All of the prayers and promises I sent up to the universe have been answered ! Throughout the day, Sadie dramatically improved from a shaking dog unable to stand, carried into the Vet to just about normal. The Vet wanted her confined to her crate, to limit attempts to move and the possibility of falling. He called us to check on her throughout the day. Throughout it all, she wagged her tail enthusiastically, ate with gusto, and remained alert and continent. I made lots of promises I now have to keep, the three major ones being : I don't care how many times I trip over her on the kitchen floor when cooking or cleaning, it will not frustrate me; she gets one walk a day with just me, no matter what; when she puts her head in my lap for attention, I'll stop what I'm doing to acknowledge that need. So, so, so grateful! It puts SS scratches in perspective !

BB, hope DH hears soon ! Can't wait to see your annual Fall decorations ! Dave, so glad you are recovering well and following doctor's orders. Diane, it is good you and DH were reassured that his recovery is on track. Shel, it is wise to be open to adjusting your goal range with the input from upcoming body composition. Muscle mass and the energy required for it to take you where you want to go do impact the scale. Devon, glad you and Lucky are safely back on the same coast ! Your experience sure makes me think twice about flying with Atlas and Chuck. For so many reasons, DH could not be separated from Atlas in that high stress situation. Paula, enjoy those hormones ! Sushi dinner with your son...he looked genuinely proud and happy to be dining with his Mom. Liz, can't wait to see kitty pictures ! Ann, you continue to be my mental image of serenity. I picture you, on your porch fresh and relaxed after chores well done, raising a glass to the setting sun. Bonnie 150.. have you thought about where you'd like to be weight wise, going in to surgery? A bit in reserve wouldn't be a bad thing. I was hospitalized with cellulitis at 132, and ended up at 125, which was not a good weight for me.

Sorry if I missed anyone. Sadie just came and put her head in my lap. Promises to keep !

LOVE!

Jackson's family did the same on his last day with us. His daughter and two of the grandchildren laid in a circle around him. I felt they were guarding and protecting him in his last hours. It was very touching.

I only saw this on my phone yesterday so couldn't get the detail. What a tribute to Atlas sensitivities! No wonder we love our pets so much.

Oh, Diane O ... your fur babies are precious! I'm so happy to hear Sadie's doing so much better and that your Serenity Scale rating is in ascendance. :)

It's been raining here since yesterday afternoon ... could be due to Hurricane Michael, or not ... ? :) We always need rain here, so happy to have it. The moisture will make for an even prettier fall color later this month.

Yesterday I took my last Prednisone, but am still taking Doxycycline twice a day and the Albuterol sulfate before exercise. I'm looking forward to finishing these meds! The most difficult Prednisone side-effect thus far has been sleeplessness, and we know what that can lead to -- extra calories.

On the good medical news front, the doctor I saw yesterday who will do my colonoscopy says we can wait until after Christmas to do that test to ensure it will be covered by Medicare. Works for me!

Last night's women?s club social included an auction to raise money for some educational charities, and I came home with an order for a rack of barbequed ribs and sides (I'll pick all that up this Friday afternoon, just in time for weekend company), a pretty little red, ceramic birdhouse, and some luscious grilling sauce that will be amazing on salmon. Not bad winnings, compared to some of the stuff I've drug home after similar events.

Today's theme (sticking with it): Begin anew!

I just snapped a pic of Ann and her freshly caught salmon. (PS, that strength training is coming along nicely!)

Thank goodness Sadie is okay! It sure does put things in perspective when our loved ones are stricken.

Weight 121, calories 1377. DS cooked for all of us, so I went off my eating plan. But it was worth it! Amazing what someone who knows how to cook can do with food!

This afternoon I should be picking up Lavender (picture below) from the shelter. She is 9 months old and has recovered from a broken leg (which is why there is a delay so the vet can do one more check). She was jumping all over the place, very affectionate and playful so I don't expect any issues, though they say she has to be an indoor cat only. That is fine as they can become coyote food here when out. It will be interesting to see how she and Justice get on. We got to read a lot about her as she was fostered while the leg healed and the foster mom wrote a lot about her. She got along well with their dog but didn't with their cat.

Have to run in a minute as I am driving my stepdaughter to the bus. She is taking it to the airport to fly To Jacksonville FL for an interview.

Begin Anew!
