Calories. Energy in and energy out. Yup that's what it boils down to in the end, but I do think there is a lot to be said about the types of calories one chooses to eat and how that relates to weight loss. Also, when you factor in dopamine receptors and dopamine output triggered by the types of foods eaten, calories in can be less of an issue than the types of calories (macros) consumed. I can eat 1200 calories of protein and be far more satisfied and mentally quiet than if I had 1200 calories of high flour, high sugar food. So, while I do believe people who are normal around food can handle weigh****chers types of programs, for someone like me it's probably not the best in the long run. Pink Eye meds are slow to work. Today my eyes are itchy burny! Burns like the dickens after putting the drops in!!!!

"Diet" is going well. Saw some really nice movement downward on the scale this morning. I was down to 257 this am. I haven't been in the 250s for some time (maybe 6-8 weeks), so that makes me happy. That first drop is always motivating. FYI the "diet" is about a 1200-1300 calorie a day plan with under 100 carbs, 140 grams protein, about 40 grams fat. Of course, the focus is no sugar and no refined flour. My focus for now is to manage just the no sugar part. I've limited refined flour severely, but not eliminated in 100%. I'm just not quite there!

Will try to catch up on reading all posts tonight! Happy Hump Day to one and all.

Yes, yes, yes. There are calories, and then there are Calories. The one is fine and dandy, the other begets mischief, mayhem and madness.

I love your description.....mischief, mayhem and madness. Put that in your book.

Weight 174.4 grr.

I went to my new dentist this morning. It's only my third dentist in 46 years! The first was my pediatric dentist I was with until high school, then my last dentist I had for 30 years. He just retired. I liked this new one. And the dentist actually did the cleaning. Never had that happen! I got a backhanded compliment... "Your teeth look really good for your age." Um, thanks?

Then I dragged my carcass to Pilates whre the focus was on a ton of core today. My core (especially lower center) sucketh right now. But I suppose it only gets better with effort.

I have had the whole house fan on the last two nights so as to not have to hear the neighbors. The fan is loud, but creates good white noise. And it sucks the cold air in from the outside, which makes snuggling under heavy blankets heavenly. It was 58 degrees in my house when I woke up this morning. Brrr.

I've picked up my knitting again in hopes of finishing a wrap for a friend before it gets warm again (I'm slow). Hopefully it'll keep my hands free of food too.

Take care all!

Weight twins with Ann today, 133.2

I've been getting in 10,000 + steps most days which is good. Not nearly as fit as I was before Ben got sick though. Planning a hike with Kevin tomorrow, temps in the mid 50's and supposed to be sunny.

I have not been on regularly enough to give too many shout outs. Congrats on baby BB. And Shel, I too was wondering about your training for the big climb.

Stunning Fall colors Diane O!

Wow with the weight! I wish I had the proper motivation to drop my 4. I have to be super stringent now apparently to do it.

Enjoyed the bovine banter. My Grandparents had a dairy farm in northern Minnesota, a hard place to make a living. Timber, hay, cattle and dairy cows are your farming options. My Dad was a large animal veterinarian, sometimes it was like All Creatures Great and Small, but mostly it was smelly, hard work for this conscripted surgical assistant. My Dad still contends that a vet's version of hell is an eternity spent dehorning.

My Mom got her biopsy results today, and sadly, it was what I suspected~ the same type of tumor she had 7 years ago. Now we wait for the treatment plan. Her team is meeting Thursday. The good news still is the pet scan didn't show any other sites than this penny sized tumor.

4 day weekend, no school Thursday and Friday. After 3 weeks of below average temps (some days waaaay below) it might reach 70 tomorrow. Perfect fall day!

I am sorry for your news. Penny sized tumor begone with the help and expertise of your mom's medical staff, her courage and determination, and God's great grace and love.

Best wishes for your mom.

As the local vet, your dad was a God of that community....and you his cute side kick.
