Yesterday before I left for the big city my therapist's office called to cancel my session, because (weak excuse!) he claims to be suffering from flu.
Consequently, I enjoyed a free day, since my Aquarobics class had already started before I got the cancellation call. In lieu of splashing, I walked some extra steps and ate well, meaning nutritiously, not ice cream.
The weather here is glorious . . . sunny, a little warmer (yet still crisp), with trees goldening up a bit as autumn advances. Recent sunrises have been downright glamorous.
For the record, I also have fancy cowboy boots. Black. Tall. But no ostrich pimples. For dancing. And this morning, in solidarity with Shel's DH and Devon, I'm wearing them to yoga class with tights and a tutu. And then I'm wearing that rig to my dental appointment. Because I can if I want to. :)
Today's theme: Vegas, baby!

When I lived in Texas, I had cowboy boots- a lovely golden tan. It has been years. Kansas boot attire-- (the work boots are a pair of my favorites--they are over 22 years old and still look great!) The knee boots- just for fun and gotten because for once, I could get a pair over my calves.
Tu tu indeed--I am so jealous--but not quite that bold. There is a sweetie-pie student I work closely with for whom I seem to be a questionable fashion wonder. I wear just about anything from the 80's onward, and show up business casual more often as not. (definitely not current teacher motif ). The other day, breaking that trend, she commented that, "Why, Mrs. M, you are dressed for the 21st century today!", and suggested that in the future, I should call her daily to get advise on how to deal properly with my closet each morning, since I obviously had uptodate "stuff" in there, and should be wearing it instead of my antique things.
The freedom of age, Ann, is definitely what you said: "Because I can if I want to".

Here's a brief interruption of the boot parade: At least this is not us (at least not most of the time)

Nope. Not us. Not most of the time.
I must confess, however, that on a serious road trip I am a SUCKAH! for a McDonald's Egg McMuffin.
And in more urban climes, I am a SUCKAH! for Starbuck's lower-calorie turkey/egg-white/white cheddar breakfast sandwich. That's really quite good.
And also (guilty, guilty pleasure) McDonald's 160-calorie vanilla ice cream cone, although there's no way that thing is only 160 calories. Yet, I order it anyway maybe 5-6 times a year.

Off to Boulder Colorado today (via Denver)! DH has had a wonderful visit with BIL. The weather sure cooperated and we ate and drank some great food and wine. Yesterday we went to the Rose Garden and because the weather has been so warm, the roses are still out and gorgeous.
Now I have to get dressed and packed, then get DH to the same point.

Oh, Liz! This is why Portland is known as the City of Roses. So beautiful there. I love that town.

Weight is bouncing around but seems to have a set point. Eating has been mostly good except for the off the rails with premeditated ice cream or cookies. I made Chili, then vegetable soup, then a different vegetable soup then tuna salad and today I will make vegetable soup again. It must be in the weather to want the warm meals.
Adalyn is feeling better. I hope I will be cleared to pick her up soon.
It is starting to cool off here. Much like Ann's weather. The dogs have the brooder light over their beds in the shop. They sleep toasty.
The boot talk lately has been entertaining. I told DW I was going to get boots and a real cowboy hat when we moved here to the woods. She laughed because I rarely wear hats unless I am told to and I hate wearing boots. I wear NewBallance 990 most of the time. They are mostly made here in AR. I like the gortex NB 910 because they keep my feet dry. They just do not last long. I also wear Birks but mostly just around the house. As for the rest of my clothes I have duluth trading post long tail pocket T's in assorted colors and I wear a single style of pant. The pants are black because they were out of any other color. I just happen to find them in a non black and DW said buy them, buy them now. I wear colors for DW. I am most comfortable in all black. Shopping with depression, creative / artsy personality, stain resistant who knows? DW picks up stuff for me to wear but it mostly stays in the closet. It is more how I feel in it than style. So for now 100 percent cotton Ts and 4 way stretch pants made from alien fibers that take extra wear and wick moisture like nothing on earth. I do have 2 pairs of boots Both heavily insulated if I have to be out in the cold long. One is army surplus mickey mouse boot. I never did buy cowboy boots or hat.
Seek peace, do good. More later, David
