In Praise of Pomegranates

First, here's the praise: https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/12-proven-benefits-of-p omegranate#section1

Second, here's an easy luncheon recipe that incorporates pomegranate, which I just created and loved eating:

  • 1/2 cup pomegranate avrils (that's half the avrils in a big ole pomegranate)
  • 2.5 ounces of feta cheese crumbled up
  • 1 Morningstar Spicy Black Bean veggie burger (sounds weird, but it's not)
  • 2 cups organic lettuces (lots of different greens in that mix at Aldi's)
  • 2 tablespoons Maple Grove fat-free raspberry vinaigrette dressing

Toss and devour!

You're welcome. :)

That sounds delicious! I love the Morningstar Spicy Black Bean burgers!!!!! Nothing weird about those. I will give this a try. Just out of curiosity, do you know the protein count on this? With my current method of eating I have to keep protein relatively high to help with satiety and keeping cravings at bay. I can also just put in in My Plate and figure it out!

Yes ... protein count on this salad (as described above) is 27 grams. Total cals (if you care) are 408 with carbs at 45 and fats at 15 with 9 grams of fiber.

Enjoy. :)

Greetings Fellow Travelers

OH or more likely Steve Jobs ate my post. So this is abbreviated. Was called early to take care of emergency at the studio. Both potties overflowed. Our technician had the plumbers there and took care of things but I had to go in to sign the check to pay. Some of my studio got flooded thanks to error of one of the plumbers. We make them mop with bleach.

GL on your long trip Ann. Driving is indeed tiring. I am getting so I hate it. Used to do road trips all the time. Be safe on yours and have a little fun in NOLA.

Peps, great picture. Shows your inner glow. Hope Ron gets better soon. Good on you for getting him some camo pants.

Thats it for now. More later maybe. Diane S

Thanks, Diane. I'll struggle to have fun in NOLA, which will be very difficult, I fear.

NOT!!!!!!

Tee Hee I was in NOLA with my brothers and mom when I was 17. She took us to a pretty tame drag show. I think it was her way of teaching us about such people and that's the way they are and its all cool. My Mom was a psychology professor and fairly ahead of her time. Will never forget that show. ds

Weight 170, calories 1611

Still staying strong thank goodness. And feeling better in my skin. I seem to be having some success with breakfasts being the same (a protein shake) and the same dinner each night (a protein, broccoli, sweet potato). Lunch has varied and I have a snack of yogurt or cheese. Choice seems to lead me astray. The less I have to think about it, the better I have been doing.

I don't think I'm going to hand out candy this Halloween. I don't want candy in my house in the lead up or the aftermath or to have to fight my cravings touching fun sized bags of it all evening. What's the Halloween equivalent of Bah Humbug?

Bah, Halloween!

Good decision on your part. I endorse it. :)

I have contemplated "cancelling" Halloween at my house for the same reason. However, my love of Halloween as a kid (and perhaps the fact that being a teacher I see the joy the day and night brings to children) I always break down and hand out candy. Some years I do great. Some years the candy wins the battle. I learned a trick years ago to buy candy you don't really like. Theory is that having less appealing candy helps you stay away from it. Works in theory anyway....LOL!

I tried the "buy candy I don't like" trick. Guess what? Turns out my definition of "candy I like" is whatever candy I can get my paws on!

Luckily there are hundreds of houses in my neighborhood handing out candy. My absence won't spoil anyone's fun but mine (I do like seeing the little tiny ones in costumes holding plastic pumpkin candy collectors bigger than they are, but oh well).
