VSG Maintenance Group
Sunday December 9, 2018
Weight about 122, calories about 1500. Not a weightloss day... Today we are going to a friends to watch the New England Patriots play. Always fun with a small group.
It was super warm last night so I walked a bit around the block with Justice after dark. There are a lot of Christmas lights! Here are a few of the highlights. The bottom one is next door. Have a relaxing day!

Good morning,
I'm thinking back to when I was diagnosed with CA 9.5 years ago and a million kind people - the best people in the world - said to let them know if I ever needed anything.
Do you think those offers still stand? The house needs sweeping, my personal junk is laying about, the dishwasher needs emptying and (if not too much trouble) it sure would be swell if they could reload the dishwasher with the dirty dishes in the sink. (Cuz, heaven knows, I'm not going to hand wash them.) I could to it, sure. But, I'm sprawled out on the loveseat with a blankie, much as I was 9.5 years ago.
I don't know how many hours I worked last couple of weeks, but it was a lot.
Pics from yesterday's training hike. You have all been this trail a hundred times so I forgive you if you feel like you have seen these trees before. I'm bit tired of being TOLD by my training plan to do stuff. Then I remember how grateful to be spoon-fed a plan and all I have to do is show up. My calendar reminds me that the Mt Rainier thing is 27 weeks away.
Another upper tier 1st world problem. I wore a new beanie yesterday and when it got wet (sweat and sprinkles) there was a faint odor of my good friend, Mr Stink-eye. I'll wa**** and retry. It was made in Nepal and proceeds go to Sherpa community (That's right, I'm that kind of shopper, much to my parent's dismay) It may prove to be a bit too authentic for my sensitive nose. (What is wrong with Nepalese sheep? Is it their diet?)
I am looking forward to a fabulous week.
Let there be Peace. (As well as a house tidied by me, cuz I am grateful to be able to)

Weight 251, so it's going the right direction. I really must greet the new year under 250.
Liz, what a festive neighborhood to walk with Justice.
Shel, is the trail going through a mostly deciduous forest? Or is it a mix of deciduous and coniferous trees? I don't usually think of the PNW as anything but covered in conifers, but the brown leaves in your photos tell a different story.
Today is tattoo day. I'm excited. We had the consult Friday and the tattoo artist was so taken by my sketch she asked if I wouldn't mind if she copied my drawing and just changed the banner at the bottom. She was very sweet and said that she felt my sketch captured the emotion of our relationship, pointing to how I drew his eye. Jackson had great expressive eyes, so I tried to capture what I could with my limited skills.
I made my goal of working out 5 consecutive days this week. Pretty awesome. My legs finally felt back to normal yesterday because just now I realized I didn't think about them yesterday. LOL
Last night I joined the ranks of Dog Show Trailer Trash! LOL! The sofa folds down and is a platform for the Murphy bed tucked up in the wall behind it. It's only 4200 pounds, so an easy tow for my van.
Picture of tattoo will follow tonight.
That was quite a compliment your tattoo artist gave you....pretty amazing to capture the emotion of your relationship in your drawing.
I'm excited about your latest purchase. I see something like that in our future in the next few years.
Warning, I am not much of a plant person but here is my stab at your question. Most of what I hike thru is a mix of trees of varying ratios. Usually conifers (Douglas fir, I think, in this case) make up the backbone. A deciduous understory is usually present tho they fizzle out at higher elevation. The deciduous trees provide a lot of the forest green so this time of year it sometimes looks dry. Tho when you are standing in it, it is CLEARLY VERY WET!
Those pics were at the lowest elevation and near a lake/wetlands --- both of those characteristics support more deciduous plants, in my simplistic thinking. This mtn was heavily logged over the decades, which I imagine also shaped the flora. At the top of this lowish mtn (2500 ft?) there are deciduous trees but not enough to create a carpet of brown leaves.
Earlier this year, Buster and I stopped into a State Park near DD's cross country meet and it was almost all deciduous ---the majority being big leaf Maple. It felt like Iowa in there. It was fall, and there were lots of dry giant maple leaves for Buster (a natural low rider) to plow thru. Good fun.

The bunks are for the dogs. Usually I travel with a single dog, maybe two for showing. Sometimes I bring one or two along for the ride (Jackson used to get to come along just because he was my boy). I also have room in the van for 5-6 crates, so if need be, a dog can stay in the van. I can also turn the dinette into a bed for the dogs, which I just may do, too.
ERMAGERD, PEPS! This is fabulous!
I so love that you went out and DID this. :)
