Hey all!

The cruise discussion with my Dad and his wife went just fine. I think my Dad initially was going to press that my aunt just needed to get over it, but his wife was ever the voice of reason and said she completely understood and that most important was my cousin's husband having a great birthday and that absolutely couldn't happen with the aunt there. So all is well. My deposit went through today for the cruise. Crazy to see the price machinations that go on. Even with the single supplement of 70% of the "regular cruise fare" my ticket ended up less than the regular cruise fare when all the discounts were taken into account. I sense these things get marked up a lot so they can mark them down and you feel like you're getting a deal. Anywho...

Another gorgeous day here with thunderstorms on the way. The ones a few days ago were insane. I loved it! Tonight is drinks with neighbors then I'm making shrimp tacos.

I also have to decide if I am up to a hiking trip in November in Utah that I signed up for with my friend. The final payment is due this week. It's a strenuous one with daily hikes up to 11 miles with 3000' elevation gains. I could no way do that today, but I have 2 months to train and having a goal to work toward would probably be a good thing. No more milking the surgery as I'm all recovered. Argh.

Hope you all have great weekends! Liz, I hope your trip is wonderful!

I know what you mean about cruise prices! My SIL once had booked a Bermuda cruise and then won exactly the same cruise from a radio station. BUT when you win them, the government uses the full price for income tax purposes. She was going to pay essentially the same in taxes as for the original trip (so she refused the prize). Maybe they count on that???

Anyway, I'm thinking a well priced cruise from Florida (so no plane travel) might be good for DH and I late next spring if the trips this fall go well (they are much more demanding).

I'm glad the talk with your Dad and wife went well. I thought it probably would.
