Best wishes for Audrey Louise. Yes, a reminder of what is truly important.

Weight 176.4

Third training session under my belt and I didn't hate it this last time. Progress! I think my issue is mostly that I don't like trying new things that I'm not good at right off the bat. (Which is pretty much all new things!) It's a vulnerable feeling of being watched, judged, embarrassed, needing help from someone more knowledgeable... I don't like it, but must remember it passes with repeated tries.

Off to grocery shop for Thanksgiving now then a dog walk, then eyebrow shaping appointment.

Happy Tuesday all!

Good show, Cecily. :) I'm like you -- I resist change, and then once I give it a chance I usually turn into an evangelizer. Yeah, it's irritating both ways. ;)

I've been digesting the article Shel posted last night about low carb eating. It gives me ease. (Favorite line from Wuthering Heights, it's what Heathcliff says when he digs up Cathy so he can gaze at her). But yes the information does give me ease, and not in a creepy Heathcliff way. If I eat low carb, life is better. My cravings decrease, my energy levels increase, I eat more variety, I'm more deliberate about what I eat. But still my brain frets about total calories, am I underestimating the impact of higher fats, and then there is sadly, the convenience of processed foods to make it just a little too easy to go back to oh, a little is okay. Which leads to a lot. But what the article said to me is confirmation of what my body has tried to tell me again and again, it processes processed carbs differently than other foods, and I've never gained weight because I ate a Honeycrisp Apple. I will trust more in the process that whole foods will help me be whole.

Boy, there's an interesting literary quote! LOL!

I also like a lot this other quote (by you): "Whole foods will help me be whole." That's been true for me this last year since I focused more on 8 daily veggies and fruits. My carbs for each day aren't low, but they seldom come from added sugar and heavily processed food. Even the breads I typically eat are whole grain and have a lot of fiber.

Agreed! I've never binged on apples or anything in the unadulterated fruit or veggie or lean protein categories. Bread 'em, fry 'em, smother them in cheese, or mix 'em with pasta and I'll binge away!

There is a Costco pumpkin pie, greatly desired by my college aged son, sitting in our fridge, awaiting his arrival. In keeping with my desire to eat more whole foods and less added sugar, there is a sugar free, crustless pumpkin pie baking in the oven. A pumpkin pudding perhaps. Not low carb, but lower , it is made with fairlife milk, canned pumpkin, and lots of pumpkin pie spice. It also contains sugar free Torani syrup, so to be sure, there is some chemically, definitely not whole food substances in it. Maybe someday I can let go of the artificial sweeteners, but for now, I am satisfied with the bargain I've made to stay out the Costco pie.

The other perspective I'm working on is that, yes, it is the holidays. But every day is not a food holiday from here until New Year's Day. Even if I completely lost my mind on Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day, that's three days in 6 weeks. That leaves a lot of other days to be whole.

My scale's batteries are not dead or dying. I played with the batteries, measure the charge, tried them again, replaced the batteries with new. Something must be wrong with the sensor. Stepped on scale 5 times. 5 different weights spreading over 10 pounds. Just doesn't work for me...LOL....

So, now I am batting 1000! - garage door opener, washing machine, kitchen faucet (which they no longer make parts for, so I bought a new one), and now my scale. Booooooooooo! Oh, well....

Luckily, at Costco today they had the scale that I had for a year or two prior to VSG. That scale too my through WLS and weighs to the tenth of a pound. It was on Costco sale for $19.99, so I nabbed one. Must. Have. A. Scale!

It is sad to me that so many electronics are "disposable" these days. (ooooh, I sound like an old man! LOVE IT!) I am planning a side by side weighing later to see how they compare.

I am hungry today. Possibly because I didn't eat enough protein early in the day. My breakfast was late and heavy carbs - albeit all whole food, natural carbs in the form of steel cut oats, blueberries, raspberries, banana slices, 0% Fage Greek Yogurt, and some chopped pecans. I ate some nuts and an apple on the way to get my hair cut. After the haircut I needed protein. I could tell I was hungry. I had to do some shopping and that was hard on a grumbly stomach. I bought some grass fed beef jerky as my "treat". I had a feeling if I didn't put something in my mouth protein based I was going to jump into a sugar fest. The soft serve yogurt at Costco was calling me loudly and clearly. Beef jerky was a decent compromise.

Off to work out in a few. Ron was feeling good enough yesterday to schedule a session with our trainer for today. After vacuuming and doing some housework, I think he is regretting that decision.

Had a nice cyber chat with Shel last night. She is doing some hard level core training. Was fascinating to compare the differences between what we found hard. An exercise that was hard for her was easy for me, and several that are easier for her are just miserable for me. I believe all the yoga she has done has made a huge difference. Yoga peeps are STRONG! Yoga when done correctly is super strength building. I bow down to the yogis on our board. What y'all do is so impressive to me.

Will go back and read through posts with more accuracy later!
