Bonnie 150, sooo glad to have you back here !! We're with you all of the way !!!
Quick trip to Syracuse today (2 hours each way) for three pre-admission tests for DC's 12/03 urology procedure. NYC ortho got back to us, and they won't schedule a hip replacement until they do an intermediate procedure in Jan., exploring femur density with a camera. He can't have an MRI because of his pacemaker/defibrillator . He'll be non weight bearing for 6 weeks after.
Today is my 1401st consecutive day on MFP. I'm looking for a routine to fully utilize my 2019 Fitness Planner Peps turned me on to. I'd love to take this month to habituate some daily/weekly practices.
Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! (Six months and one week.) AT GOAL month 8. Maintaining at goal range (139- 144) ~ four (4) years !!
We drove back to the house for a long week end. Dr appointments on Monday for DW, mom and to remove a hopefully pre cancer spot on my forehead. Back to the woods tomorrow.
Peps, I worry about our woods catching on fire because of all the dried leaves. But we have rain to help it decompose and also clean the air. Every time I see planes dropping fire retardants I wonder what it is doing to the environment. I worked as a chemical plant operator for 5 years. I do not trust the labels that say they are not harmful. Hope your air quality improves soon.
Miss150, glad to see your post. Rest easy, heal well.
Ann, you always would so positively up beat. Even you F/Vs. how do you cook your mushrooms? I have been reading up on how to grow them.
BB, hope you are feeling better, baby with fever is no good but even worse when mom does not feel well.
Shel, your pics always make me feel better.
Diane O, glad you had fun at the wedding and returned home safely.
Diane S, that guy would have made me feel uncomfortable too. Working in sales I guess you meet all kinds. Mostly nice I bet. I always like when I get a call to come in early. Hope the scan goes well.
ShirlAus, hope your party went well. It would be hard for me with poor sleep beforehand.
More later, David

Weight 123.4, calories 793. Our company is heading to Fort Myers today (the husband is competing in the sand sculpture contest this week - pictures will be forthcoming after the weekend). We were going to go partway with them to an artistic community called Matlacha, but it is pouring out so I think we are going to pass. DH has been a bit of a zombie today and had a bad night last night so staying home and taking a nap might be best for him anyway. We are having Thanksgiving dinner with them so will see them in a couple of days.
On my nesting front, the new refrigerator and the stove arrive tomorrow and the dishwasher and microwave hood are being installed either Friday or Monday. I picked out my granite and sinks and they are scheduled for installation on 1/9, after we return from the north. The only remaining task is getting new faucets for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Have a transformative Tuesday!

Thanks, DianeO for starting us off this morning. I was up early, but had a lot to do and got it all done. :)
It's a gorgeous day here--crisp (in the low 40s) with sunny, blue skies. And I woke up to a beautiful, thick dusting of snow everywhere. I hadn't realized it was going to snow last night, so it was a real treat, even if it's all melted now. I know some of y'all are shaking your heads at this Southerner's rhapsodies about snow, eh?
Even better news is that overnight my ribs are suddenly and noticeably less painful. That's the way healing works for me: for days I feel like **** and then BAM! ... healing happens fast. It's so great to wake up and feel energetic again, not to mention being able to breathe deeply without pain.
I still haven't gone back to yoga class, but yesterday I did 20" of gentle yoga at home and this morning I did 30" of slightly less gentle yoga. It feels SO great to be stretching and moving and breathing deeply again. I'll keep doing yoga the rest of this week and head back to class next week.
I'm glad that some of you enjoyed my recent V/F reports. David, the mushrooms I had yesterday were shiitakes and were part of a Healthy Choice power bowl (Korean-inspired), so I didn't cook them, just nuked the package. However, cooking raw mushrooms in my book is best done with butter (or butter AND olive oil), some ground pepper and (at the very end) a little salt. Most folks like to add garlic and parsley leaves, but I prefer to taste the simple, pure, unadulterated mushrooms. The best mushrooms I've ever eaten were in British Columbia, where shrooms love the climate and grow rampant. I bet almost everyone up there forages for them. My husband said that growing up in Northern Missouri his personal mushroom locations were State secrets and he'd never share his favorite patches with anyone, not even a family member. I know you have some amazing mushrooms that grow down in Arkansas, since I have another friend down there who's so knowledgeable about mushrooms he SERIOUSLY ought to have a television show about mushrooms.
One more V/F report: Today for lunch I had the last of last Sunday's roasted pork loin in a salad with organic lettuces, a Honeycrisp apple, half a cup of pomegranate avrils and an ounce of feta cheese crumbles tossed with Maple Grove (fat-free) raspberry vinaigrette and ground black pepper. Delicioso!
Bonnie, I was so tickled to see your avatar and emojis here yesterday. Sleep! Rest! Heal!
Thanksgiving Week theme: I am grateful to each of you for being here, standing together.

Good Morning All - Hump Day Yay. We have very welcome rain - it came in the form of a thunderstorm just as DH's workmates arrived last night. BBQ'ing in between rain showers. His collegues are just lovely and it was a great night. Was nice to see DH interacting with them - they have all served in the army and been friends for many many years. Lifelong friendships that have now culminated in a strong working team- watching the banter made me smile a lot. Of course I made wayyyyy too much food but will ring my SIL today and have her call in and collect dinner for her family on the way home tonight. Puppies are curled up on their beds whilst I work - looking forward to a blob day with nothing planning except work. Loving the sound of the rain on the tin roof. And watching it soak into our parched ground. May it continue for hours and give the soil and trees etc a much needed soaking.
Had a harder morning yesterday with a call from my city neighbour. She was 37 weeks pregnant and the baby stopped moving. They rushed her in for C Section as her placenta failed - took them 8 minutes to get a heartbeat and she is a very very sick little angel. Its times like this that make you reflect on whats truely important in this world. Its not about having a pristine clean house or everything perfect. Its about family, health and supporting each other. Her two other daughters look at me like another Nanna. I will look forward to going home next Tue night so I can at least cook some meals to support them all. Hard to know what to do and say in times like this. Praying Audrey Louise continues to fight and will surround them all in love n kindness.
Ocean - Good luck with DH's appointment. Hope it goes well
David - Good luck with all the appointments and trip back to the woods
Diane - Glad DH appointment went well
Liz - sounds like you are getting everything organised for kitchen remodel - cant wait to see pics
Ann - You are a busy bee - glad you got lots done and your ribs are feeling less painful
Well I guess I had better finish my second cup of tea and start work. Have a wonderful evening all
Shirley :)
Shirl, you are so right that we need to keep our eye on what is truly important. I hope your friend's baby comes through this fine. Whatever is ahead for them, I'm sending them all my best wishes.
BTW, you sure do feed a lot of people! You're a good friend. :)

Many thanks Ann - thats lovely :) I hope she comes through this well too
I love to care for those I consider family and friends - its pretty natural for that to come through by cooking for me. Its how I was raised and am lucky enough to married into a family with the same values - share the love n care around - makes the load a lot lighter I think
Your neighbors plight certainly does remind us of what is important in life. I hope Audrey Louise is going to be okay.
