Quick late afternoon post here ... I'm back from the eye surgeon (loooong day!) and feeling OK. I have a bandage on my left eye/left side of my face the size of Kansas. I'm typing now with my glasses perched atop the bandage so I can see out of my other (unbandaged) eye. The bandage comes off tomorrow morning. Then my local eye doc is going to jack up the surgeon and get me a surgery date for the second eye as soon as humanly possible -- which is likely to be much sooner than the surgeon thinks it's possible.
Like y'all, I'm also wondering how Bonnie's doing. I just checked her FB page, and nothing's posted there about her outcome -- NOT that many people post their medical/HIPAA info on FB -- I certainly don't.
Not much else to say this late in the day or before the bandage comes off. So please wish me luck for tomorrow morning's unveiling. :)

P.S. DianeO -- yeah, what a STOOPID questionnaire by yet another STOOPID graduate student who wants to study something about which he/she knows very little. I swear ... as a Ph.D. trained social scientist who knows how to design research that delivers useful findings, these kinds of "studies" just **** me off. What a waste of everyone's time.

MEOW! LOL! You put my feelings into words. I, too, thought WTH??? I hope? I hope????? I hope could be replaced with If wishes were horses, then the obese would be thin.... and I would.... (fill in the blank of some healthy eating goal). Have a vision of some 20 something doctoral student with thick, long brown hair pulled back into a pony, wearing sensible yet sexy black rimmed glasses, a size 2 lab coat and pumps taking herself very seriously asking a SMO 50 something how she HOPES to navigate Thanksgiving. Then my mind goes to MAD magazine and I see the cartoon splat.
I know, I'm whacked.

Bohemian Rhapsody was great FYI.
My soreness peaked last night. Every movement I made elicited a groan. This morning I felt better. When I went back to the trainer this afternoon she was shocked I was sore and said what we did was "nothing" compared to the normal workouts she does for people. That made me feel kind of bad, but my weakness wasn't a surprise to me, so I'm trying to focus on knowing it can only get better. In the meantime my arms were shaking and twitching just holding the steering wheel on the drive home!
This morning started off with the fun of an annual exam at the gynecologist with her telling me the recommended age to start having colonoscopies has dropped from 50 to 45. Argh. So I need to schedule that. The IUD is going in on the 26th and I can't take any of the recommended NSAIDs because of the blood thinners (and the sleeve, but I think limited use can work with the sleeve. Not so with the blood thinners). So I can take Tylenol but she said it doesn't work well with the cramping. Argh again.
Now I must go walk Ferg as he's telling me in no certain terms he wants to go out. Take care all!
IMO, this is NOT the right trainer for you. I don't care what she does with other people. Every single client needs to be met at his or her fitness level. If you had the type of soreness you are describing, you were worked out too hard for your fitness level. That is the type of soreness someone who works out like I do CHOOSES to have when focusing on specific goals and body parts.
I would encourage you to research and find a trainer who specializes in fitness for adults in the midlife to senior years. I believe you are over 40. Beginning a fitness journey that includes weight bearing exercise when over 35 requires knowledge on how connective tissue works, how to build and strengthen joints and the supporting tissues before focusing on muscle development.
It bothers me that your arms were so weak they were shaking and twitching on the way home. That is a clear indication of over exertion. Your trainer should have been questioned you fully on the soreness - where, what level of pain, etc... You should have been worked very easily today and then been manually stretched afterwards so that your trainer could assess your flexibility during recovery.
The point of strength training is to build strength. To build strength you have to first build stamina. Stamina is built incrementally. Once you begin to gain stamina and strength the growth process becomes exponential rather than linear. I am sorry that your experience is not the joyful one it ought to be. When working out properly there is a joy that wells up from the depths because you can sense your body is fulfilling its purpose and from that sense of accomplishment comes in immeasurable sense of inner power, strength and fortitude.
I swear, I'm not kidding. Come, drink my Kool-Aid!
DD is having IBS like symptoms, so is seeing a GI in a couple of weeks. I warned her that a colonoscopy was likely (she's 30). She said she figured that was the case. If they could only make the prep easier (it is drinking the foul stuff that I hate the most).

Weight is stable. Actually up .4, but that is absolutely negligible on a day to day basis. I simply can't waste energy on the tenths on a daily basis. I'm trying to focus on trends...(whatever the hell those are! LOL) Okay, a bit tongue in cheek, but since I have never ever ever focused on the long term... I did not get bummed, upset or think to myself, "You must eat less today" when I saw the scale move from 245.8 to 246.2 today. To me that is a total win.
Work out today was next level, too. I'm working on compound exercises (hitting multiple muscle groups in a single combination type of exercise). New move today was a Warrior Balance move combined with a renegade or single back row with a 30 pound dumbbell. (standing upright on one leg, other leg with knee up toward the chest, lean over parallel to the floor with leg stretched out behind, pick up the dumbbell on the opposite side of the standing leg and do the row, put weight down, bring knee back to chest, and repeat x10 then. switch sides.) DAMN they were hard! My butt burned by the end of each set. Did that new thing in super sets with barbell walking lunges. Then it was chest combo supersets - inclined chest press with walking inclined off level push ups. So, I'm kinda tired. LOL!
We are off to a district fund raiser at a fancy azz burger joint to support Art, Music, Science and PE in the schools. Not what I want to do, but I will make it work for my macros.
Wonderful Wednesday to you all.
