Hi all! I'm on my way home from the Nationals. Went very well. Lucky won his class every single day - the only dog the entire weekend to do that! On top of that, he went reserve Winners Dog on Saturday at the Devon Dog Show Association dog show and then yesterday at the Airedale Terrier Club of America at the Montgomery County Kennel Club (more important in the terrier world than Westminster Dog Show) Lucky went Winners Dog, Best of Winners and Best Bred By Exhibitor Airedale. This show is the largest terrier show in the nation and is visited by thousands of dog fanciers each year. Lucky competed against an Airedale flown here from Japan for the long weekend of shows. That ought to give you some idea of how important the show is. After Lucky won his class yesterday an older gentleman approached me and asked me to sell Lucky to him to take to Germany. The man is well known in Europe and has a **** load of money! Naturally, I told him to take a hike.
My eating has been spotty over the long weekend. Some good choice moments, some not so healthy choice moments. 16-18 hour days with a lot of physical activity does not always make for the best choices - even when I have the ability to make my own choices on where and what to eat. I found a nice BBQ place where I was able to order meat, which I was craving, and some sides. Foodwise that was probably my most enjoyable meal. The others were more about the company than the food.
Unlike Liz, I don't think I will be able to put off weighing for a week. For me it will be best to jump on the scale tomorrow morning and have a reality check. I think it will take me a few days to recuperate and get my energy levels back to normal. My plan is still to be on the stick on Thursday. First order will be sugar elimination. Then calorie reduction and I HAVE to improve my H2O intake. I saw video of me and Lucky. Those videos were great motivators to get on the WL stick! LOL! My bowl full of jelly is providing great inspiration! LOL!
Looks like ShirlAUS is a new face around here since my absence started last week. I'm guess ShirlAUS is Shirley from Australia (you said "mum" in today's post). Welcome!
Yay for Lucky and Peps. And yeah, this show is the Super Bowl of Terrier events. I am assuming winners dog was 5 points (the most possible) so kudos. Maybe the guy from Germany will want a Lucky pup sometime. Should have asked for a deposit!
Anyway Peps, ride the high from this for a looooooong time. You earned it. And you looked good in the pictures too!ds
Greetings Grand People
No weight again. Was up at the crack of dawn because DH was hurting. We called the surgeon who will see us tomorrow. DH thinks the surgery failed and the hernia is back. I have no way to judge - hoping it is normal swelling. I feel bad for him but there is not much I can do. He can't seem to suffer without an audience and started in on his political rants which drives me nuts. Preaching to the choir. But I guess that's all I can do for him at the moment - listen to rants. Fortunately we agree.
And I had a dexa scan today for bone (not fat) and see my primary care tomorrow. I bet he slaps an osteoporosis drug on me. A quick stop at the studio and then back here to be nurse. I need a nap. Tesla is really wired as she hasn't had a walk in a few days.
Yikes DianeO, those labs will eat ANYTHING! Glad you knew what to do. I once had a young dog who ate a coffee bad (like a tea bag). I saw him do it or I never would have known. Got the peroxide and he promptly barfed it up. No ill effects. Why he ate that I will never know.
Pork roast sounds great Shirley. Hope your mom does well.
Yesterday I went to the grocery and was kind of hungry and I was strongly tempted to buy every bad food in the place. I have not felt like that in a long time. Note to self: don't do that anymore.
OH newsletter had a good article on regain. I need to study it.
Liz have fun sailing. But yeah, take extra clothes.
Oh BB, what a tough baby experience. I don't know how mothers do it. And imagine if you had a couple more with you. Hope Becca is ok and not sick.
As for fleas, we have our dogs on flea prevention meds. Trifexis for Chip and nexguard for Tesla. Works well. But you have to get it from a vet and I think they insist on doing an exam first.
Peace all. Diane S
My goodness, some of us have been through the ringer this Monday! Makes my complaining about my lunch snafu pretty wimpy. Remember how delighted I was about my Greek salads I made for easy grab and go this week. I sat down to lunch, filled with anticipation, oh feta, olives, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, get in my belly! Popped off the top and discovered I had grabbed the container with leftover taco meat. I sent a pic to my family, ds replied it was an odd looking salad, dh thought it looked like cat food. Anyhow, dh won't be home for dinner, so guess what I'm having for dinner. (Hint, not taco meat) Opa!!!!
