Sleep hours: 6.25
Vegetable/Fruit Servings: 4
Water glasses: 3
Exercise: Walking (6,500 steps)
Meditation: Yes

This morning's weight is up a little, but that's likely because I weighed at 2:15 am! However, yesterday's carbs were also up, V/Fs were lower than usual, I drank only 3 glasses of water and walked only 6,500 steps. But thank God I'm not obsessed with my metrics. LOL!

Seriously, if all I did was stay home, my "metrics" would be "perfect" much more often. However, the stats listed above those aren't my only life metrics. Yesterday's trip to my mother's home town was so sweet, and not just for the wonderful piece of blueberry bundt cake (made by a lovely third cousin whom I'd never met before!) that I brought home and had for dessert last night with green tea. The cousin and half a dozen children and grandchildren of my mother's childhood chums, whom I also met, are "metrics," too. :)

BTW, I took another Aleve yesterday, but it didn't work as magically as before. I'll skip it today. I'll also start my pre-cataract surgery regimen today by NOT taking any more fish oil capsules until after surgery (on Wednesday). Why? The Interwebs just told me that fish oil is thought to have a "blood thinning" effect and exacerbate bleeding. Well ... there's something else I didn't know.

Today's goals are 4 glasses of water, 10K steps, 8 V/Fs, and delicious food. For Sunday dinner I'll oven-roast a pork loin (pre-prepped with lemon and garlic marinade) with half a sweet potato and make a salad of lettuce, apple, pecans, and a Meyer lemon tossed with raspberry vinaigrette. Doesn't that sound wonderful! For dinner I'll have a Cuban power bowl and avocado with sliced mango for dessert. BTW, I don't think I've ever had a Meyer lemon before, but they were so beautiful in the grocery store I couldn't resist them.

Finally, for the first time in years I'm starting to get into a holiday mood and last night lit candles around the great room and on the screen porch.

Today's theme: Live! We're alive!

Drinking water... remains an intention. So, DC could never understand my fascination with Food Network shows like Chopped and Beat Bobby Flay. He couldn't fathom how someone downscaling the importance of food could watch without becoming ravenous. Ann's post about Sunday dinner finally highlighted the critical draw.. flavor, flavor, freshness ! The less I eat, the better quality experience I want it to be. I love learning about new ingredients and flavor profiles. He is slowly converting and suggested that each week, we give one another an ingredient to build a healthy meal around. Wow !!

Bonnie 150, please feel our positive energy and support. Modern medicine is so incredible, but the unknown remains a challenge. It sounds like you have your head in a good place, and your body will follow. Here's to each moment being better than the last, and embracing baby steps as genuine celebrations of success. Out with all the stuff that no longer serves you, and picture all of the healthy cells and tissue filling that vacated space !! You've got this !!

"The less I eat, the better quality experience I want it to be". Exactly! I tell pre-ops that I enjoy food more now than when I was MO, but they always have a hard time believing it even when I explain that when I eat something now it has to be worth it!

Exackery, Diane! That's how I feel about food and eating, too. I do like DC's "featured ingredient" suggestion. That's pretty cool. If y'all or anyone else features an ingredient that turns out well, I'd love to hear about it.

I love new menu ideas. And this winter down in NOLA, I expect NOT to be eating a lot of microwaved power bowls, but instead chopping, slicing, broiling, and sauteing. I have decided NOT to fear the NOLA foodie scene, but to let it inspire me to eat even more nutritiously. :) #PersonalGrowth

Thank you thank you for all your positive energy and support. Believe me when I say I feel it every day- and intend to take that powerful energy into the surgery. I do think my head is resting in a good place and am grateful to have had the time to get it there. Not to discount your positive and beautifully worded intention, but part of getting my head around this is working through the knowing that, right now, this moment all my stuff serves me perfectly well , and that healthy cells and tissues will not be filling the vacated space- there will be a different normal that will not be what it is now.

But- YES-YES to after the procedure. I do intend to show up--and will genuinely celebrate from that moment---where ever I end up, as a total success and make each moment after become better than the last--one baby (or, who knows- GIANT?)step at a time. I am visualizing those cells and tissues knitting together all those bits and pieces together inside and out. I will be become a patchwork quilt serviceable in its' reconstruction and beautiful because of the energy, love, and spiritual growth realized through its' new creation.

Wow- new picture. Truly thanking you, Diane , your words helped take me there.

That menu does sound fantastic. I'm just not that imaginative.

Weight 122.6, calories 1152. Calories weren't exactly where I wanted them this weekend, but they weren't terrible either. I definitely feel the need for some quality time in the bathroom.

SIL arrives mid-day today. In the meantime I have a couple of projects to do and some dry mopping. Nothing onerous. I'm pretty happy about how one of my DIY projects has turned out. I'll do pictures after installation.

DH was very foggy yesterday but not nasty at least. Before bed (at 7 for him), he asked if I had a nice day, so I guess he did? So far I'm not impressed with the new mood drug we are trying (Nuedexta). I don't think it is benefiting him any and maybe making him more out of it (it is supposed to "level" his moods). The psychiatrist said if it didn't help after 3-4 weeks to just stop. It has been almost 2 weeks.

Have a satisfying Sunday!

Good Sunday morning, all!

Yesterday was such a good day- We had Thanksgiving here with the family and friends- The whole schamooolie- and all the time, energy, and effort was totally worth it. I happen to make the world's (got the documentation to prove it- ubetcha) best dressing in the world- gggma's passed down from before the beginning of time, and, as I have done every TG, made all the requested deserts---WARNING--Food Porn to follow---French silk pie, pound cake, NYcheese cake, pecan and pumkin pie, chocolate peanut butter fudge, and a ginger bread man.

It was exhausting. The process and of doing was so worth it. I spilled my love out on that tableboard. The love that was consumed then overflowed. Tummies and souls fed.

Tipping my coffee mug complete with left over whipping cream on top your way with smiles and ditto to the theme above---Live! We are, indeed alive!
