over the weekend. Expect we will have a lot of our family over helping us fix up various areas of damage - picture below

Take care all

Shirley

Oh, Shirl! That is too much excitement --- I am sorry for the storm damage! I'm hoping that Cyclone Owen loses strength.

Thanks Shel - Its been a rough few days but we have faired much better than lots. My SIL didnt make it home yesterday (had to stay in Hotel near work)- roads flooded - people stranded on the roofs of their cars and had to be airlifted out. Main highway closed due to flooding - they had over 6 inches of rain in a little over 24 hours.Owen is expected to hit Queensland later tonight - I pray for all those in his path.

Amazing to think how far reaching the effects of a cyclone goes - top end of Australia and we are down the bottom

Mind blowing
