  1. Within Range: Yes
  2. General Wellbeing: 8 on SS
  3. 10,000+ Steps: 3285
  4. Fitness: grocery shopping
  5. Self-Care: scheduled massage for next week ; became Rodan and Fields consultant
  6. Play/Leisure: Knitting
  7. Intention: Live in the moment !

I have to say that all of the intense training and devotion to a fitness regimen initially intimidates me and lets those "less than" tapes start up. I choose to capture your energy to inspire and motivate me to JFDI !! I am slowly reducing my activity as DC eases into retirement and is home all of the time. I am not carving out enough time to do what I need to do for me. His surgery in early Dec. means a catheter for three weeks, and his hip procedure in early January means six weeks on crutches. Grocery shopping under fitness !!?? Gotta get a handle on this !!

Grateful for all of you, your wisdom and your strength !!

LOL! "Grocery shopping under fitness!!??" That's funny. But it IS steps!

Practicing consistently (every day!) with gradual increases is what works for me.

And putting MYSELF and my needs first. I did that just before WLS, and I swear to all the gods named, worshipped, and wars fought over ... nobody noticed! In my case it wasn't that anyone else was stopping me from attending to my needs first. It was ME doing it.

BTW, I think you do so many of the right things, DianeO. :) Just look what you've accomplished!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I am grateful for each and every one of you!!!!!!! B150, I am thinking of you particularly today.

About DH's: Lesa, OMG pimple boots! Don't even get me started. He wears them to work and I avert my eyes like a little kid who has been told "don't stare at the disability!"

In other news, DH has taken a bit of interest in Thanksgiving prep this year. I had forgotten what that looks like and it feels good. (By the way, his family comes over, not mine.)

On the other hand, he says that if DD can't scuba with him in Mexico then "the trip is off." DD has asthma and there is a pretty good chance that scuba is a sketchy activity for her since hers is triggered by activity and cold. She was pulled out of Cross Country race because of asthma exacerbation this year. We will meet with specialist for information/guidance. But, it is hard for me to imagine that he will give the go-ahead so I have been trying to help DH understand that she might not be able to do it for health reasons, even tho she wants to.

In the background of all this, I wouldn't allow DD to scuba when she was 12 and they were going to Florida. (She turns 18 in a few days) DH was very angry back then, thought me incredibly unreasonable, and brings it up on a regular basis. He holds grudges forever.

Canceling the trip over this smacks of my-way-or-the-highway which runs strong in DH, even under the best of times. But, to apply it to DD, asthma and deep under the water??? WTF? Why can't it be good enough to snorkel?

Does he not SEE how inappropriate his thinking is? Is it his depression? I can hardly bare to think I am married to someone who puts his "dream" of scuba-ing with DD above her health. (I would pay good money for someone to kidnap him and make him see a counselor. I suppose I could see one......)

Also, he knew asthma would require a waiver but never bothered to do a quick google search for more info or mention it to me. (He told DD who told me) There is tons of info on it on-line He won't take time off work to go to specialist appt. This whole thing is full of land mines. (DianeO, can you relate?????)

Ok, enough of that rant. Overall, his depression/anxiety are improved with medication. I am grateful for that.

I'm hiking with my neighbor (who bikes on Mt Rainier for fun) at sunrise this morning. I wish we were going even an hour later but I am thrilled she can come on Thanksgiving.

But....on my mind: early hours plus dark in trees equals cougar-time. Also playing on my mind is that we will be hiking on a trail close to where there was a cougar attack/death within the last year. I was hiking this very trail when I got a text saying "where are you, there has been a cougar attack" from this same neighbor. This trail isn't any more dangerous than others, and I have been on it a million times since. Still, I remember.

So, family holiday, some brewing family strife, and cougar-anxiety. And, I am STILL GRATEFUL! Life is good

Love you all,

Shel

Good morning, Vietnam! :) Sometimes I imagine Robin Williams screaming that out, and it makes me grin. Because we're all fighting our own deeply personal wars it's appropriate anywhere anytime!

