Just lost my whole post!!!!!
Weight 120.6, calories 1060. About 400 of those calories were between 10 pm and 1 am because I couldn't sleep and didn't feel well.
Today is our 37th anniversary, we leave for Europe in 3 days, and I'm getting sick with a cold at minimum. Great timing.
DH doesn't remember that it is our anniversary but we are going to dinner at a highly rated oceanfront restaurant. Assuming I'm feeling better maybe I'll try to get him to reminisce about our wedding day and leading up to it (or at least I'll tell the story). That's what my friend does with her husband who is further along.
Have a winning Wednesday!

Devon-I'm loving the puppy pics on facebook! So cute!!
Paula-so glad to hear everything is going so well. Living life well!
Liz-Happy Anniversary! I hope you can enjoy your day with DH and reminiscing. Can't wait to hear all about trip!
Weight: about 167. That's the official weight I think. Whcih is where I was before weightloss last year.
Local elections have me down. I used to like politics. Now I understand why people bury their heads from it all.
Already feeling kind of sad that DH will be gone for TWO WEEKS this time, starting Monday. the good news is that we're meeting in Las Vegas for two nights for my birthday next weekend. I forget who was saying they did tasks apart from their husband--I'll admit I like to do so much with Rich. Perhaps I'm smothering him. We do things separately occasionally but I do like to do the vast majority with him, especially now that he's away. I so so crave consistency. I'm thankful for the job he has right now, for the income and for the ability to work from home every other week. We were supposed to hear about a good job opportunity the past two weeks and still nothing. Really hoping it's just slow-going trying to post a new position.
Anyway, just gonna do my best today. That's all anyone can do.
It was me (about doing some stuff separately). It kind of morphed that way due to time demands with kids and jobs. That worked best for us but neither of us traveled much for work and we never traveled separately for vacations. Just for some day to day stuff - divide and conquer.

Good morning, friends. Life is rolling right along for us--life transitions, travel, work and back-to-school days, kids and grandkids and fur babies, family health challenges, and, of course, the aunt from hell. Cecily, I hope your conversation with your dad and stepmom went well. But your cousins are absolutely right--your aunt CANNOT get on that ship! ;)
On the self-care front, Monday's session with my shrink helped me realize something pretty obvious. Since my husband died I've been traveling much more often, and I expect that will continue. As a result, these past five months my weight has fluctuated more often than during the previous two years of maintenance. Even though I'm still able to lose my holiday/travel weight after returning home, I think it's time to tighten up how I eat while away from home. I don't like messing with my new lower set point that much. The changes will surely be simple ones like bread OR dessert (but not both), more veggies/fruits, LOTS more water, more exercise (10K steps EVERY day), etc.
BTW, I think often of something brilliant that Bonnie150 said a month or so ago: "Retirement is the great enabler." Yup. Time to take a fresh look at travel eating and tweak what I'm doing when I'm vacationing/holidaying/socializing/celebrating with friends.
As some of you saw on Facebook, yesterday was my husband's and my 22nd wedding anniversary. Yesterday morning the date looked familiar, but I was running pretty fast and didn't realize its significance. It's not the first time I'd forgotten our anniversary ... my sweetie pie never forgot and never missed giving me cards and flowers. But as I said on FB, I wasn't sad at all yesterday--just full of joy that we found and loved each other so much. :)
Today's theme: Life is precious, life is brief.

I'm glad you feel joy over the time with your husband. I'm a little sad: though I told DH it was our anniversary he can't remember. I have a card for him for later but he won't have one. I was always the one who forgot a card in the past!

Liz, I feel so sad for you. You're dealing with a much harder role than I had when I was caring for my husband.
And as you know, we cared for my mom (who had Alzheimer's) for 8 years in our home, so I understand as an Alzheimer's care-giver how heavy the burdens of that care are. Still ... my mother wasn't my life partner. That's got to be the hardest care-giver role of all.
You are so fortunate to have good resources in your community that support you. The groups you guys go to sound so helpful. I realize they don't fix anything. But I bet they are worth a lot to you.
Happy anniversary! And yes, you're right -- telling your husband stories is a way to share your old times together.

I have a fear that this may be the last year that he understands it at all. Hopefully I'm wrong. He keeps forgetting the occasion but at least remembers that we are married, the kids, etc.

Greetings Slim People
149.5 - I am not so slim but considering how many years I was well over 200 lbs it seems ok.
Liz happy anniversary. Have a great dinner. Get out your wedding photos for DH. Sorry you are getting a cold before your trip. DH recommends a product called "Ear Planes". A special ear plug for plane rides that gradually adjusts to pressure changes - not just your ordinary ear plugs. Personal experience tells my that flying with a cold can result in ear pain so you might check these out.
Hey Paula, I saw that you checked in yesterday. Good for you for living life, you skinny thing!
Peps, hug some puppies for me and try to find a quiet moment or two. Loving the facebook pictures of the "herd". Some real good lookers there.
BB of course you like to hang out with your husband. I like to hang out with mine. Even as he sleeps in his recliner. I hope your DH job situation stabilizes.
Not much to report here. The computer **** storm at the gallery continued and we finally got a new modem from the internet supplier and ordered some other new equipment which should help. One of our long term members who keeps the credit card for the business is experiencing some heath issues and I think its affecting her mind. Becoming ditzy. I think we are going to have to get someone else to take over her duties but it will be hard to tell her that.
DH has the eye doctor today to hopefully figure out why he can't see as well as he would like after cataract surgery last winter. He will likely come home with a new prescription. I will spend the rest of the morning pre cleaning for the cleaning lady.
Ann, I had one of those body fat tests once. It was the kind they put you in a dunk tank. But I think they can do it now with the bod pod. They did a resting metabolic rate and mine was so low my doctor didn't believe it. Hoping you like your results.
Well more coffee fortification before facing the house mess. Diane S
Diane, Thank you for suggesting I get the wedding photos out! I'm going to look for them and put them in a gift bag. Hopefully I can find them fairly easily as they have been boxed away since we moved full time to the Cape 4 years ago. In my mind I feel like I know where the boxes are (I hope my memory is correct).
