Good morning, Mates!

David, so glad you are healing but also heeding DW's and doc's advise about not pushing too quickly.

Peps, hope you and Lucky are rocking the show and figured out how to come home!

Diamond....Greek Salad sounds good! I have some extra tomatoes since I cleared out the garden.

(Did everyone hear that? I winterized my patch of garden! Before Oct! Sometimes it waits til spring!)

Cecily, I settled for a higher weight after LBL because I looked better with less effort. Why not? You will find balance. Or, in my case, balance is a slow see-saw.

Ann- fabulous dinner. So upscale! DD has been more into healthy eating and we had a stir fry chicken/broccoli thing that she seemed to enjoy. I mixed in about 1/8th cup of rice for texture into mine. A mound of rice no longer appeals. I am ever hopeful that some day I will feel that way about tortilla chips.

Have fun all! Shel

Mmmm ... stir fry with lots of veggies does sound good!

Thanks, all, for your admiration of my extreme outlier of a fancy dinner. That happens about once every quarter. ;)

It messes with my head for sure. I think about what I "should" weigh given what I was pre-plastics (168) minus what he removed (put me at 157) and then what I see in the mirror now and kind of like, but wonder if I should like (171). So confusing.

Yep! I completely get it! Plus for me there is the fear that accepting even a few more pounds is the start of that old slippery slope...

It took me a while to accept the higher weight, too, as something other than settling or failing, or (like Liz said) a slippery slope.

But, I think I was trying harder before the surgery because that excess stuff made me feel chubbier than I really was. Once it was removed, I had a better view (tho it took a while to process that new view)

At my final appt, the PS shook her finger at me at noted that my extra thigh bulk was excess skin. Trying to keep weight low wouldn't help it. She had "seen inside" and I didn't have excess to lose. (Of course, my knee jerk 1st thought was "pffft")

If interested, another objective data point would be a dexa body composition test. (I don't want to give you something else to obsess on, tho....)

Weight 171

Good Thursday, All! I started my day with a trip to Starbucks for fall flavored things... a latte with sugar free cinnamon dolce syrup and a slice of pumpkin bread. Definitely a splurge, but so yummy.

Pilates was great and indeed I did flail like an upended turtle a few times, even letting out an inelegant snort at the call for one movement there's no chance of me doing right now (on back, legs straight up and together, arms out on the ground, take legs over to one side, dip and sweep back to center. Lather, rinse, repeat each side several times). It all made me realize how tight all my muscles and scar tissue are! The gal next to me kept audibly tooting (hazard of Pilates) and of course I fretted that everyone would think it was me. It was all I could do not to point a finger to my right or giggle... So childish of me.

Walk soon with neighbor, movies with a friend tonight and grocery/Costco sometime today.

Ann, your meal sounds lovely! Diane, loving your new checklists!

I also had a sugar free cinnamon dolce latte today. While delicious, I am still mad at Starbucks for not having sugar free pumpkin spice.

Greetings Dear Ones

Its a sunny fall day which I won't allow to be spoiled by weighing 151.5. I didn't eat badly yesterday - just lots of salt. Got a short dog walk in and looks like there will be a longer one today. Maybe a thrift store trip. A good friend has given me dozens of tiny little animal figures from Mexico. She lives in Mexico now. Would I be terrible to give them away? I am thinking of choosing 2 or 3 favorites and ditching the rest. Being artsy makes you accumulate way too many gee-gaws.

DH has lunch with the Romeos today so I will be "grounded" without the electric car. I could drive the old suv but I hate it. Its so old it has a cassette player!

I haven't checked facebook yet so don't know if Peps has a way home. Be safe.

Liz, guess you have to do what's best for Chiquita and sounds like she is not having much fun. Never easy.

Great dinner Ann. Maybe I will be a copy cat cook. DH has his hernia surgery tomorrow but we still don't know what time. They call us today with that. Since his is a shorter duration one I suspect it will be later.

I mentioned the other day that my SIL broke her hip. Surgical repair went well and its not a bad break so she won't be in a rehab place. But the bad news is she has uterine cancer. Discovered a few days before the fall. So after the hip heals enough she has to go have hysterectomy. I don't have a good feeling about this but hope its my usual castastophising attitude. She just has so darn much wrong with her that it does not bode well.

Yep, still liking Ocean Diane's maintenance measures. I have started doing leg squats whenever I have been sitting to long or waiting for the stove to heat up and such. I can do about a dozen while coffee pours through the filter.

Well time to plan the day but first more coffee. Diane S

You have my complete permission to declutter your house and workplace of gew-gaws. Go for it! ;)

Also go for the squats while the stove is heating up, etc. Several years ago I discovered just how many steps I could get in a day while my microwave was heating up a power bowl, warming up coffee and tea, and other things. Seriously, it was almost a thousand steps a day, all told. (I use my microwave a LOT!)
