"In to the trash you go, you POS- I don't need you any longer"!

What a useful statement!

Good morning, all! That's right. It is me. Again.

Ann, tis amazing how much time health maintenance plus active evaluation/treatment takes! I am seriously excited about your cataract surgery. I have been coveting new lenses for years (tho DianeS's DH's experience gives me pause)

Cecily, welcome back to the West Coast. I am sorry, tho, for the loss of that beautiful girl. I, too, worry about the littermate....I have seen the heart break of the dog who was left behind (and they were just long time friends, not litter mates)

About me, in the last 48 hours, I feel a return of some ease in myself that I haven't felt for a very long time. Tasks don't see so insurmountable. My usual good humor surfaces before irritation. (Tho, lets be clear, I have a in-born natural *****liness, too.)

I am pretty sure I was a high risk of weight gain during this time. But, I am stable. How about that?

Gratitude abounds. Thanks so much to everyone that has ever posted on this board. As someone that always preferred to go it alone, it is a game changer to see such VALUE in a group.

The sun is out. Must get out there and tromp up a hill.

Shel

Liz, my thoughts are with you on your daughter?s birthday. Remember the good times.

I am feeling better everyday but this is still a slow healing process. Tender from incision. I have less pain than a week and a half ago before surgery. After full recovery, I remain hopeful that I will have even less pain than now. I am off the extra meds that the surgeon gave me. DW has been keeping me in line. Reminding me not to bend. I wear a brace for at least a month. 8 lbs max lifting until cleared in a month I think. I can not drive until the 2 week mark. (Probably a good thing). Doctors and nurses make the worst patients. Planning on going back to the trailer in the woods Friday. It has been easier to recuperate here in the house.

Cecily losing fur babies is so hard. We get so attached and a litter mate will take it very hard.

More later, David

So glad you are feeling better Dave. We are all hoping for full recovery and relief from pain. Do what DW says. She knows best. Take care. DS

Greetings Good People

150.5 today. Yesterday's scrabble wasn't really a party - just a few of us hard core players - so it wasn't a buffet of hippie food. Just a few home grown cherry tomatoes and my almonds. So that's all good. But boy I got beat up by everyone! Fortunately its a non competitive group where everyone just tries to do their best and we use the dictionary liberally. Fun.

Ann, I am right behind you on the medical. Dexa scan next week, follow up with internist and mammogram in a couple of weeks. Flu shot, shingles and preumonia. I am not ready for cataract surgery yet (they are in there but dormant). Gl with that. Take all the valium they offer you so you don't feel nervous. DH had no problems with the surgery itself - just that his eyes continue to change which doesn't happen to most people. He has a new prescription on the way. Yeah, maintaining health, like weight, is not easy - especially after retirement.

DH had a hiatal hernia repair about 6 months after his vsg. Dr said once fat is lost stuff can move around more. We had our same surgeon do the repair and it worked out well.

Yep Shel, climb a mountain. Gotta train for Ranier!

Liz such a beautiful daughter! She does indeed glow. Condolences.

Peps have a good flight. And win big at the show.

Diane O, Hope you get SS back soon.

Cecily, yeah get rid of the self nursing stuff. So glad you are beyond that.

Hoping to get rid of some trash around here. My favorite kind of day google tells me "you have no events scheduled for today". Diane S

Weight 170.2

I had my 20 month bariatric check up this morning. While I was 6 pounds up from my last appointment in April (and don't forget I had 11 pounds of skin and fat removed after that appt, so eek), he's very pleased with my progress (88% of my excess weight gone and frankly I'd look terrible at 100%). I will say that the weight I gained went to decent places (legs, hips and rear) for the first time in my life so I look pretty proportionate (not like the apple shape I usually am), but I think about 5-8 pounds less than I am now would be perfect. I actually wore my blouse tucked in (to my size 6 jeans) today for the first time in probably 30 years. Just the front as the "cool kids" seem to do these days. Doing so was outside of the realm of possibilities for so long, I hadn't realized I could have been doing it for the last several months if I wanted to. Ingrained negative fat-hiding thoughts run deep.

This evening I'm heading back to Pilates. Given how weak my tightened stomach muscles feel I'll likely flounder around on my back like a flipped turtle, but it's time to start getting those back in shape. As it is, if I slide too far down in a chair, I can't lift myself up without flailing with my feet or grabbing under my leg to haul myself up. Total flipped turtle.

I bought a ticket to the OH conference this weekend as it's not far from my house. If you bought one at the previous conference for the following year, it was like half price - $40 I think? I thought last year's had some interesting speakers, so hopefully this will to.

Anyway, wishing all a happy Wednesday. Thank you all for your kind words about Gracie!

I bet you looked terrific. I'm jealous that you can go to the conference again. Enjoy and report back!
