BB, Great news. You talked about having another child. We adopted and raised a sibling group of 3. 2 that were 11 months apart. And a third child not much more than that. Challenges and blessings. Sometimes it takes extra planning but I think you are up for it. Besides all of the toys can be passed down. Maybe some clothes too. Best wishes. David

Greetings Fellow Maintainers

I wish I were maintaining but I seem to be slowly gaining. 152 today though poor potty performance yesterday. We shall see what today brings.

Ann, glad you are recovering from the lung issues and that you have a free weekend. Too many guests can wear you down - at least it does me but I am an introvert.

Begin anew indeed! I should start by some seriously healthy grocery shopping and not just the quick trips that I am prone to. Getting tired of the same old protein options and need to refresh cooking options. Ann I love the power bowls but DH does not.

Speaking of DH he is doing better and easing up on the pain meds. I think he is getting cabin fever since he is not able to do the 3 mile dog walks. Tesla is definitely getting cabin fever.

Not much excitement planned for today. We are having a fall sale at the studio to clear out loads of stuff so I will be cashier for awhile. Its where I get rid of my crappy stuff real cheap. Others do the same.

Liz that Lavender is so cute. Love the white whiskers on black face. Hope she and Justice reach an understanding soon. Hey if you want to see some funny looking cats, there is a website called "Cats that look like Hitler".

Yoo Hoo, Paula, hope you are ok.

So glad we have some new active members here. Looking forward to knowing you.

Time for more coffee for this little chickadee. Diane S

Diane, I'm glad DH is feeling better. A cranky, sick husband who's verbal about his discomforts can certainly make life stressful on the caregiver! I say that based on my observations of my cranky brothers-in-law, not dear hubby who was NOT a complainer.

Here's to continued recovery for your DH and some relief for you. :)

It sounds like DH has turned the corner, which is good news.

I know what you mean about needing new protein options. I often eat the same thing over and over again and am generally okay with that to a point. THEN it is time for something new (or better yet a revival of something I used to make and forgot about).

137.4

Just spent some time catching up on posts from this week. Wow so much going on. I hope all trials and tribulations have resolved themselves- and we are experiencing healthy babies, happy doggies in their new playpens, Cecily, I'm glad your hematologist is on top of things and you get to the bottom of your clotting issues, DH's receptive to reaching out when help is needed (that is a hard one, Shel. Like David, I am an example of "the other side of things, and the ***** is that- being in a state of depression is a Catch -22-- ie: I know that I am depressed, and need to do something about it--but cannot seem to do so Because--I'm depressed. Depression to me means living in the despair of chronically living in a state of Static immobility--physically, emotionally--all of it becomes like stuck in cement.)

So glad Sadie is happy and healthy (beautiful picture), that Diane's DH's surgery is successful and that your bones are in good stead, Ann's regimen of medication is concluded, congratulations to Peps and Lucky! (and thanks for the update on stephanieplum).

So, Diane O- in response to your question about where I hope to be weight wise for surgery. This is a bit of a concerning issue due to the nature of the Whipple procedure - (still haven't finalized--will go in for final contrast CT, consultation and pre-op on Nov. 8th)- if this happens, along with the head of the pancreas , the bile duct, part of the small intestine (something similar to a Rouen X) and part of the stoma*****luding at least the pyloric valve, will be removed. All of the remaining bits, having been detached, are then sort of reattached. There will be some readjusting to deal with in the area of foods, and may take some time to resolve, so I suspect to drop a bit, ya think? One thing that happens (hopefully only temporarily) will be a condition called gastroparesis, which, coincidentally, is what Diamond D mentioned the other day re. the rapid weight loss experienced by her friend's daughter. The hope is this event does not linger over long.

So will wait and see, and take things as they come. I am currently as low as I care to go, and have consciously increased some high caloric stuff- peanut butters, nuts, cream, etc...anything except junk carbs which do no nutritional good to try to stay where I am. There have been some changes, and since school started, I've dropped from 10s-12s to 6-8 sized clothes. The 12s to 10 was intentional- 8s ok, but the 6s...not so much.

  goal!!! August 20, 2013   age: 59  High weight: 345 (June, 2011)  Consult weight: 293 (June, 2012)  Pre-Op: 253 (Nov., 2012) Surgery weight: 235 (Dec. 12, 2012) Current weight: 145

TOTAL POUNDS LOST- 200 (110 pounds lost before surgery, 90 pounds lost Post Op.diabetes in remission-blood pressure normal-cholesterol and triglyceride levels normal!  BMI from 55.6  supermorbidly obese to 23.6  normal!!!!

Thanks for the update Bonnie. We were all wondering where you are in the surgery game. Not glad you have to do it but glad things are progressing. Yep, eat some nuts and cheeses for all of us. It seems so foreign to worry about too much weight loss but you gotta watch that.

I have heard that in most any type of gut surgery intestines stop moving for awhile but then they start up on their own. (remember after vsg that nurses kept asking if you farted yet!!!).

Take Care. Diane S
