Good morning!

No cougar sightings yesterday. Who knows if there was one watching us. DianeS, I do take all manners of trail safety seriously. That was a terrible attack in your area. Good for that woman for fighting back under extreme cir****tances. Ann, weapon up, as needed. I hate that feeling of being watched and tend to believe it is real.

I ate more than normal yesterday but not as much as I have in the past. I wasn't a purist or anything, but mostly stuck with things I love, rather than everything on the plate. I had seconds that I wished I hadn't. I do plan to stay out of the leftovers and the dessert I loved (apple crisp) is gone.

I see I have a 7am patient scheduled now. Rats. I hoped to start an hour late so I could still fit in my workout --- I guess it will have to be after work, instead.

DianeS, your car's windshield rhythm makes me wonder if the traditional rhythm will become a thing of the past like a rotary phone dial.

Enjoy the day, all!

Shel

This morning I did 5 windshield wipers (4 yesterday). Little bit, every day, getting better, in every way. :)

"OK- Overday, the spirits are about to speak".

"Are they friendly spirits?"

"Friendly? Just listen". -The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show

Whoop hoo-- I read through all posts above AND tracked them moderately well. One of the crazy hangings on is my incredible lack of focal ability. The other is a feeble weakness in my hands. Kboarding is a crazy exercise in coordinating brain to hand signals. I have a new understanding of how, over time, little old people just stop writing anything but their signatures on checks, let alone sign a card, or write a message. I'm

For those who lament your Thanksgiving feasting, don't. I hope you all tasted and experienced joyfully every bite of nummy gift that passed your mouth with abundant appreciation. I'm not talking about overeating stuff (but if so- no shame). Food is tasty for good reason. And, just to make you feel a bit better about what your scale may be telling you this morning or next--

I came home with a 15# scale gain. Heeywaaaaaa . 130 to 145 Step up to the plate and take a mighty swing at that one, Casey! Yes, yes, I know it's all water weight- but, I even freaked the nurses out. No surprises here, did the same with the sleeve.

OK- so, then, I am all so serious about this, I truly felt y'all with me - and for me - all the while positive and you would not believe the chorus of prayers lifted up and still. I remain overwhelmed and loved.

Kurt and the kids were and are wonderful-- it is too much for me to take in, except to be gratefully accepting of God's love through all.

The nitty gritty- Surgery was shorter than expected. Evidently having no fat at all deep inside all that goo is a wonderful thing. Also, they thought they were going to have to deal with scar tissue from gall bladder surgery and my anchor tummy tuck. (Here's a miracle-- there was none- none.) Everything they were going to take, they did, but did not have to take as much of. Did lose the pylorus.

I'm relatively comfortable, having been splayed down the gut (poor plastic surgeon would have a heart attack if he could see what has become of his handiwork). And I start out ok in the morning, but play out really fast as the day goes on. Eating 6 or 7 times a day is exhausting. Totally protein forward for healing. Doing well there, but having a hard time getting in requisite calories in. Am making pro shakes with milk -33g.pro for 240 cal. Steering clear of fats for the moment, and, ****no nuts with all the stitching on the inside piping. Have been supplementing with yikes- crackers--toast-- need soluble fiber. Am going to try avocado today. Suggestions appreciated.

HOO-rah! Bonnie, that's all great. Such interesting information about the insides of your body. I love that **** Every time anyone does surgery on me, I beg them to let me watch -- or at least video it for later viewing. And if that doesn't happen, then definitely photos. Photos reveal so very much color in my innards. Every organ seems to be a different hue -- just like the charts on doctors' examination walls.

Anyway, back to you ... 15 pounds is a lotta lotta water retention, child. I bet your complexion looks fabulous. :)

Re fiber, I've found that really good whole grain breads (of course, sounds like you can't have any seeds right now) can pack a lot of fiber. I assume you want the fiber so you can (eventually) go #2, right?

I'm so glad you felt our prayers, vibes, oms and good wishes for you. Because we sure were sending them to you. Still are. But now we're just hoping for a #2.

LOL!

Welcome back!

Ann

BTW, DianeO -- I would really like your dressing recipe. I am DONE with bread and cornbread dressings. Ugh.

Greetings All!

Yay Bonnie Bonnie Bonnie is Back Back Back! So glad to hear things went well and that you are healing and that they didn't take as much stuff as expected. Yeah keep at the fluid. Too bad you can't just eat ice cream but I get it that too much fat won't work. What about oatmeal for fiber? (with brown sugar). So grateful that you are healing.

Well DH is out to lunch and its absolutely pouring rain. We had a great thanksgiving at our friends house. I used to hate family Thanksgivings because crazy Pat was such a kitchen witch. Since my brothers are far away its nice to have a "chosen" family to spend time with. The only leftovers I brought home was a little turkey. I did eat a small slice of pumpkin pie which had sugared pecans on top but otherwise ate appropriately. DH overdid it and I had to drive us home where he promptly barfed. He has done this before - just can't seem to remember he will overdo it. As Dr. Cirangle says "its a guy thing". Sort of like Pimple Boots.

Shel glad you take cougar precautions. Pistol Packin' Ann, glad you do too. Its not like bears where they will stay away if they are not surprised or with cubs. Cougars will stalk you. I have a friend who lives in the woods and has lost a cat or two to the mountain lions. She has had to close off her cat door since the cougars would wait outside and the cat door was like a drive through window! They say if you are confronted by a cougar to make yourself look large by raising arms. Time for a superhero cape for hiking.

Liz glad you had a nice dinner out. Sounds perfect. And good for you Diane O for coming up with a bread free stuffing. Stuffing is just a way to get rid of old stale bread. Gotta admit I love the stuff and ate a little yesterday.

Football today and studio visit. Hope some kilns are running to make it toasty there. Diane S

Supercape to ward off cougars is NOT a bad idea.

Nor is a T-Rex hologram! Bet that would back up a cougar. LOL!
