Greetings Positive Purple People

148.5 thanks to a mega poop. You all are indeed a group of positive people - even with the occasional non positive foray - and thats what makes this group special. Always seeking the good path even if detoured from time to time.

Yeah life is precious and brief. The older we get the faster time goes by even though we seem to move slower. I don't know how I managed to have a more than full time job, ran a household and had hobbies and friends. Now, a week with three events is a busy one. Grateful to be retired.

So our former Scrabble club director (now disbanded due to her shrilly competitive attitude) has put out feelers for having a small informal Scrabble tournament. I decided that I have no time to spend around annoying people if I have the choice not to. So I am saying no. I don't know if this person has learned anything from her past but not my job to find out. My good buddy is in agreement. Luckily, I get to go to the "underground" Scrabble group that does not include her.

Ann, Chicago is so fun. Art Institute, aquarium, shopping, pizza, Rush Street, clunky " el", whats not to like? We used to go there in my college days - first big city experience away from my parents.

Liz great picture. Glad you had a good evening and got the table you deserve. At the suggestion of the chaplain, my mom and I used to spend time looking at old pictures which she enjoyed. So keep looking for the wedding ones.

Shel, apple juice is indeed nectar of the gods. Glad your FIL gets some and is enjoying it. The image of sleeping while clutching a fork is so touching. Makes a profound statement. Wishing you all comfort and peace.

Hey Peps, go ahead and let out your negative thoughts if you wish. No judgement here.

BB, being a midwesterner myself I am looking forward to college football. First Husker game is this Saturday night. New coach. High hopes. I don't think I have been to Oklahoma City but I used to go to Tulsa pretty often for dog shows and it was a fun town. Lebanese steak houses offering fried bologna as an appetizer! Don't waste the present worrying about the future. I did a lot of this and its pointless.

Well DH has a new prescription for one lens and an appointment for another assessment in a month. Not sure what this means. He has some very early indications of age related macular degeneration but doctor is not concerned. Makes me think to plan for when one of us can't drive. My older brother can no longer drive and his wife is a TERRIBLE driver.

Not much on the agenda except to take things to the gallery, do its banking, and throw stuff out while DH is out of the house at lunch with his friends. I cleaned out a bathroom cupboard yesterday and tossed expired drugstore products and junk and he went through the trash to make sure I had not tossed anything of importance!!!!

Carbon, good to hear from you. Yeah, all airfare is horridly expensive especially in this remote area where there is only one airline. An hour flight to San Fran and back is $500! Enjoy travels.

Time for another coffee and to face this deliciously foggy day! Diane S

Hello all ! Back from our maiden three days. We had a heck of a thunder storm last night, so we're drying things out (awning, patio rug, outdoor chairs) out a bit before restowing everything to go further away to Keuka Lake State Park Monday, for three days, leaving Monday morning. Apparently, one of the visits we made back to the house for laundry or cats, one of our three indoor cats got out for about 24 hours. She seems to be fine but our male Ragdoll is very upset. There was initially lots of growling and snarling on his part.

It has taken me five hours to finish this post. Had company for dinner and lots of grocery shopping and laundry. Weigh in for the first time since Monday, tomorrow.

So, do tell- What was the most superisingly, maybe unexpected, but delightful discovery or happening that you experienced during your first home-on-wheels adventure?

What a wonderful question to ask ! The whole amazing contrast between my twenty years of pop up trailer camping as a child/early adult and this experience in our RV was an astonishing and delightful discovery. I used to sleep in a slide out wing in a sleeping bag, after climbing over my parents. The cookstove area had been gutted to hold the three two drawer cardboard files, each of us having been allocated ONE drawer for ANY clothes we would need.(coats, bathing suits, clothes). Going to the bathroom meant a trip to the public bathroom, where there might be ho****er. Cooking meant the small outside propane stove. The cooler held cooled food for six. No electricity...no water on site, and if so not potable water. Six of us traveled inside the station wagon that towed the trailer, so there wasn't a lot of space for extras. Most of those family experiences have a positive overtone as I think back.

In the RV, I have more space and convenience than my first apartment. Heat, AC, gas stove, oven, microwave, shower, full sized TV, generous ho****er, pre-set coffee maker on the counter! I can get up and use the bathroom without climbing over anything/anyone. I think the greatest pleasure source was how quickly and completely Atlas and Sadie adjusted to their home on wheels !

Bonnie, thank you so much for asking !

I hate to be an OH meme, but I was particularly thrilled with the size of the fridge/freezer in that size RV!

I had exact ****xperience in pop up RV as a kid.

I so love this description! Maybe in my next life I'll get an RV like yours. My family did tent camping (hard ground, damp flannel sleeping bags, public bathrooms/showers with mosquitoes installed)...
