09/26/18 Wonderful Wednesday
So thankful you are okay ! You were missed !

I'm glad you are "only in a funk" and that your dad is okay. That was my main worry that he might have taken a sudden turn for the worse after the bladder ablation/treatment.
I understand about the eating and the extra pounds. I really do. When you think about it, it is a normalcy in your life to eat during stressful and upsetting times. It's how you've coped for years and years. And even though we all "know" that it's not what we should do, our neural pathways are programmed to do so. It's what we know. It takes significant effort to reprogram those neural pathways to reset our natural reactions for coping to something other than eating. You can do that.
Sorry you are bummed out about life in general because of the blood issues. Give yourself some time to adjust. You had a significant and scary medical emergency and are still dealing with the aftermath. Makes sense to me that life is still somewhat jumbled.
Be well. Know you are loved and supported here.
Glad that you (and your dad) are ok, tho funky. (And suddenly, funky sounds sort of fun....)
About your age and hematologists....I don't think you are as quite as special as that receptionist made you feel. (Well, you ARE special, but she didn't know about your ability to hike 8 miles at 4mph pace.)
Many DVT/PE folks are quite young. (I think the youngest I have seen was a 19 year old who had DVT after ankle surgery) 100% of the young women expressed similar thought/experiences shared by you.... right down to birth/homone control being yanked away just as anticoagulants increased menstrual flow to Florence levels.
And pretty much all out-of-the-blue DVT/PE patients are gobsmacked by what has happened to them. It really is a shock from diagnosis to treatment (blood thinning! Sounds a bit like leaches)
That older (ahem...seasoned) hematologist will know exactly how to assess your event --- because you (and people like you) make up a large percentage of his/her consult cases. That receptionist is more likely used to the chronic patients that return over and over again - they tend to be older. People like you usually have 1-3 appts, then done.
Anyhoo, I hope this helps in some small way. You will get by this. I promise.

No apologies needed! We were just worried about you. The blood issue would definitely be depressing for anyone and I can be an ostrich myself pretty easily.

Having a great time ! You can't really tell how steep uphill and downhill climbs from rim to floor are on Facebook photos. I'd go uphill for hours v. downhill, which is so tough on my knees. In my MO days, a vacation like this would be built around restaurants an as little physical activity as possible. I now focus on activity and healthy protein sources like markets ! Who knew ? The thought of a covered wagon ride (3.5 hour long) contained on a floor trail without being out in the air and walking made it a no go for me. We are going horseback riding tomorrow, something I could never do previously, due to weight restrictions. So, so grateful !!

Am popping back to say to David that I really hope this surgery gives you relief from pain and an end to reliance on drugs to dull the pain.
You so deserve to be able to draw the curtain on all that.
