And a thunderous Thursday morning to you, my friends. I hope you're all having success with and feeling good about your house cleaning, post-op healing, vehicle repairs, gardening, exercising, cooking and eating, family relationships, happy memories, and creative projects.

My weight continues to settle into my happiest place, as it always does when I get to enjoy my structured, comfy life here at home.

Last night, I made the best dinner and actually ate it while sitting at the table. It was a grilled three-ounce beef filet wrapped in bacon; multi-colored little steamed potatoes and nuked with a little olive oil and grated parmesan; and a sweet salad of spring lettuces, avocado, and cherry tomatoes w/Skinny Girl balsamic vinaigrette. I also had a gorgeous red wine (Abstract from California's Central Coast) that begged to be paired with the filet.

I continue to find and read a lot of my writing (short stories, poems, unfinished novels) from the 1980s and 1990s. It's not half bad. I'm regaining my old enthusiasm for the writing life and some new writing projects.

Today will be full of yoga, errands, visiting sick friends in hospital, and workers buzzing around the house.

Today's theme: Rejoice or not. Our choice.

I choose to rejoice, show up and discard POS ! You are all so inspiring ! Yes, Shel? there is such value in this group ! Good for you for remaining stable amidst instability ! Major win ! Dave, glad to hear you are on the mend. Liz, positive thoughts as you remember the positive ! Elise certainly had a genuine smile that radiated through her eyes !

I have modified my daily check-in with self yet again. Thanks for sharing your own truths. Comfy in clothes ? Really?! Even in a closet of correct sized clothes, who can?t do that ? Easy ostrich?gone. Replaced with General Wellbeing? a vague catch all for energy level, joint comfort etc. I added Fitness, because beyond 10,000 steps I need to be attuned to core/strength/stamina/flexibility. So grateful to be a work in progress !! (Me and my list !)

Weight 120.8, calories 1098. Eating out will occur at least two times this weekend, so I am trying to stick to my planned food prior to that. BIL suggested pizza tonight and I said it was fine if he wanted to bring DH, but I'm passing.

Yesterday was a none day. I didn't make myself do anything because there wasn't enough mental energy.

Tuesday I saw my PS and in December he is going to revise the facelift scars behind my ears which are raised and bug me. I also determined the best size box to use for Florida shipping and will be starting to pack them (we leave in 30 days with a 10 day trip in the middle).

DH has been a bit nasty off and on lately and persevering on old financial stuff so I really think he needs his meds adjusted. The geriatric psychiatrist is dragging her feet about giving us an appointment so I need to see if the Alzheimer's support organization can help us get an appointment before we go south.

I also need to make Chiquita's appointment to be euthanized. She was Elise's dog, so this is really hard, but she is falling down more often and taking more time to recover afterwards so with all the other non-quality stuff in her world it does seem to indicate that it is time, but I still hate doing it.

DH is going with a friend to a maritime museum in New Bedford today so if the sun comes out I may take Justice for a walk/sit on the beach (dogs are allowed after October 1).

As Ann suggested, have a thunderous Thursday!

I'm sorry about Chiquita, Liz. No matter how old or infirm, it's still painful to let go...

Thanks Cecily. We are going to wait a few weeks as DD wants to try to come and we can wait for a bit (but probably before we leave for Florida in the beginning of November). She is falling regularly now and is very disoriented for quite a while after. I don't know if the disorientation causes the falls or vice versa, but regardless this is added to her other infirmities which have already greatly reduced her life quality.

Me too on sending dinner my way: That sounded divine! I wish I enjoyed cooking as much as eating...

Good job with re-settling in your happy weight place- I believe your consistent ability to moderate has everything to do with a wholistic approach to self-care. Paying attention to the complete life-picture yields a true balance- well done, YOU!

As to salty, crunchy, crisp, fresh, gorgeously golden colored and warm, tasty tortilla chips-----THEY ARE the DEVIL! Good advise given yesterday to get such creatures out of the house. I also liked Shel's comment about the good in having a properly stocked fridge and pantry so as to mitigate those panic-grab whatever before I starve moments. I remember a wonderful health care practitioner telling me once when I expressed concern over whether I would be getting enough vitamins, etc if I were to decrease my food consumption that,

"Sweetie, your problem is not that you are or will be undernourished, but that you are over nourished". (2011)- a statement that helped me adjust my thinking and start this whole process.

A thankyou this morning to Dr. Micky Xun. For once, I listened.

Ann- love your TFTD. Another way I've heard it put-

"Folks are usually about as happy as they make up their minds to be". - Abraham Lincoln.

In the first few months post VSG, a kind, bariatric nurse patted my hand, as she said "You don't need to worry about too few calories. You have plenty stored."

Still makes me giggle.

Thank you all for your kind words the last few days. As I said above, yesterday was a none day so I am just now returning to a thinking world where I acknowledge what people say again.
