Remember that since Atlas is a service dog (the real deal!) he is exempt from the FAA requirements for shipping canines as live cargo. Atlas will be allowed to accompany Chuck in the airplane cabin. Having traveled with Jackson as a service dog (yes, legit then, but not now) I would recommend paying the few dollars extra for extra leg room seating and sitting in the bulkhead row of economy right behind 1st class. Plenty of room for Atlas to curl up in front of the seat. Jackson had no trouble with that seating.

Good Morning All

Little later this morning but made it. Another busy day - New Flyscreens being installed between 11-2. Picking up a winch for DH after work then onto get my annual eye check - then collect a slow cooker I have bought for my stepdaughter as a surprise. We are being naughty tonight and having Pizza as mum loves it and never gets it on her own.

Ocean - so glad Sadie is doing much better - that picture was gorgeous. Dogs are just so special

Have the washing on already and been working since 7.30am. Mums continuing to heal well - she will head home tommorrow as we are going to our farm for the weekend.

Have a lovely evening all

Shirley :)

Got on the scale today. Up about a pound and a half. I am loathe to put the number to cyber paper, but heck...262. What is the saying, "The truth shall set you free"? I was up 4 times last night peeing. Hoping that I will continue to reduce water weight over the next few days.

Well, tomorrow is the day that I am slated to begin a non sugar, healthy and weight loss focused eating regimen. Oh, all the emotional red flags are waving! The only real thing that is a valid excuse for postponing is that I have not shopped nor prepared for the start of this regimen. I am torn between jumping on the stick and taking off and being well prepared. I am thinking that well prepared may be the better option... We'll see what my energy level is this evening to get my **** together.

One of my long time co teachers (she's been at the same school with me for 25 years...) has a daughter who she says is 5'7" (though I believe may be closer to 5'5"-5'6"). I guess an inch or two doesn't really matter in this case. We've all heard of the freshman 15. Well her freshman 15 went the other way. She has always been a willowy girl, but losing 15 pounds put her mom on red flag alert. Poor kid is down to 99 pounds! There seems to be no medical reason, but she is now also having stomach cramps after eating. Scary stuff. Emaciation is just as scary as obesity. My co teacher is wondering if her daughter doesn't have on some level an eating disorder. Anyway, all that to say, it makes me realize how wide a pendulum swing food and weight issues really have.

I was looking at statistics on over weight and obesity today. The most recent data is several years old, but it is staggering to me. Of all the adults in the USA 70.2% are overweight or obese. More adults (37.7%) are obese than are overweight (32.5%). Kind of scary that the US is a country in which the majority of the population is overweight. I did notice in PA that people were heavier in general than they are in my area of California. I saw the same in suburban Atlanta this summer. I think I live in a particularly health conscious area of the country. Which, when I think about it, makes being obese even more noticeable.

Well, I suppose I am babbling. I shall stop. It is now 6:00 pm and I have been writing this post since about 9:00 am in fits and spurts. Oh, well....

Be well.....

One of my nieces had a similar experience with rapid weight loss. Eating disorder suspected. Finally a diagnosis, I forget the name, but it's when the intestines stop their wave like motion that carries food through the system. They think it was a complication of influenza. Her's was still moving very slowly, but if she did eat, it would sit in her system for days. She ended up being put on an eating program that progressed very much like our post WLS diets. Over time, her system healed, and as she says, I can eat like a normal person. So your friend's daughter could have an eating disorder, but I would work very hard to rule out anything physical. If my sil had not, my niece would have received the wrong treatment.

Red flag for anorexia or bulimia. The "stomach cramps" could be an excuse. It is a tough disease (as is obesity obviously).

Problem is she does eat. She is trying really hard to NOT lose weight. It's an interesting and scary issue.

Definitely scary. I hope they get to the bottom of it. I red flagged because one of our friend's daughters suffered from it and somehow her family thought she was eating for years when she was vomiting. Luckily after many years she has done well enough to become a Mom though she still struggles when stressed.

Weight 170

Not much to share today. I went to Pilates and then to a birthday lunch with the girls. I did give in and get Chinese for dinner, but couldn't eat much. The sleeve is good. I could have put away a whole lot more before. But it means I'll be eating Chinese for a while.

DianeO, soooo glad Sadie is feeling better!
