Had a good day, yesterday. The weather here continues to be beautiful! In late afternoon I took a walk around the property that just knocked my socks off. Afterwards on the front porch I sipped a gin martini following the recipe of the head bartender at Harry's Bar in Venice. And then last night, a nearly full moon rose! Tonight's the real deal - in October it's called "Hunter's Moon." Sometimes, life does not suck.
Remember the new lower-maintenance border plantings that were to have been done a month ago? They're finally (just now) happening. But no worries ... they're going to be lovely next spring/summer.
Today it's a typical Wednesday - pool, errands, walking. And more beautiful weather.
I hope you all have a good day. I do notice that we seem to be climbing out of our recent respective troughs (although DiamondD's sciatica sounds painful!). Regardless of what language we use to describe it, we each do seem to be good at beginning anew. And since this thing called life insists on being erratic, I guess there's no reason to expect such a hard-wired aspect of life will ever cease. It just goes round and round, so let's relax a bit.
Today's theme brought to you by Neil Young: "Harvest Moon"

Yes the moon is beautiful!
Follow up appointment with neurosurgeon this morning. Early appointment so we drove to the house last night. Divide and conquer travel time. 2 appointments for me tomorrow and 1 more on Friday. All near the house so we will be here through the weekend. Eyes, Psych, Cardiac, Hearing and neurosurgery. I should be set for a year.
I have decided that I miss this house. If am am to build a smaller house I will need to sell what we have. That will be sad I expect. I worked on it for so long and remodeled more than once in the process. It is nice to have it here in the case of needing it to care for our parents.
We have a huge white oak tree in our front yard in the woods. The deer are grazing every night. There is a fawn that really does not know what to do with me coming out to look at her. She remains grazing on acorns until I walk to the shop. Then she scampers back to the woods only to come back to the acorn buffet within 15 minutes. It is fun to see her bounce off as she figures out her human neighbors.
DW said I should win the award for being the most fashion backward. Yesterday s post should prove that.
more later, David

David, I view you as an artistic soul who wears black and doesn't waste your energy on mere clothing.

Ah, David- You just THINK you can knock me off that particular fashion pedestal! Bring it on, young son--(although I will be happy to share it with one as pleasant as you).
Love-love those "all in one and done for the year" medical check offs. It's like a personal medical binge --a bit exhausting, but, wow- clears the desk off nicely.

This picture was fall a year ago. I can't tell you the last time I saw the sun, it wasn't windy and raining and it was above 45 degrees. I NEED sun and warmth !!! We've been going to bed earlier and earlier and waking up earlier and earlier usually 8 PM through 2:30 AM. Not good. Last night, when we learned Hurricane William may hit here as a nor'easter by the end of the weekend we scheduled an impromptu week in California. The time change combined with the upcoming shift out of Daylight Savings and some sun and warmth are sure to revitalize and jump start energy and healthier sleeping patterns !!! Leave for San Diego a week from tomorrow ! Make your own new beginning !!!

Yes! California! Always a good decision!
Lately, I've been having obsessive fantasies about Big Sur, Ventana, and Nepenthe!

A trip to California sounds like a necessity! Rainy dark days can be terribly depressing.
