Good morning!

I have two prepared mugs of coffee next to me because I am just that lazy. And a caffeine *****

Oh, I hope that little Adalyn wakes up feeling better. Ann, I am sorry for your loss. Just so sorry. Liz, are you with me on the West coast? DianeS, are you going to show Tesla yourself? DianeO, being the home's only administrator stinks. Peps, you are right--don't jostle the beast, especially since he has a catheter. (Dear God...til Nov 1st? Poor guy). Shirl, yes pics, please. Maybe pics of cows sometime. (My mom complains that most of our family pics are of cattle bums)

And, about spouses blaming spouses in the house their poor eating -- super common. Just yesterday, 2 peeps blamed household potato chips on spouse. (Yesterday seemed to be all about potato chips) This type of conversation comes up organically in lipid and blood pressure appt's. I am not a dietitian and don't pretend to be one.

To one, I commented "I have my husband store that kind of thing in the garage so I don't have took at it" and the patient weakly said "well, they are for me." Maybe his spouse is trying to kill him.

As DianeS says, life can change in an instant. Let's try to make that instant count towards the positive today and turn our spiral around. Plant a tulip or some such thing. I am going to go to a cross country meet....I so enjoy watching those kids do their thing.

Hugs all around,

Shel

Shel--Sounds like you continue to walk the positive and perky path! I join you in the House of Coffee Madness (that place of ill repute where junkies just can't lay the cup-o down...I thought I saw Diane S there this morning also).

I would blame DH on that 2nd pot this morning, but that would be "spouse blaming", and like you meek and mild patient, must confess that I was the one to grind and make said 2nd pot-

Dave, so good to hear from you and that your back seems to be progressing well. I hope Adalyn feels better soon - it seems like she has gone through a lot of illness already.

Weight ?, calories ? DH made it through the long travel day relatively well and was thrilled to see his brother. He took a nap in the afternoon and we were able to stay up until 9 here in Portland before crashing. And I slept until 7 am! Yeah! I am drinking my coffee and admiring the view out the back window this morning:

Weight 174.8 Not good, but 2.4 down from a shocking weigh in yesterday

Calories 1361

Day one of reigning myself in went okay. I made salmon for dinner and it was gross. They are those frozen fillets in individual packets that are usually just fine, but these tasted yucky. So in the garbage they go. Made for a disappointing dinner considering I didn't have much yesterday.

I also started tracking in MyFitnessPal again. Not doing it is "ostriching" even if I think I'm doing okay. But I haven't been doing okay with my eating. And I restarted recording my weight in a weight tracker again. While I'd been weighing myself daily, I wasn't recording it in the app that gives me graphs. Another way of ignoring what was happening. Recording it makes it more real that just seeing it on the scale for a few seconds. Why is it so easy to give up habits you know keep you healthy?

Sending good thoughts to all this beautiful Saturday...

You've got this, Cecily! MyFitnessPal and weight tracking is probably a good idea. I use Trendweight much the way Diane O is tracking her #1 Weight Range. The graph helps me see the overall picture and takes the herkie-jerky response to daily so called victories and failures- which often time are unreliable indicators.

Bummer on the salmon--one of my favorite fish--makes it doubly disappointing when it is not as delightful as expected.

Thank you for the cyber-good thoughts. I am especially feeling it today. Smiles your way, too.

SIL made these last night - fantastic! I had mine without a bun.

Oh my word! I am down to 255 today. That is 7 pounds gone since my return from Pennsylvania. 5 of those left this work week. How cool is that? Must be doing something right....LOL.... Yeah, doofus, it's called No Sugar!

Ron is feeling better, but I can tell he's exhausted. I don't think he realized how energy zapping healing from trauma and chronic illness can be. I think now that he understands he's been "sick" for a long while, he's relaxing into trying to get well, rather than push himself. He informed me he needed to do the laundry today. I put my foot down and said NO! I can do the laundry.

For all you nursey type folks out there... you should get a kick out of this: Ron has a pee catcher bag strapped to his leg. (Sorry don't know the correct term for the bag, but I do like pee catcher!). He broke the little clip at the end without realizing it and his bag leaked all over the floor and the area rug where his recliner sits. Poor guy was sooooo embarrassed and upset. He was getting so frustrated I asked if I could please, please help him. He finally allowed me to clean him up, clean the floor and get his bag situated. I, the resourceful teacher, found a binder clip, folded the rubber tube upon itself and clamped the sucker shut. It's held without leaking! I felt like a good nursey nurse.

After my little rant about being blamed for Ron's poor eating, I did feel a little sheepish, but not very much. However, my BFF and Ron work in the same school. Talk around the lunch room table yesterday centered around all the junky food they see Ron eat at lunch and during the school day. Ha! So, I felt somewhat vindicated or validated. Take you pick. I think it's a little bit of both! LOL!

Our spirits here are good. At least mine are! I think Ron is still processing through everything and trying to make sense of things. I'm pleased that he is sleeping again. He was running on nerves yesterday and didn't even nap. I'm hoping lots of napping happens today!

Had to get a new prescription for Pink Eye. The first was not doing the trick. This new one seems to be kicking the conjunctivitis to the curb. With only 2 doses, I am noticing improvement. Hallelujah!

Hope baby Adalyn is feeling better. Has she gotten ear tubes yet? If not, I'm thinking it may be time. Liz, enjoy Portland. It's a great time to be in the Northwest. We generally have slow steady autumns here with mild temps instead of too crisp. Though, I do miss the autumn weather of Northeast. I did really enjoy my NYC & Connecticut fall in 1988. Diane O. hope today is more positive and solutions present themselves. Diane S. I am still planning on the Napa Shows (Saturday and Sunday only though). BB, glad you got some rest and things are going okay in DH's absence. Dave, so good to see you start the thread today. Glad you are healing well and getting mobile. Love and best wishes to all!
