Such sad news for your school and community. This week on the slippery snow day, there was a fatal accident near my high school. I thought please don't let it be one of our students. (It wasn't, but it was a college aged student who will be deeply mourned). There is a special kind of outpouring of grief at school when the students lose one of their own.

Greetings Gorilla Maintainers;

153 today. I actually braved the shopping mall to go to Bed Bath and Beyond. The pouring rain let up just long enough. The store wasn't bad but the parking lot was packed. Not sure where everyone was but not in BB and B. Have to go back today because the dumb sheet package was mismarked. Also scrabble party today even though turnout will be low. Gotta go pick up some su****o take.

Ann glad you got that eye taken care of and that there was no wait at the ER. Gorilla-cillin indeed! Those mega butt shots can be sore for awhile. I used to get them as a kid. Fly to Chicago indeed and have a great celebration.

Shel good on you for doing gorilla-hike. And good on you for helping Ann and all with your knowledge. So sorry for DD's loss of friend. Too many kids (and adults) are lost to gun violence these days. Hope the missing boy is found safe. Enough tragedy.

Liz I am sure you are right the extra pounds are water. Trust.

Well gotta get moving and get to scrabble. Enjoy the day. Diane S

The day after the snowstorm, and the roads are open. Minnesota excels at plowing, sometimes too well. Being snowbound is short lived, and you're kind of obligated to carry on, even if the conditions are quite a bit less than optimal, because that's what we do here in The Bold North. (We tried rebranding ourselves for the Super Bowl last year). But I don't have any obligation to go anywhere, except outside to shovel the driveway. DH had to go into work, so I took care of it, but a stern talk about getting the snowblower fixed (again!), is coming his way. I suppose I could have left it for him, but it will be cold and dark when he gets back, and hey, it's a good full body workout!

This eating more whole foods thing has a bit of magic to it. I feel physically and mentally better, and my weight is creeping down ever so slowly with no real sense of deprivation. The other night when I was out, everyone was ordering dessert. I was fine without it, but the others looked a little distressed that "they were eating in front of me". I decided to order a decaf cappuccino and everyone was happy, me because I love cappuccino, my friends because it now appeared I was having a treat too. I think this a strategy I can use going forward, especially if I am tempted to give into food I hadn't planned for.

Isn't it funny, i.e., not in the comical way, when OUR eating decisions activate other people's eating issues? We aren't the only ones with eating issues.

"The Bold North". I like it.

People are very funny about someone not joining in on dessert. As Ann said, we aren't the only ones with issues with food. I like having coffee when others have dessert, too.

My urge to eat at night has been strong, but I've been keeping to my current plan. These Freshly meals are yummy. I've been breaking out the gum at night when I want to chew and know I've eaten enough. I often wonder why, when having my eating under control makes me feel so relaxed and at peace, do I let myself get so out of control? That must trip some trigger for me too...?

Liz, yur scale is not being fair! Your calories are so low to not see some response. Maybe tomorrow will be the payoff...

Ann, your poor eye! Sounds like one of those thnigs where you never realize how much you blink in a day until your eyelid is inflamed!

Shel, bet you'll be so proud of yourself after the hike, but those conditions would make any of us whine!

Diane, you brave soul... BB&B twice on a Sunday in December??

Off to walk up a big hill with my friend!

Glad the Freshly meals are working out! Good for you for turning to gum, I should try that.....

I felt a bit better about my body today.....it seemed much more able to handle the extra weight load required by the training plan. (Apparently, those people know what they are doing....)

But, before I had a chance to feel all proud of myself, I happened to come across a record set for summiting Mt Rainier by a Mtn Runner.....it took him just 30 more minutes to go pretty much twice the distance and elevation of my hike today!!!!! He only took water and an ice ax....no pack. Can you even imagine what that would look like???? Gods walk among us mere mortals.

Considering I did 5 18 minute miles today and my hips were tired at the end, I cannot imagine what that would look like! Some people seem less susceptible to gravity than I do...
