Greetings Tuesday Terrifics
152 today. Not good. Just plain eating too much event though it doesn't seem like a lot and its not junk food. Ok mostly not. Plus too much wine. Gotta put the skids on that.
Took DG back to his surgeon today. DH was sure the surgery had failed and the hernia reemerged. Turns out it was just a lot of swelling that is pretty normal. He just wasn't prepared for the degree of pain and swelling. So that's all good. So more TLC in order for him.
I have my own doctor apt today to follow up on bp issue plus dexa scan results. I expect to be on an osteo drug soon. Ann do you recommend the prolia? I would rather do that 6 month shot than more frequent pills.
Ann good on you for getting those chores done. I am doing more around the house since DH can't stoop over or lift anything. As I empty the dishwasher I remind myself how fortunate I am to be able to do all this stuff.
Oh no! SS has a scrape!! It amazes me how people can drive those vehicles without destroying everything. Hope its nothing that impacts function.
Hey BB, I kept a friend's yorkie while the friend recovered from surgery. I kept it in an ex pen at night or when I was not at home. It did fine like Pep's said. That became her territory.
Nice picture Liz. Not too many sailing days left.
Polish those awards Peps. And hug that Lucky.

I will hug my Lucky boy as soon as I get him back. He flew home from Newark, NJ to LAX yesterday. He will stay with the handlers at their kennel until next week when they come up to Pleasanton for the Del Valle shows. Funny, they had no trouble getting him home on United out of Newark. An acquaintance of mine was refused passage for her dog on United altogether. Couldn't even get her Airedale to the east coast for the show.

Thank goodness DH doesn't need more surgery! I hope your bone density news is good, but I know many of us end up on those drugs (my PCP wanted to wait a year and recheck but I may end up on something at that point)..

OMG! I hate OH sometimes! I highlighted a single word to delete and it took my whole friggin post! So to recreate....
First, I really love the theme of "Beginning Anew". It is so much more positive that Getting Back on Track or JFDI! (ShirlAUS, JFDI is our groups acronym for Just F---ing Do It!)
I forgot to weigh this morning. My ankles and feet were so swollen when I got off the plane last night that they actually hurt! Even the bottoms of my feet felt weird when I first started down the terminal. When I got home and took off my shoes, my feet and ankles were a sight to behold! It was as if my ankles had a muffin top there was so much swelling. Not like me to get that swollen, though I do swell up every time I fly. So, it was probably a "Freudian" moment slipping in that got me to avoid weighing. HAHAHA! I will weigh tomorrow - unless I forget again, though I doubt I will.
Thank you for the congratulations! I'm still riding the high and congratulations are still coming over Lucky's big wins on Sunday. Winning at Montgomery is monumental in the terrier world. Montgomery County Kennel Club is the most prestigious terrier show in the world. People come from all over the globe to see the high caliber of dogs shown there. So, yeah, I'm a happy doggy daddy! LOL! I love that the richie rich German guy offered to buy Lucky as he came out of the ring - even before he won.
Another plus/delta of the weekend is that since Lucky is such an attractive young male A LOT of photographs and videos were taken of him and posted on social media. Well, most of those pictures include me on the other end of the lead. Some of those photos are terribly unflattering of me and show with no charity the full effects of my regain. While horrifying on a certain level, I am more struck by the fact that I must "Begin Anew". The photos have been illustrative of what I have allowed to happen to my body and my overall health the past two years. The plus side is that some of the photos are rather flattering and for some reason don't show the full extent of my regain. Either way, it doesn't matter. It is what it is and I'm not of the mindset to belittle, denigrate, or self flagellate myself with an emotional horsehair whip over my appearance. What I came away with is from seeing those photos that show me as I really am was a sense of validation of the need for my Beginning Anew on Thursday. I'm happy that somehow I was able to view those photos without falling off the fence onto the dark side.
Well, that took all morning to write in fits and spurts...LOL! On with the day. Glad I have a training session scheduled for this evening at 6:00!
I think it is a huge deal to look at photographs as more data without the emotional response. People of all ages/size/beauty have trouble with that. I'm giving you a purple ribbon for that, too.
I hate to bring this up because you probably know and tried.....but control z (command z on Mac) usually brings back that sort of deleted text for me, even on OH.

