Thank you all for your kind wishes for Chiquita. She went quite peacefully in my arms and is now with our Elise.

We leave for the airport in a couple of hours and will be in Florida by mid-afternoon. From 40 degrees to 86 degrees in less than a day! Most everything is packed and ready to go except a few last minute items. Because I sent boxes with our clothing, we just have to bring one carry-on and Justice in his bag. I'm glad we waited until yesterday to say goodbye to Chiquita because it seems empty around here. She was never in Florida so it won't seem as barren.

I hope you changed your clocks: It sure made it easier to be up early this morning. Have a great Sunday!

Good morning,

From your arms to Elise. Beautiful. It will be so nice to walk into your Florida home.

The weather shifted over night and it looks like the least amount of rain will be in the earliest hours. So, I'll hit the road in a few minutes with hopes that it will be light enough in the woods when I arrive to get started.

Training hikes are just that...training. But, it is also time in nature and there is something purposeful in them that I find satisfying . I am still adapting to deliberately hiking in cold rain. I have 4 pairs of gloves with me today, 2 hats and a wool headband (which keeps my ear buds in as well as my ears warm) For regular clothes: soft shell pants, smart wool base top, a vest (probably kept in my pack), and finally, the all importan****erproof hard shell jacket. The temps really aren't that bad....low 50's, I think.

On my way out.....I hope you all enjoy the day,

Shel

It looks like a wintery week ahead, with highs in the 20s and 30s. I am not a fan of cold weather, and in fact find high 80s to be my preferred temp, yet here I am in Minnesota, retirement still 8 years away. Minneapolis is paradise in the summer and fall. Quality of life measures are super high here, except for the weather. The Vikings game is on, so time for my Costco run.

When I cut out sugar, I maintain. In between sugar abstinence, I gain. After tangling with Halloween candy and traveling treats, I'm back to no sugar and feeling okay. But I need to pick a strategy to actually lose some regain. No carb, low carb, low calorie, high fat, intermittent fasting... where to start?

Good Morning All, Genuine hobble happening this morning! Old body is telling me that I overdid it yesterday. We got the 3 culvert pipes (each weighing 2.5 tonne) DH DSS and I each drove a ute with a trailer. They where loaded with a forklift and it was a balancing act to get the load centrepoint right. Slow trip home then the fun started. Trying to drag them off the ute with the tractor. Ended up with one ute anchoring the other ute - both going forwards while I am on the tractor going flat out the other way. After many slow slides forward we eventually unloaded 2. Then it was over to SIL to help get the rest of the hay out of her paddocks. Loaded 2 tandem trailers and a ute tray top then unloaded at other SIL in her hay shed. Back home for a shower and to grab food I had made and off to family BBQ. I was wrecked - Helped prepare and serve food all night but by 8.00pm I said to DH he had to take me home as I was aching all over and exhausted. Its been a physical few days and my body is letting me know. Working from the farm this morning and we are having a quiet day - The predicted rain has arrived so hoping it goes for a while and soaks the ground. Much needed

Liz - I am glad Chiquita went peacefully x and is now back with Elise - safe trip to Florida

Shel - enjoy hiking :)

Diamond - good luck with cutting out the sugar

I havent really been watching what I eat and dont have scales up here but as I dressed this morning I think I may have dropped a little more weight. Will be able to weigh in Wed morning when I get back to city house.

Best go start the day all

Hope you have a lovely evening

Shirley

Shirl, how old are you?! You're doing not only some massively serious physical work, but some very tricky engineering.

Come the apocalypse, you and your crowd are going to be the ones *****set civilization! Thank you. :)

Hey Ann - 9.30pm and just back at our city home for a week - BUMMER - I will miss the farm like crazy but I have already gone up and checked and tucked in our chooks who live down here for now - cant go back to shop bought eggs !!!

I am 49 next month. The big 50 next year. Body tells me sometimes - Im seeing orth surgeon next Tue to likely get confirmation that its time for the knee replacement - crossing fingers I can hold out a lil longer

My weight loss has allowed me to be a lot more active. I pull up sore but working on a farm is my exercise as I bascially do no other form thereof - Still dropping the weight or being stable. Some weekends up there are more active than others and this long weekend sure was. But I love the sense of achievement :)

Awww blush re thanks - Just love that DH's family is so kind and loving. I lost my sister when she was 35 so Im thankful to have gained 2 sisters and a brother when DH and I partnered. Love spending time with them all and learning country life. Its amazing and so peacefule

Greetings Peeps

Ok lets try this again. OH ate my original post. Took Tesla today to her breeder for final grooming for the upcoming shows. Peps hope to see you.

Liz glad things were peaceful for Chiquita. She was so loved. Safe travels to Florida.

Shel, hiking in the rain and cold? Glutton for punishment. Actually while driving today it occurred to me to become mini Shel as there are many beautiful and easy hikes here. Why not? Those Halloween pounds show no sign of departing.

Shirley your posts make me hurt just to read them! Good on you for getting so much done.

In a couple of hours I have to take my art stuff down to the gallery. Schleepping much stuff. Packing up old and unpacking new and trying to trade spaces with a woodworker. Chaos but it will work.

Thats about it. I am afraid if I write more it will disappear. Diane S

I like to think of myself as a stalwart person, one who can roll with whatever, cope with whatever, but I agree with Diane about Shels hikes in the rain. My feet must be dry and warm at all times during inclement weather or pitiful whining will occur. I know people who actually choose, of their own volition, to go winter camping. Shudder.
