Hi everyone, thanks for the warm welcome. After so much lurking, I feel I know everyone here, but now I'm feeling a little bit shy. it probably won't last long, since I do love a good conversation. Thanks for the warm welcome.

Shel, I'm going to a wedding near Monticello this weekend. I grew up in small town not far from there and remember some Friday Night Lights when we played them in football.

About year 3, I found my weight starting to creep up. The first 10 pounds were a surprise, but generally didn't upset me too much, but the next 15 were kind of scary. I've been holding my current weight for pretty much a year and a half, but then saw an upward trend from all this traveling. I found my religion again, and decided to see if I could give up added sugar for just two weeks. I was feeling completely at the mercy of food obsessions, out of control, and panicked. For whatever unknown, mystical reason, what had seemed impossible became possible again. I don't know what clicked, but I just finished week 3. I've lost about 5 pounds (a lot of i****er weight) but what I've gained is a sense of control. Right now, that feels better than even seeing a lower number on the scale.

That sense of control is truly more important than the scale number at this point because you know you can continue doing what you need to to lose.