This morning I've turned on the Yule Log television channel and am playing Pentatonix holiday songs on my laptop. Their music and harmonies are amazing! For those who have Amazon Prime Music, check out "A Pentonix Christmas": https://music.amazon.com/albums/B01MAYIBVT/CATALOG?ref=dm_wc p_albm_link_trsnpt

As predicted, it's a gorgeous day here with a full moon coming on tonight. BTW, full moon and Thanksgiving dinner right after midterm elections - whose idea was that?! :)

Last night was our last book club meeting of the year, and everyone adored "The Boys in the Boat." Shel, you can tell all Seattleites that we Ozarkians are now boosters of UW crewing. We'll send money soon. ;)

Starting tomorrow and for the next ten days I'm going to drop my daily cals down to 1,200 and finally get rid of these three pounds that are bugging me. I'll raise my daily steps by 1,000 every day until I get to 15,000 and stick there for a while. I'll continue with yoga @ home and go back to yoga class next week. And I swear I'm going to drink eight damn glasses of water every single day! I'm ready to see some room between my skinny pants and my derriere.

Thanksgiving Week theme: I am grateful to each of you for being here, standing together. Thank you so much!

Hmmm...Alexa said she couldn?t find any Christmas songs by Pentatonix (though she had other songs)?

CORRECTION: Apparently she couldn't understand me! It is playing now.

Happy Thanksgiving to all you wonderful OH VSG Maintenance peeps! I am so grateful and thankful for your camaraderie, commiseration, celebration, and acceptance! I love our honesty and this wonderfully safe place to share our truths.

New scale chose to overlook the fact that I "jogged" 2.5 miles on the elliptical yesterday. Instead, she decided to remind me that movie popcorn is salty and fatty. She's such a *****! But, I still love her honesty! 247 today.

Movie - Boy Erased. Liz and Paula, it is a must see for you both. The movie is based on the memoirs of Garrard Conley's experience with conversion therapy. The cast is fantastic. Nicole Kidman plays the mother beautifully - her transformation is subtle, but very powerful. Russell Crow...well, I don't think I have ever seen him be so not Russell Crow. Ron said this is the best role he's ever done. I have to agree. By the end of the film, well, there is no Russell Crow, only the father who is at war with himself over the love he has for his son and his religious beliefs.

Paula - my bad for omitting you on part 1 yesterday! I know this year of firsts is terribly difficult. I watched my dad go through it. Heck, I went through it as a son. There is nothing any one of us can say to make it better. You just have to feel the feels and it does get better and easier. I'm betting Ann is going through much the same. Please know we love you here and are always here for you.

Must get off my butt and start making the dressing/stuffing. I am creating my own recipe this year! OMG! I'm doing a basic stuffing with sage and sausage, but have decided to experiment by adding dried apricots and prunes. Hmmm...

Greetings Thankful Ones

No weight today. Thankful for that. And thankful I don't have to cook the whole dinner and can be leftover free. Thankful that I can sit here and drink coffee and didn't have to get up at the crack of dawn to stuff an ice cold partially frozen turkey so it could be done on time. IMHO the best way to cook a turkey is to buy an unfrozen turkey breast, cook it in one of those turkey roaster bags and use the juice from it to make gravy. Stuffing in a pan. Truly the lazy cooks way.

Grocery shopping used to be my ONLY exercise. I could only go to one store in a day and then had to lie down. Back in the midwest the grocery stores were enormous and if you went up and down every aisle I bet it was over a mile.

Shel I think you are right about your daughter not doing scuba. Yeah snorkeling is just fine. I'd stand firm on this one but I guess see what your doctor says.

I still chuckle at the pimple boots. My DH is bald so he wears a hat all the time and lately a hoodie with the hood on over the hat. He looks like the unibomber, puttering around in his squeaky shoes.

Can't bring myself to watch the core workout video though I am curious about what the windshield wipers are.

Gallery duty yesterday whi*****luded some walking in circles but at least I got some paperwork done. In the morning I went to the accountant for studio payroll and slightly scraped a tire turning into the parking lot. Tire pressure alert came up and I couldn't drive more than a few blocks before it was nearly empty. DH came and used a portable pump to get it inflated enough to drive to the tire store bur the could feel the air rushing out. New tire now. Geez I barely hit that curb. Other Bolt owners say these tires are pretty fragile. Geez. Stupid. Car only has 5000 miles.

Hey Lesa, glad you checked in. And Paula, thinking of you especially today. Liz, going to a fancy restaurant sounds like a great idea. Just as good as going to someone else's house!

Its raining again today and the fires are getting rained on. Hope this ends them without the predicted slides. Have a great day all! Diane S
