I had a great post-storm walk on the beach with friends yesterday afternoon. We had a picture taken by a Christmas tree on the beach. When I saw it, it instantly deflated me. I look like a giant next to the two of them. Not just a whole lot taller, but so much wider - just enormous and looming over them, not fat. Amazing how a single picture can suck any good feelings right out of me. It happened last weekend with a hiking picture. I felt really good about myself and what I accomplished and then a photo sent after totally ruined it for me. Knowing photos are 95% likely to bum me out, I ought to avoid cameras at all costs! I suppose the true answer is self-acceptance, but I struggle with that.
It's so beautiful today after the rain and the air is so crisp and clean! Walking the dog, there was an Asian man running with a mask on. So many of the people from China (and there are a lot, so I see it daily) wear breathing masks here. I wanted to tell him the air will never be cleaner than right after a rainstorm, so he ought to suck it in and enjoy it. But I think they are conditioned to protect themselves from the horrendous air in China and they think it's the same here. Such a strange culture clash!
The rest of my day is TBD, which I love. So many possibilities or I can do nothing which can be just as good!
