Good morning!
Turkey Eve
No weight today. Yesterday it was 168.2 I think. My appetite is leveling off, thank goodness!
Diane O/Peps tell me more about this fitness planner
Liz-new appliances, how exciting!
Ann-I know I need to be doing some yoga/stretching. My sister was practicing her manipulations on me (she's in med school) and just lying down on the flat floor my back was popping!
Shirl-sorry about the rain (doesn't that always happen? Or like I wash my car and bam) but there is something so beautiful about spring rain showers. I always make too much food. You'd think I'd grown up hungry or something. Wow so scary about the momma. Just a reminder that anything can happen at any time. And as much as I would like to avoid a C-section, it's a reminder of THANK GOD we have access to that type of medical care!
Cecily-keep it up! I too never liked anything "exercise" until I found weightlifting. And of course at first I hated it. So painful, could barely sit down. And I still hated leg days. But I'm addicted to the positive feeling it gave me about my body--even better than any low number on the scale.
DD--interesting take. I need to read this article everyone's talking about! Must go back and find the link. From what you're saying, I totally agree that apples are different from, say, Cheetos. I will agree that things like Cheetos don't have much redeeming value, and typically lead down the road to more "not redeeming" foods. I'm always amazed when I look at the way my grandparents ate--chicken fried steak, gravy, bacon and eggs, "lard", biscuits with butter and jam, pies, cakes, etc.--and how much thinner their generation was. How can this be? I see people avoiding a lot of those fats and carbs these days. ARe they healthier? Well maybe (insofar as heart health, at least), but as a whole we're not thinner. My theory is a couple of things: 1) they were obviously MUCH more active, 2) they did not eat processed foods. So while they ate more caloric foods, I know at least for my grandparents, snacking wasn't much of a thing, and going into the cabinet to get a bag of chips or microwave tostinos pizza rolls wasn't a thing. Plus dinnertime involved fanfare. My gosh, my grandmother still sets out several dishes to serve a sandwich lunch! And if I bring her fast food ever, we still eat off dinnerware! Hmm just all things to consider. "More deliberate" That is so true when I'm eating healthier. Now off to find that link
Peps-I loved reading your food choices and thoughts behind them. Costco: we shall have one this coming year! (we have sam's)

Yesterday was a difficult day. The Dr. had an inkling that Becca might have a UTI. Do you know how they get a urine sample from a baby? They cath them. Pretty horrible. At least she seems to have forgotten it now. Unfortunately we won't have the results bac****il after Thanksgiving. But they went ahead and started her on antibiotics. Drape lady came (taking more time away from work). I've been dreaming about getting fancy drapes in the living room for ages and...I'm underwhelmed :( First world probs. The problem is that the fabric we ordered for the panel has never come in and it looks like we'll have to find another option. So all we have are the valances. So it looks very unfinished. I'll have to reserve final judgment, but right now I'm afraid the fabric we chose is more muted in person than it was on the sample. I was hoping for dramatic, sweeping drapes that would make a statement for the whole room and...right now the swags quite frankly look like someone got their bangs cut too short, the fabric muted. Sure hoping the finished product is more impressive. Drapes are expensive! And I have no intention to change them any time soon...if ever!
I'm still stick. Throat so sore it's hard to talk. Which is bad for me hehe
Left kiddo with a babysitter last night and went out to dinner with a couple we really enjoy. Both of us like both of them. Every time we've gone to dinner, I feel like the conversation flows effortlessly and I could keep talking with them for hours! And the meal was wonderful--steak and some delicious sides.
Hope everyone can get their grocery shopping accomplished today! Mom tried to yesterday but they were already out of stock of so much. I'll swing by a different grocery store for her on my way over to help cook/prep today. Still taking Becca to sitter, though. I miss her, but man I get so much more accomplished!
Good morning! Weight 122.6, calories 953. I get one day of eating on plan, then the holiday tomorrow! We are going to a nice restaurant with our friends (the ones who stayed here but are now in Fort Myers for the Sand Sculpture contest).
I'm so sorry Becca had to go through that! It really is heartbreaking for a parent when their child has to go through a scary procedure. Best to find out about the UTI quickly though. Maybe your feeling about the drapes is a little colored by your post-pediatrician feelngs? Hopefully they will look exactly as you have imagined.
i am waiting for the electrician now who needs to put a plug in the cabinet above where the microwave/vent will be located. He is 25 minutes late... But the stove and refrigerator delivery are this morning as well so I guess I'd be sitting around anyway? I am missing my morning walk . I will have to take Justice for a long one later. But, I may go pick up a cabinet to put my TV on that I found at the consignment shop yesterday. I don't like the cart it is currently on and this one is very interesting and a good price. I hope it is still there!
Have a wonderful Wednesday!

