Good morning!
DianeO, I am grateful that Sadie improved! You are right, it puts the SS incident into perspective.
On DH's: DianeS, I'm glad yours doesn't need a second surgery. (Whew!). Liz, love that kitty!
I'm pretty worried my DH, he is home again today from work, this time for headache. I feel strongly he needs to talk to someone but he says "I just need to get thru this time." I see so much of his dad's behavior in him -- maybe it is simply depressive behavior: "no one can help me" as he lays in bed. He won't see his doctor because he doesn't like him. That's ok, most doctors can't fix this in 10 minutes and DH won't want to take meds. The doc is going to say "get thee to counseling."
I'm going to give him a specific name/contact number of a counselor that one of my friend's DH sees. Her DH and my DH have a lot of similar personality traits. The two DH's have met, I think my DH would respect his recommendation tho I doubt he will call.
Otherwise, I don't know what to do.
As for me, I have a phone call today with an uphill trainer. He will set up a 8 week training plan to help with Rainier. My justification for the expense: 1) there isn't an app for that 2) I don't have the personal skills to do it 3) training to go up a glaciated mtn is outside most local personal trainers skillset 4) it is a lot cheaper than a local personal trainer.
Have a terrific day!
Shel

Shel, I respect your thinking on both these issues.
"There is no app."
I wish there were.

I've been reading and thinking of each one of you. Sick kid takes it out of me so forgive me for not responding.
Call from sitter yesterday: she was vomiting and dry heaving again. 5 times in one episode. Her eyes looked sick. I took her into the Dr. He did abdominal ultrasound and thankfully nothing congenitally wrong (apparently sometimes those parts can turn over and present itself through vomiting). He thinks she's constipated. Can hardly see how that's the case since she's had both kinds of diapers every day, but okay I'll try it. Had the great joy of giving Becca an enema last night. Mom points -100. So thankful hubby gets in tomorrow night this week. Need him back!
Devon thank you soo much for pet tips. Yes, I think I will have to get her a play pen. Only question is what about bigger dog. She's fine so I guess just leave her out? (She actually does like being confined and spends most of her day wedged between the couch and wall--but I'd much rather her use the doggy door as she normally does than clean up that massive mess!!!) I think I need a doggy holiday. Like I said, I know I"m failing them and it breaks my heart. So first we're gonna get them to the doctor, then get them all clean (clean dogs make for snuggly dogs). And then I think I will get them new puppy beds and treats and the exercise pen.
As for the weightloss deal: here's one for Ripley's: I'm 166.6 today. Ugh! I have been hungrier, but I've also been eating at home, theoretically wayyy healthier than I did eating out in Aspen.
Ex: last night I had 2 turkey meatloaf muffins (99% ff turkey meat), 1/4 c. boxed mashed potatoes, 1/4 c. mixed veggies. But then there was that bowl of cereal to end the night....
I'm giving myself grace today. I think we should all do that. I'm not saying don't keep putting up the fight. I'm simply allowing myself to not be perfect. Because sometimes my attempts at perfection=failing=really driving the danged diet thing into a ditch (ordering chinese food, anyone?!) Today I try to avoid the ditch and hope to keep my kid well and me sane :)
Hope Becca feels better soon ! Good job "mommy knowing" by looking in her eyes !!

Is you healthier food more volume and fiber? I think fiber holds water, too. So, maybe something like that?
Constipation.....fingers crossed that the enema was helpful. (And yes, having DH right there for support would have been so much better.) I have many stories of DD and suspected constipation but won't bore you except to say the most recent conversation was just yesterday. I wish there was an app for that.

I sure hope Becca is better today. I don't think there is anything harder than having a sick child.

Greetings Pet Lovers,
151.5 today so that's better. DianeO I am so glad Sadie is doing better. She is a princess among canines! Love the picture of her and Atlas. Priceless. A sick dog is so upsetting because they can't tell you what is wrong. Yeah, puts the scape on SS in perspective.
BB, so sorry Becca is not feeling well. Kids get sick. Fact of life. Hope she is better soon.
And ditto for your DH, Shel. Men can be so aggravating when they won't take care of themselves - don't seem to understand that it impacts others.
I am grateful that my DH is doing better. He had convinced himself he needed another surgery. Ice packs are helping. But he keeps thinking up different ways to take his pain meds. I say why not take as instructed by the doctor. I think the pain meds are making him a bit dopey.
Well my dexa scan results showed no change so thats good. I was sure I would get drugs so grateful not to. I have been taking my calcium and D and would pat myself on the back if I could reach. Also my BP issue has settled down. White coat anxiety. Plus I got a flu shot. Good to go.
Hey Paula glad you are enjoying life. Keep it up. Love your stories.
Shirley I too am curious about the dish you are making with the pork roast. I have been in a cooking rut lately. Need ideas.
Rain everywhere. Only a little here but the rainy season is on the way.
Loads of errands to run today. Better get at it.

Hey
Here is a recipe I based it off - Its delicious and a lighter meal. You can use any leftover roast meat or cook up minced meat. Cooking is a passion of mine - that coupled with a dislike of waste - my family eats all sorts of concoctions