Good Morning All (Hump Day here-Yay!)
Just read everyone posts...
VSGANN - Hope you are relaxing after a busy day :)
LeapSecond - Be kind to yourself and continue to heal well. Your granddaughter and daughter sound like they are doing well.
Liz - Sorry to hear you had a difficult day out sailing. Big Hug x
BrownBlonde - Re Yorkie - as Peps said he/she will likely settle really well into a pen. I rescued a Kelpie (manic) at 6 months and had to crate train her along with undoing a lot of bad behaviours. We got there in the end and shes a lovely dog now. Onwards and upwards :)
Ocean - Sorry to hear about the accident. And hope Sadie is doing a little better this evening
Diane - Good news re Hubby - sending healing vibes. Hope your own apt went well
Peps - Congratulations on the wins - thats wonderful. Hope the swelling is subsiding. Love the JFDI - I laughed when I read that
Busy day yesterday. Had Mum to a blood test mid morning and then her surgeon apt at 1pm. Hes happy with how it went and we have scheduled the second eye to be done on 22/10 so I can care for her again before I go to our farm for a month. Made her Pork Roast with Veg, Gravy and Apple Sauce. Its her favourite. Pork was huge - over 10lbs so then made a pork, egg noodle and Veg bake - sent one over to our neighbours as they are currently renovating and dont have a kitchen. Easy dinner over there tonight. I have one huge one for us and made 3 single serve ones to send home with mum. I will use the remaining pork and make into San Choi Bow - Good time to use up balance of veggie and have lovely fresh lettuces from my SIL garden - cant wait
My boss is back from his Europe trip so I can stop working the hours I have been - yay. Will be starting filling the window frame in our room in preparation for painting. I have ordered new blinds and flyscreens so best get my butt moving
Well I hope you are all having a wonderful evening
Shirley :)
10 lb pork roast! It has been a while since I have seen such a beast.
I will have to look up San Choi Bow.

Funny how days when the scale is cooperating I feel like eating a lot. Like I just "made room" and want to fill it again. Then again, I want to eat a lot when the scale is not cooperating and that feeling is along the lines of "f--k it, it's already bad". So to sum up, I want to eat a lot all the time for varying reasons!
That said, I haven't been a glutton today, which also makes me want to eat because I've been good and I "deserve" it. Ah, my brain is full of rationales...
Last night my friend and I saw A Star is Born. It was excellent! And holy hell, can I just say, Bradley Cooper. I have a new profound crush. We were both surprised how many male patrons there were in the theater and as we left my friend joked that no doubt all of them left feeling very inferior masculinity-wise. [fans self] Lady Gaga should get an Oscar nod.
Today I went to see the hematologist. Interesting guy. Totally not helpful about the periods, but loads of great info on my clots and anti-coagulants. He's going to switch mine (from Eliquis to Xarelto) as he doesn't like the one I'm on and suggested a trip to an ob-gyn asap. He thinks my clot was a provoked clot (a good thing except for my family history, which still leaves him concerned). He said that testing reveals the causes of about 55% of clotting abnormalities, but it stll leaves 45% of clots caused by factors they just don't know to test for yet. He'll do more testing for clotting factors at a year, when he'll take me off them. If I were to have another clot after that or if the testing finds anything off, then it's meds for life. Fun fact, hospital deaths from PEs are second only to heart attacks/strokes. 300,000 people a year die from them (600k for heart attack/stroke). Other fun fact, anytime you have clots, it damages your arterial or venous valves, leaving you prone to more clots. He thought the fact that my ankles are veiny was suspect and that I may have had previous clots I may not have known about. I just thought it was because I have no ankle meat and they stand out in relief. Hmmm. He thought it was reasonable to transition from my anti-coagulant to Lovenox for my arm/bewb surgery then going back to the anti-coagulant whenever I'm ready to do that. Anywho...
So that's all. Now I will go fight my cravings for a Chinese food binge for the third night in a row.
