Greetings Sunday Celebrators

Its a perfect fall day here - sun out and not windy. I see humming birds. Definitely a day to walk the old dog.

Ha Diane O, I love that DC could not tell the difference on the chicken and tofu brats. Its really about basically bland ground up meat and fillers that are well seasoned. Seasoning rocks. Reminded myself of that when I made some lemon pepper shrimp last night. Excellent with Persian cucumbers. Anyway, Diane O I hope Serenity is fixed and running soon. Maybe you could head south where campgrounds are open later.

And mustard and balsamic! Great stuff. I got some in Italy a few years ago that was to die for. I think they had a mustard festival in the Sonoma area awhile back. Must get more of these to use on the veggies that I otherwise end up throwing out.

Peps, 11 hours driving in one day! Been there done that. Usually involving dogs or visit to the hand doctor. It gets old. But glad your little dog family has worked out its hierarchy. Good luck at the shows. Yeah road food pretty much sucks. Eat and drive usually means cheese sticks or protein bars.

What a great tree Shel! You are indeed a tree groupie. In the midwest I remember a tv station having a contest to call in and tell the location of the most beautiful fall tree. Many serious contenders.

Elm trees - I so remember the enormous stumps in my college town of trees that had to be removed. But there were still plenty of oaks and others. Campus had the world's fattest squirrels.

Hey Bonnie 150, I wish you could beam those walnuts to all who need them. Seems sad for them to go unused. Is there a food bank that would take them? Cracking walnuts was so much a midwestern winter thing. My grandpa used to pick the black walnuts for cake but he couldn't see well and we had to inspect for shells.

Shel, low rmr??!! Seems weird for as active as you are. I really do think us fatties and former fatties all have low rmr. Any studies on that I wonder? Well that's the cards we are dealt and life could be far worse.

Speaking of bad and worse, I jus****ched an SNL episode. The show was hilarious but I just can't fathom what people see in Kanye West. If someone knows what is good about his performances then clue me in. I don't get it.

Not much planned today. Chip walk, maybe clean up some leaves, send some papers to the accountant that it only took me about an hour to find yesterday, glue some art stuff, check the studio and contemplate debris removal. Old lady life. Diane S

I was bugged a bit by the number what it really isn't a surprise. It was a truly resting reading (I had been laying in a dark room for an hour before they did the reading while I was still lay there).

I am sure that I have some advantage in life those 1400 RMR gals don't have. I just can't imagine it being better than a big cookie that they get to have every single day.

The obese do have lower RMR's but I haven't seen where they have studied the chicken/egg of that. Also, haven't see a study what happens when people lose weight thru WLS. (Tho, I am beginning to suspect it stays low!) Honestly, we are such zebras....who knows if they will ever study us.

But, I suppose lack of study makes sense since many metabolic studies were done for military and sports applications who (of course) typically use young, athletic men as study participants.

Typing zebras made me think of goats which were in the news because they (along with dogs, horses and something else) can read human faces/emotions. And, they prefer smiling faces. So now I take my goat's stink eye more personally -- although now that I think about it, I wasn't doing too much smiling when we were relatively close together.

PS, I don't get Kayne, either.

PPS, I don't get the Kardashians, either.

Post #2:

So, I did what any self respecting thin person would do when I went on venture #2 to get jeans and sports coats. I tried on 5 bajillion different styles of jeans to see which would be most flattering and would make me feel best while wearing them. I swear it took me close to 90 minutes to get in and out with two pair of jeans and a pair of "ultimate slim" khakis. LOL! Turns out I like slim fit best. I thought athletic fit would be the one, but no way. Athletic fit meant way too much extra room in the seat and thighs and the waist was too high. Interestingly, Relaxed Slim were too tight in the calves, but regular slim was just fine. Might have been the fabric difference, too. Slim is 99% cotton. Relaxed slim has more spandex in it - either 2% or 4% - can't remember exactly.

Then, I thought I should also have sport coats that made me feel good rather than like a blimp stuffed. Went in to a Men's Wearhouse and went straight to the sport coats. New what I wanted, but actually tried on a size smaller but in an executive cut (fuller in the gut). Presto! Magnificent fit. It was also one of those BOGO weekends, so I got 2 for the price of one AND I had $100 in rewards to use, so each coat was just over $150 for a 100% wool and a 50/50 wool and silk blend, which is rather luxurious.

Anyway, I'm proud of myself for being kind to my "fat self" and treating myself to nice things so I will feel good about being seen.

And there you have it!

I'm proud of you too, Peps.

Finding good clothes of the right cut, fabric, color and that elusive je ne sais quoi is bloody hard work!