We had dinner out on the way home from Syracuse. Steak & sea scallops and a bite of a pumpkin crumble for dessert. I feel a sugar reset coming !
Be safe in your preparations & enjoy your day tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving Eve!
I must, must, must get my azz in gear so I can get most things tidied/clean so I can get a training hike in.
I cleaned out the fridge last night. How can we have condiments that are so old? I mean I CLEAN this thing (relatively) regularly. I am a pharmacist with a background in retail. I. Check. Expiration. Dates.
I want to blame my housemates but I know they aren't buying anchovies and never opening. One was outdated so I tossed. The other is a paste, indate, but never opened. Aspirational anchovies. Unami for a dish to be named later.
BB, I am sorry to hear about Little Nugget's cath experience!!!!!!! Yesterday I was working on the Family Practice hallway and was so distracted by a particular baby's sounds.....happy sounds, tho. How can one work with joyful baby sounds on the other side of the door? (The student I was interacting with with looked at me like I was having a seizure. I was like "do you not FEEL that?") Baby noises are so contagious -- happy or sad, you feel it with them.
I am making my mom's apple crisp for Thanksgiving this year. I would like to skip everything else and just have that. With ice cream. I'm a little done with pumpkin....I have been roasting squash (including pumpkin) with pumpkin pie spice sprinkled on for weeks. I feel like I have had a pumpkin pie vaccine. (Diamond, loved your crustless pumpkin dish! I'm always disappointed in Costco crusts, anyway) For those that are worried, I bought pecan and pumpkin pies for everyone else.
Cripes. Another hour has passed.
Hugs to all,
Shel

It has been 30 seconds and no my azz is not in gear.
But, David, I have been meaning to ask....have you been writing during this time that you can't do your usual physical activities? I seem to remember that you like to write.....and I know I like to read what you write. Everyone in a while I think about flying goat pens. Or hooting. What about writing a book for babies/kids?

Greetings Peeps and Peps
153 today. Rats. Too much sitting and playing scrabble yesterday. More steps needed. I managed to get a couple thousand in just during gallery duty alone on Monday. No way to walk in circles and play scrabble. But I so enjoy the game and company.
I had a chatty post prepared yesterday and my computer ate it. I don't think its OH, its this computer that chooses to freeze up at inopportune times. So I am preparing this as a separate document so I can paste it in and not lose it if computer freezes. How stupid is that?
Cecily glad you are getting into the workouts. I so need to do the same but I hate having someone following me around telling me what to do.
BB so sorry Becca is ailing. Hoping for speedy recovery. And that new drapes work out. Maintaining a nice home is so dang much work. I need to get a duster on a long stick to get cob webs out of the skylights. Or maybe I will just sit here and have coffee.
Boo indeed Peps. I so hate spending money on stuff that is not fun. New vacuum and new microwave on the way in this house.
Well the rains have started. We are expected to get 3 inches over the next few days. And the rain will go inland to the fire areas which is mostly good though now they are worried about slides with all the vegetation gone.
Gallery duty again this afternoon. Circle walking for sure since few people will be out wandering around in the rain. Must take toys.
I am THANKFUL I don't have to cook a full dinner tomorrow. Just a couple of sides.
Shirley I sure hope your friend's baby is ok. What a scary thing. A reminder of what counts in life.
Well thats about it for now. Lets see if I can get this posted without becoming MIA. Diane S
