NYC is such a fabulous place to visit !! They are just starting to gear up for Christmas?Macy?s window is fabulous !! Walking totals were decreased by the medical appointment. When it was over, we opted to drive straight home. It almost took as long to get out of the city as it did to get through the portion of NJ, before getting back in PA, though. I don't know how people do that commute ! They have to have a team meeting to discuss next steps for DC. His former broken femur and cracked hip caused the bones to fuse back well, and closed/narrowed some spaces they prefer to have open for a replacement.
After coffee, I?m going to play dress up and decide which dress I?m wearing to the wedding. I am planning to limit myself to a carry on, as weather is predicted to be abysmal, and I?m seeing delayed or cancelled flights in my not to distant future. Being separated from my checked in luggage is something I can control !
I received an optional survey from the National Weight loss Registry, on behalf of a graduate student doing research. She was focusing on how successful maintainers stay the course over the holidays. What struck me was that each possible strategy I was to rank and rate began with I hope to. Therein lies the difference between former attempt to lose and maintain. Hope is a passive, non-measurable emotion. While hope has a place in my life and spirituality, maintenance is totally about intentions, plans and ongoing review of data followed by adjustments.
Off to seize the day ! Eager to hear from Miss Bonnie !
Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! (Six months and one week.) AT GOAL month 8. Maintaining at goal range (139- 144) ~ four (4) years !!
Weight 122.2, calories 834. Boy do I wish for that post-op metabolism when I would lose fairly easily on that number of calories. I had a low a pound less a week ago and I've been hovering here ever since. I'm eating healthy and it should budge slowly eventually.
NYC is a very cool place near Christmas. One DD lived there for years until a couple of months ago and younger DD did an internship while in college at Madison Square Garden. Nine years ago we took a train to NYC with all the Thanksgiving fixings in our luggage including a turkey so we could make dinner at younger DD's apartment. DH did most of the cooking as he used to especially on holidays. We went to to the Macys parade in person. Wall to wall people! Worth going once, but I'd never go again. On Black Friday we got up early, pursued the Christmas windows, and did some Christmas shopping without any crowds at all. The stores opened early but hardly anyone was in them until around 11 that day.
We are going to a coffee at one of our walking friends this morning. I "hope" I don't blow my daily calories there.
Justice just had a near heart attack, as a ratty looking cat just walked next to the lanai we are sitting on. There was that initial look of shock when they both saw each other, then Justice started barking like crazy and the cat flew. I wonder if it was feral (or just a strange looking house cat)? They aren't supposed to run free around here...
Bonnie, I hope everything went well yesterday and you are on your way to recovery. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Good morning!
I've missed some posts but of course thinking about Bonnie. Prayers for her. Also for all of CA. The smoke has arrived here, but only as a haze.
Peps, congrats on smashing into the next decade! About dry heat, I have skin weirdness as soon as I step outside in Las Vegas. 1% humidity! Bleh.
I've been busy, mostly with work stuff but will now also be kicking into Thanksgiving gear. (Sidethought: Shirl -- is there an Australian version? Obviously no history of pilgrims, but perhaps some sort of harvest feast when it is harvest time)
I seem happier to work on arm-pit work stuff than I have for a long time. I didn't realize how much my attitude had changed. DH started a mood med a couple of weeks ago. I think he is taking it because both DD and I think we see positive changes.
DianeO, totally agree with that hope stuff. Intention is different.
Enjoy the day! Shel

Weight: 168.4. So typical for it to jump right as it's weigh-in day at ob. We'll see how that goes.
But I'll try not to think about that and just be excited for hearing the baby's healthy heartbeat and hopefully getting to see baby!!
Diane O.-Wow I love what you say about hope being passive. There are so many "wants" I have that are throw-away. You have to put something into it! At least a plan of action to make something happen. Otherwise it's nothing more than a dream. I spent so long dreaming away. Wanting to be thinner, never getting there. Until I had surgery. Now my plan must be different--it will probably need to look a lot like Peps. I also enjoyed NYC at Christmas. We were there last year for the first week in December for our "babymoon." I'll admit, not the best place to babymoon, though. I'd never been to NYC, and there is just so much to see aside from Christmastime! Plus restrooms were hard to come by and being pregnant, very necessary. But now I'm thinking back on it so nostalgically. I think the windows at Saks were my favorite! And I've never been in crowds like that before in my life! I regret not being able to explore each of the neighborhoods a little more in-depth. I think my second favorite thing was walking across the Brooklyn Bridge. Cue Gershwin music. It was so New Yorkerish.
Bonnie-thinking of you and your family.
greetings my peeps
Sorry to be AWOL yesterday. Slept in, had football to watch, play scrabble and studio visit. Such a grind being retired.
Lots going on with everyone. Thats good. Hope all thats going on for Bonnie150 is good. Hoping for a check in from you Bonnie when you are ready. Blessings.
Well I am at 152.5 which is ok. Didn't ruin myself at the dog show and eating at the fabulous place recommended by Peps plus other stuff.
Yay Cecily on the work out. Inspires me. I am the worst sedentary person and need to move it or lose it.
I am sorry for all of you in the dry climates. I am a prisoner of the north coast as I can't take heat or dryness anymore. Lots of good cremes out there - I have one that has magnesium in it that I got at the health food store. Its supposed to be good for my hand disease but I also find it very soothing in general. I was feeling rather dry skinned yesterday - due to playing scrabble next to a wood stove.
Shirley hope the knee stuff heals up. Pain is no fun. What a profound statement that is!
Peps good for you on your success. That Trader Joes sugar free chocolate is indeed good. The longer you are off sugar the less you crave it. And go for the Jackson tattoo. Great idea. Hmmm, did anyone out there have tattoos done at high weight that "drooped" after losing 100 lbs? Maybe a topic for the main forum.
Good luck with cataracts Ann. Take the valium offered. My scrabble buddy is now glasses free.
Bought Tesla a toy at the dog show that makes bird tweeting noises. I can tell its going to drive us nuts and we are going to have to hide it.
So Justice saw a nasty cat!!! Good on him for scaring it off. Lots of feral cats around here but they know to stay out of our yard.
Cable tv company has changed all the channels around. Can't find HGTV. First world problems.
Have a great day all. Off to figure out my new fit bit. Diane S
Good Morning All from our peaceful place. Back at the farm and happily working from the kitchen table up here. DH just left for the Army Base and the Puppies are feasting on lamb bones which have been dug up from last night - BIL & SIL dropped another whole lamb over for us. We are so blessed. We are having them all over for a BBQ dinner tonight - Should be nice.
I will try and reply to everyones post under the posting - but Ocean I hope the team meeting is favourable for your DH's options. Good luck deciding on what to wear for the wedding
Bonnie - you are and remain in my thoughts. Hoping to hear good news soon
Just a pretty quiet one here today - will go over and let my other SIL puppies out at lunchtime for a run and toilet duty. Then a trip to the bakery for something for dessert for tonight. I dont have an oven at the moment - hoping the plumber is coming to connect either today or tommorrow. Will be nice to be able to cook again.
Here is a pic of the final little bits of light last night - got DH to take it as you could see the storm/rain rolling in. Just so stunning up here. Feel completely at peace and grounded when Im here
Stunning is right! I'll have to add your part of the world to my list of places to go on the future!
