I think it is Monday anyway... That long overnight travel, daytime touring and 5 hour time change is really disconcerting even if you don't have dementia. DH is okay this morning - it has been mixed so far but as I said it is tough to adjust for all.

Scotland is beautiful. We ate breakfast in an old old hotel yesterday, toured a castle and toured the Britannia. Possible pictures later, but I'm at breakfast now.

Soeaking if which, tea can be had in the room but coffee is harder to find. But it is good coffee once you get it though strong. Finding time to drink first then eat is a challenge but I think I can make it work. Yesterday I ate lots of good protein and other not so good stuff for us VSGers largely as fuel to keep awake. Hopefully today will be easier.

Time to drink more coffee then eat but I'll try to post pics later.

Have a marvelous Monday.

Hello all!

Liz, thanks so much for taking the time to post with so much going on! Paula, I think of you when I hear ads for a Fabletics that opened in a local mall. Cecily, I think I saw you are starting to prepare for Utah hikes? Good times!!! DianeO, beam me aboard! DianeS, I just might do some gardening today, too. Peps, bittersweet to think those pups are closing in on leaving Kairk. (At least most of them.) M150, fingers crossed for Lyle.

News from here is that FIL passed away. I spent time with him on Sat. He passed early Sunday morning. Too early for anyone to have considered visiting him (tho I had already left for a hike) so no family was present. So we transition.

Hike seemed overly hard for an elevation gain that wasn't even 3000. Lots of rocks and roots to step way up, and around. The destination is popular with backpackers so they were on the trails with their big packs and big dogs. Peps, there was one super cute cairn (Kaya) who was being trained in how to be a trail dog. Very amusing. She charged a large horse of a dog (Bruce) who just looked at her like WTF? He refused to be engaged. I wish I could take pictures of these characters.

Another character I wish I could openly photograph are the trail babies....tiny human babies. One guy had a tiny someone on his back. All I could see was chubby arms and hands reaching for his man-bun, and then yanking on it when he/she finally was able to grasp. Dad would reach back and gently free the bun from the attacker. The attacker never gave up.

The first pic below is a different guy with babe.

I saw that baby earlier when they had stopped to give her a bottle under the shade of a tree (perfect pic opportunity!)....I am sure she was

Your pictures transport me- thank you.

I am so very sorry for your loss while at the same time smiling in my heart at the thought of that fork in his hand. May he realize a most loving paradise. Amen.

So sorry to hear about FIL. Though he may have been ready it is always difficult for those left behind.

Shel... sorry about your FIL. The landscape is ruggedly beautiful. I need to channel some of my rugged. We can't check in to our site until 3 PM, and we are sitting here totally packed and ready to leave ...in two hours. It's too hot to do much outside. DC has been having trouble sleeping and is in to a cycle of falling asleep at 7 PM and getting up at 2:30- 3 AM. Setting up camp will be during his cranky time of day. This time, we'll have the two dogs the entire time, rather than having them come and go because we were only ten minutes from home. This trip is to the other end of the lake and part way down the other side, about 45 minutes away.

Please send positive thoughts out to the dog universe for Wilson, a friend's two year old golden retriever. They had him at camp last night, and fireworks were unexpectedly set off several camps away. Wilson bolted, and has been missing ever since.

Stay cool, think rugged.

Sending out homing vibes in Wilson's direction. I snuck a peek at some pictures of the Lake Park you mentioned--what a lovely place, and so many pretty places in it to explore.

Yesterday on the Britannia - we could do a lot of eating here!

Near Edinburgh Castle - looks like Harry Potter land,

Liz, when out for breakfast, or really any other meal before which I need to hydrate, I politely tell the wait person that I like to enjoy my coffee/drink before breakfast/meal. I smile and say that I'll be ready to order when he/she comes back to refill my coffee. Then I say thanks for understanding my quirkiness. It works for me.

Pups are reaching the fun and wild stage. I will be happy when we are down a few in two weeks! A few of them will stay a little longer, but that's just fine by me. Looks like there's a keeper for me in this bunch. Damn, damn, damn! Now, to think of a name.

I've started Bright Line Eating. It is uplifting. That's all I can say for having read only the forward, and first two chapters.

Was sent a couple pictures from the puppy party. In the background was a fellow with a nice back -strong, V shaped - that caught me eye. LOL! It was ME! That was a boost for my personal morale.

Here is a clip of the photo with me in the background facing away from the camera.

This is the little devil who will be staying here, unless something changes. She needs a registered name that starts with J and also a call name (regular name). Ideas are welcome!
