Good morning ! Shel... have you considered changing your avatar to a mountain goat or a fawn ? Your latest photos leave me in awe of the experiences you have and your athletic ability !! The path down the seemingly lifeless trees and along the winding ridge really spoke to me. The shot looking down to the lake and out to the snow capped range made me think about the power in stopping to breathe and appreciate what we have accomplished. Bright Line Eating also speaks to how fickle and counter productive most of our head voices can be and the brain science behind where/how they originate and how to identify, filter and begin to rewire. Bonnie, it is so awesome that ceramics takes you to your special place ! BB... the vacuum robot story.... OMG ! I, too, briefly considered, but with three cats and two dogs, the chances of it making two feet would be minimal ! Diane, hope your computer wows resolve ! Liz, can't wait to hear about the reception ! Peps.. can't wait to discuss Bright Line Eating. It is helpful to fully understand what I am willingly taking on when I choose not to eliminate sugar and flour. Thinking about Shel's audiobook made me think of something I had read/journaled...Refuse to let your inner voice make you a prisoner of your past.... It was a lesson, not a life sentence. Personal boot camp sounds exciting ! Eager to hear how puppy testing went ! Cecily, you'll love cruising around South America !! I did it in December/January and it was warm near the equator and snowy as we got closer to Antarctica ... tricky packing and deck time ! I, too, share your weight fluctuation superpower. When my lymphedema kicks in, which it hasn't in a LONG time KOW, a bump of 6-8 pounds can happen. Ann, your posts always leave me with an image of you with a knowing and serene gaze, whether mowing, enjoying porch time, or simply breathing in life around you.
We've partially "glamped" in the side yard, as we set up our RV. The bed is quite comfortable, and both DC and I are picky. We had to buy more pillows after one night, as the originals were too full. The first items in the kitchen were the coffee maker, coffee/filters/scoop, and wine. The first unanticipated challenge is that the RV had been winterized and there was some residual RV antifreeze to flush out of the lines. There are three TVs (main living area, bedroom, outside), and a slew of other bells and whistles with 12+ associated remotes that we have yet to begin to figure out. I have a pile of individual manuals/warranties to sort through. We got the full extended service plan, so we should be okay. I am losing weight because we've been so busy I'm forgetting to eat...not drinking enough either. I wasn't planning on finding a place for the scale on the shorter trips. I have visions of calibration issues or forgetting about it and jamming the slide out. I typically don't weigh on vacation...
Thought for the day.... Be happy with what you have while working for what you want !

Good morning, my friends. :)
Yesterday I had a last minute invitation to dinner with my sister's family and did well -- burger with a slice of cheese and raw veggies, but no bun, baked beans, French fries, etc.
Ordinarily, I'd not be as focused on my weight as I am today, but tomorrow is my annual appointment with my bariatric surgeon, and I wanted to be weigh in no more than last year's weight (135) on the doctor's scales. It's going to be a push to make that happen. Nonetheless, today I will eat 1,200 calories and drink LOTS of water.
These past few weeks I've increased my exercise and am now regularly walking 10K+ steps/day plus exercise classes, home yoga, and mowing. I'm still getting the steps in by walking shorter bursts many times a day, which gets me up and moving and reduces stiffness. Because "sitting is the new smoking." ;)
Big news in the Un-procrastination Department ... yesterday's decluttering task was a whole hour devoted (finally!) to creating 2018 financial files and filing (or throwing away) all the paperwork I had carefully stacked in piles on a kitchen counter -- junk mail, paid and unpaid bills, receipts, travel plans, and receipts. It's hard to convey adequately how beautiful to me that stretch of bare granite now looks! :)
Today will be home yoga, housework, laundry, more decluttering, walking with a friend, and phone calls with family. Tomorrow I go to The Big City for my monthly shrink appointment, my annual surgery follow-up visit, and lots of Big City errands.
Today's theme: I'm alive. :)
P.S. Cecily -- on which cruise line will you be sailing with your cousin and his husband?
P.P.S. DianeO - your glamping sounds so cool! BTW, I love your thought for the day: Be happy with what you have while working for what you want.

It's a Crystal Cruise. They described it as a floating Ritz... I've never gone on a cruise before, but they've done several Crystal ones and said they're hooked on them. I've been assured that I won't get seasick, but that's the only part that worries me!
A floating Ritz.....that does sound like something to get hooked on. I love all your travel plans, too!

Thanks, Cecily. They're right -- that's a super fancy, luxe cruise line.

Weight 121 (yuck), calories unlimited due to DS's birthmom's wedding spectacular. The Hall, which was kind of dumpy to start looked beautiful. Amazing transformation! The food was stupendous - scallops wrapped in bacon, bacon candy (?!), sushi, elaborate charcuterie, the best short ribs DS has ever made (with demiglace), pasta with homemade pesto, red velvet shark cake, ... I know I ate and drank more than would be safe on a planned day but didn't feel like I went overboard. So I'm calling it a win. DS went through some morning stress over lack of help, but it all turned out well and he was happy (as were the guests with the food and presentation). He even enlisted DD to help with the grill (a first). Picture below is dancing just after the ceremony (my pictures weren't great). The bride (DS's birthmom) is to the right in the off-white Grecian gown (gorgeous!). DS has his back to us with the whale hat turned backward and a chefs uniform (he didn't have time to change before the ceremony). He is dancing with his new birth step sister (birthmom's husbands daughter).
Next on deck is the neighborhood BBQ today. I'm not sure DH will make it to church today unless he goes late afternoon. He needs his sleep (he did dance like crazy yesterday to the fantastic band).
Oh and we met DD's new boyfriend. Seemed nice enough but he tries too hard to be friendly and helpful. I don't know why but it is kind of weird. I don't have a good vibe but I can't tell you why (intuition is flagging something but I don't know what)...
Have a super Sunday!

Liz, your family is so beautifully interwoven and kin in the way human beings have been kin since forever. Your family is a bit like my husband described his: "I don't have a family tree ... it's an orchard!"
The wedding celebration sounds like it was perfect. And the food ... divine!

Good morning!
Before I lose my copy let me paste this: Ted Talk: the math or weight loss. I loved this...it is a physicist's explanation of "where fat goes" when you lose it. Not too long, lots of visual props. ETA, it should be the math OF weight loss.
DianeO, I can not overstate how much I am enjoying your new toy! I find myself re-reading sentences involving pillows (wait...the original pillows were too full? Unacceptable! ooo, three TV's...that's enough for DH). I am rather stuck on the buffalo as an avatar for right now (as I sip coffee from a buffalo mug)....their resilience and survival still speak to me. I am probably more goat (complete with stink-eye) than fawn, tho :)
BB, how's LN? Hope you both are feeling better. I would throw that vacuum away but that's just how I am. B150, I'm enjoying your plunge into ceramics. I wish I had that in me. Ann, I loved your DH's description of family as an orchard. Liz, your pictures always! show your love of family. DianeS, I thought of you yesterday as I got my activity by being productive in the house.
Peps, I'm looking forward to your foray into boot camp. I am well familiar with plank jacks! David, give a baby (or two) a hug for me!
Paula, your new relationship's effect on food craving is fascinating! A natural inner-voice neutralizer.
We are all so much more than food cravers.
DH has been told by his GI guy that he needs to go gluten free for 2 months to see if this helps his IBS-like symptoms. That includes beer, people! Plus most (all?) of his processed food. I can easily see him dropping down into a healthy BMI.
I'm still thinking about Refuse to let your inner voice make you a prisoner of your past.
Enjoy the day,
Shel
