Weight 121.8, calories 1146. Again, not the weight I like leaving for our trip with. Wouldn't it be nice if I came back lighter?

We are essentially packed or at least ready for packing in the carryons. Now is the stage when I'm second guessing whether I have what we need. Should I go get some of those super lightweight sneakers this morning? Should I move a few things to the carryon since we won't be at our hotel until late Sunday? What will we be able to find for dinner at the airport tonight?

I hope DH does well with this. I guess we will see. I don't know when I will be posting - probably at times when we are at the hotel and DH is asleep.

Have a super Saturday!

Happy Saturday morning ! DC and Alexa are bonding (chattering away like fast friends) in the living room. Man, the amount of obscure information he is acquiring would make him a Trivial Pursuit powerhouse ! He did schedule reminders to take his medications 3X per day, so that is one bit of nagging I won't have !!

As predicted, weight is back down to the lower end of my sweet spot. I have come a long way in moderating my reactivity to weight fluctuations. Previously, I would have seen a 4-5 pound jump after a glass of beer and pizza and said, "If I can't even live like a regular person every now and then, why even bother to try ?" I would have just given up and begun another regain. Now, I look at the actual calories in, do the math (3,500 = 1 pound) take a breath ,drink some water, and resume healthy eating. A five pound range coupled with focusing on trends lasting 4+ days helps me negotiate through 1-3 day fluctuations due to hydration, bathroom time, excessive flour/sugar etc.

Do the math, breathe, and drink water !

Lucky you! Now if I could only get more relaxed about fluctuating and/or decide if I'm ok with the extra few pounds I've acquired I'd be happy. My clothes still fit completely fine - the only place I feel a bit different is in my breasts which is not a bad thing. So maybe I'll reassess when back from Europe.

You may well want to reassess- those 2 lbs sound like they came with well placed side effects. Alas and alac, my once, more than adequate melons morphed into muffins (which was ok) , but now are mere cookies. Unfortunately, if I gained a few pounds they would not gravitate to places where I would want them to go.

I want to be in the same mind set as you are practicing- my " moderating - over- reactivity" is not so much with the scales as it is in tasting/having some sugar-simple carbs and thinking that I can't (trust myself to) have any like a regular person because (eating) it will send me down the slippery slope so - I like it-

Take a deep breath, drink some water, trust my self, and resume healthy eating.

Last minute sneaker purchase (remember I said I was second guessing myself?)- I hate the constraint of regular sneakers. I've been wearing these for a few hours and love them so far. Leaving in 25 minutes...

May those sneakers (and the feet in them) carry you (and DH) to wonderful places, unique experiences, tasty foods, and then bring you home again safely and filled with lasting memories.

Greetings Saturday Travelers

149 today. I cooked some fresh ahi last night and it was good but I couldn't even eat half of a fillet so the rest tonight. Dogs aren't getting any!

Cute shoes Liz. What are they? I hate heavy shoes which is why I wear reboks.

Gallery duty was not too bad - quite a few visitors. I was there several hours before I realized I hadn't brought my iPad. A guy came in who lives down the road where I walk the dog. Reminded me I should get Chip out today.

Not much going on here today. College football starts for us tonight. I think I will buzz by the studio and see whats up. Otherwise its a sleepy overcast day. I need to cut gallery checks since its the first of the month which is a challenge still on our new system.

Our area has a significant number of homeless people - I think due to mild climate, the existence of wooded and wild areas, relative tolerance, lack of affordable housing and lack of law enforcement. Car break ins and theft of all manner of things from yards are becoming more common. Last night the local post office was broken into. The lobby used to be open 24/7 so people could get into their boxes but thats going to change as it has in other towns. I have been thinking about what I could to to help with this problem. Maybe I will research the local organizations. It makes me sad.

Have a great weekend all. Diane S

Homelessness is such a hard challenge to overcome-

There are so many issues interweaving and , unfortunately each twist and knot has to be worked out--A catch 22-Job opportunities are few, because one needs an address to put on the application- not to mention running water and a toothbrush to be presentable enough to make it thru the interviewing process so one can get the job that will provide the money to able to afford the address so one has the water to brush the teeth to.....

Our culture has no problem throwing money at problems as long as we don't have to think too hard about it or get our hands dirty with the work of it. It makes me sad, too, as these complex issues are ripe and plenty- take education- shoot- don't get me started....

The sneakers are sketchers with a really lightweight bottom and stretchy top. I shall report back on how they perform for touring.
