Wow! Six hours is indeed a long hike to your nearest Big City.

But your Big City is San Francisco. And mine is not.

;)

Good Morning All - Friday here and Im looking forward to the weekend. I will work till around 3pm then heading into main city as I have to changed garaged address on farm ute, then DH and I will do some groceries, maybe grab a bite to eat and head back to the farm.

Had SIL, BIL and Nephew for dinner last night - was lovely and relaxed. Nibble platter, BBQ with 4 salads then our favourite Beesting - made in the next town . DH's Fav - I managed 3 mouthfuls and have leftovers for a treat today

The plumber is coming at 9am to install our new oven so Im looking forward to being able to cook over the weekend. Thinking a smoked salmon and leek quiche with Brie might be yummy. Will likely make 2 and send one over to SIL's to save her cooking. Love being so close to family that we can share meals and special time together

Ocean - Hope you feel better soon - bug sounds awful. You did super well to move those bags whilst feeling awful

Liz - Daycare sounds like a viable option and I hope you look more into it. I think sometimes as carers, we need to be kind to ourselves and give ourself permission to have downtime to re-group and unwind. It allows you to continue stronger for the next stage of the journey. Big hugs to you

Ann - Hope your eye continues to heal. Things will be blury and kind weird for a little while. Mum found the drops drove her insane - hence she stayed with us for a week after each eye so I could do them for her

Bonnie - So glad your appointment went well. Hope Beccas fever subsides soon

Diane - Well done on not eating more of those cookies for the sake of it. Hope you get an apt for DH soon

Cec - How are you feeling now - hoping muscles are settling

Devon - You are a wise owl and offer such good advice :)

To anyone else I have missed - hope you are all well

Welcome Nikki :)

Especially Bonnie - in my thoughts - sending a parcel of Aussie Sunshine and Rainbows with healing to you

Have a great evening all :)

Shirley

Doing well today! Not nearly as sore as Tuesday (a normal amount of sore, very manageable).

Thoughts are with Bonnie150 and her recovery. Has anyone had any word?

My lower glutes and hamstrings are SORE! But, it's a happy sore. I can feel exactly what muscles were targeted, and in a sicko way, I like it! LOL! Yes, I know.... odd duck...

School has been closed tomorrow. All districts in the county have decided to close their schools due to the hazardous air quality. You all have snow days. In CA we now have smoke days. Sigh... Who would have ever thought. Smoke days are neither pretty nor fun like Snow Days. Booooooo!

What is most sad to me about the school closure tomorrow is that I had the SF Opera coming to do an assembly tomorrow. I have been rehearsing 10 students for several weeks to be the student actors in a pared down version of The Elixir of Love by Donazetti. I am seriously keeping fingers crossed they will be able to reschedule us! (FYI - it's a program called Opera a la Carte. Professional opera singers/actors come and work with the student actors and after an hour of rehearsal perform the opera with the students. The opera has been expertly modified into an operetta and simplified for elementary school students.)

The scale continues to go down or be stable. I'm not sure which. Either way is fine by me. Scale read 243 and 244 this am. When I first got on the scale it was the same as last night, which I knew was way off. So I did the reset with the puppy in my arms and got on again and was at 244. Going to get a new battery tomorrow and hope that solves the issue. I need my scale to be reliable.

When it rains, it pours. Garage door opener motor broke. Gear stripped. Kitchen faucet sprang a major leak. Front Loading washing machine threw a part in the drum that agitates the clothes. Garage door motor is being replaced as I type. Washer is getting fixed tomorrow. Faucet, hopefully tomorrow, too. I just HATE spending money on repairs. I do, I do, I DO! Add the autumn tree trimming for $1500 next week and I feel like I'm bleeding money with nothing to show for it. However, I must put it all in perspective... Do I mind spending 2K on a great dog show week? Hell NO! And frankly, that is joyfully frivolous spending of the first world elite kind. So, quit your *****ing about necessary repair expenditures, Devon!

To celebrate Smoke Day, we are going to go out to get something to eat as soon as the garage door guy is finished. Hope it's soon, though. I'm hungry. It's already after 8:00 pm.

Devon, I feel your house maintenance money-pit pain. Even a "paid for" house is expensive!

I sure hope you can reschedule the SF Opera assembly. What a fantastic program! Sorry for the smoke days.
