Such a wonderful story of family closeness. It is so very difficult to cultivate that if it wasn't modeled for you as a child. I am so impressed by you!

Oh thank you. It is the thing I am most proud of. Growing up I did have places of refuge, like my Aunt's house, and later, friend's houses. And then therapy. Families are all so complicated. One of my favorite quotes about families is from Prince of Tides," and yet I loved them in all their flawed, outrageous, humanity." Kind of sums it up.

Thank you for trusting us with your story. Your description of your day yesterday proves that you have much of which to be proud. There is no doubt in my mind that you broke the cycle.

I love this description of your family and how close you are. It is hard to overcome our own beginnings when they are difficult.

My two youngest were never close when young, but now they actually talk on the phone and hang out late when at home talking, which I love.

Diamond, your comments about your mother and the relationship you had-worked on-have touch my inner child's heart. You see her anytime I post- my avatar. With me, the dysfunction originated with my father's alcoholism-his childhood dysfunction yadayadayada--so true that the onus is often put upon the shoulders of the grown children to strive for and grow health. We must be lucky, or graced or something to have overcome to the extent we have. My dad is a recovering alcoholic of 34 years now (no shaming here I followed the same path with food, **** you name it...) Recovery has and will take my whole life long. When I think of the grace extended me, I weep with gratitude. Some of my sisters and brothers haven't had that chance yet.

My dad is the best grandpa ever! My relationship with him the same. Health begets health. So happy to read of your overcoming- thriving and growing healthy human beings who are and will be able to go out and beget more love and health.

Yep, this is my thanksgiving musing for this Thanksgiving. Thank you for the joy you've spread my way today. bonnie

Good morning,

To set the mood, I asked Alexa to play shuffle music from Straight no Chaser......everybody do-doot and bah-be-bah as you read.

Ann and Paula, I often think of you both as we move thru holidays, and honestly, time in general. Hugs to the both of you, I wish I had something more substantial to offer. Originally from Iowa, midwest, that means comfort food...I'm thinking chocolate bundt cake with a glossy frosting would hit the spot. We would have it with coffee. Now from Seattle, it would not be Folgers.

B150!!!!! Look at you, typing away! So glad to hear that you start off strong and then rest when needed. I'm glad the surgery went as well as could be expected and massively better than if you hadn't lost the goo! Don't answer this next question if it crosses a line....but did they send off samples for pathology or maybe that wasn't needed? Apologies for even asking....I have had many this and that sent off for testing and it was freaking scary every time.

BB, I'm excited about this next baby....get some rest, would you?

In fact, all of you, get some rest!

I have done some on-line shopping, much of it for me, because I am pretty self centered. I picked up a couple of bigger ticket items at 30% off for the Rainier thing (It isn't selfish if I am saving the family 30%, right???) I'm glad to see the 30% off, but even happier that the jacket isn't black or hideous hunter orange. One shouldn't have to pay big bucks for colors that don't make you feel happy.

Ok, must get a move on.....I have 1.25 hours of going up and down stairs wearing 21 lbs, looking like a terrorist in my weight vest. I carry a Starbucks cup as an accessory to signal that I am safe, and not packing a million rounds of ammo.

Pause to let that soak in....1.25 hours of going up and down the same flight of stairs, over and over. I'm listening to Michelle Obama's new book currently. (Thumbs up) I carry plenty of other stuff to listen to, too.

DianeO, I'm interested in what this activity planner does for you. You must be mulling over all the possibilities. Personally, I think consistency of effort, over a long period of time, trumps all. Keep it easy.

Enjoy the day!

Shel
