Bonnie, I'm so glad to hear that you don't have liver cancer and that you got early notice of what's going on and what it might develop into if not addressed. But, like Diane, I don't know the implications of living without a pancreas. I do know that KUMC is a great medical facility, having many relatives and friends on either side of the border who've received care there. Still, yesterday's news must have been disorienting with your world creaking/tilting on its axis. Warm hugs to you!
As follow-up, my friend still doesn't know if she has cancer. Her CAT scan results aren't back yet. I found out last night that the orthopedic surgeon who told her she had bone cancer merely looked at her MRI scans but didn't read the accompanying radiology report (written by an actual radiologist) which didn't even mention cancer. She's becoming more philosophical about it all and is emotionally preparing to receive a more trustworthy diagnosis when it comes, whatever that turns out to be.
This morning I'm thinking with love of each of you -- Liz getting ready for Europe; Diane O. sleeping in her new RV; Shel hiking on the Peninsula; Devon, Lesa, and Bonnie 150 tangling with an actual new school year while the rest of us are enjoying new-school-year hormones coursing through our over-achieving veins; Diane S. creating art; the US and Canadian West Coasters (hey, Carbon!) negotiating wildfires and smoke; Paula appreciating anew the preciousness of life; Cecily enjoying the last days of summer; David planting his fields; BB Bonnie "living the dream, which is how all my siblings described their child-rearing phases of life; all the other folks who drop in here occasionally to post; and the many puppies in our lives.
And now back to food because we love it ... I haven't mentioned veggies/fruits in a while, so thought I might. Yesterday's servings included a spicy black bean veggie burger, red onions, carrot chips, cherry tomatoes, greens/plantains/red and yellow peppers/onions (the Health Choice Cuban-inspired power bowl), a whole avocado (yum!), and for dessert one cup of a "fruit medley" of blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and blueberries (mixed with Fage 0% fat yogurt). Damn, good food is good!
Today looks to be a typical, lovely at-home Friday: meditation, reading, aquarobics, walking, errands, decluttering (making steady headway on that front), maybe some mowing (depends on the weather), more walking, a glass of wine, tasty and healthy food, a little Netflix and an early bedtime. It's not Venice or the beach, but it sounds wonderful to me.
Today's theme, finally ... T.G.I.F.!

Good morning ! Ann... loved your shout outs ! Bonnie, glad liver cancer is ruled out ! I, too, have no idea about what it will mean to be without a pancreas ... has to be a million times better than pancreatic cancer though! Cecily... how long are you in Michigan ? Liz.. packing/preparing for Europe will be right up your organizational alley. Paula.. it is great to hear the pep in your step. Devon.. 2:1 girls. Oh my ! Is their social maturity more on the immature or accelerated end of the spectrum ? I'm sure you are proactive and will guide the group through the mine fields ! Shel, here's to a smoke free WP !
I am joining some of you in decluttering, but we are making purchases like crazy too. RVs require queen short sheets and space saving versions of common items ( sink drainers, brooms, buckets etc.) as well as non-slide cupboard liners, organizational storage stuff.... and then the extra tools/equipment like a hose designated for potable water and a 30 AMP extension cord. The list goes on and on. After Chuck and I once again combined households over a year ago, we gave away many of our duplicate items. We really want the RV fully stocked with minimal items shared between the house and the RV. We will be living off site in the RV all or most of five of the next six weeks, with strategic 1-3 day stays back home in between. Three of the RV parks are privately owned, and we will be at a NYS Park twice. We'll visit the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon on the 4th adventure (1.5 hours away) and Syracuse (2.5 hours) for a VA medical appointment the first week in October. Hopefully my mom, sisters and brother can come visit us there ! Most RV parks close for the season by mid-October, so we'll have to travel to warmer climates after that.

First chuckle of the day (I had to go back to my post yesterday to see if I had mis-placed liver with pancreas -- nope) My liver is not involved. The cysts on my pancreas are constructed with the material that is cancer producing - thus, the need to remove. I am (in retrospect) very fortunate -go figure- to have had a partial bowel obstruction last November that sent me to the ER---and resulting imaging that incidentally revealed said cysts. I have no symptoms, and it is because I am "very healthy, vigorous and just middle aged" that sends me down this - loose the pancreas route ( because of the otherwise probable outcome). What I am told happens is that I will immediately be a type 1 diabetic, and some other necessary replacement meds (Pancreas is where our insulin and is manufactured).
Currently working on moving my mat over to the place where I can consider this as an opportunity to practice growing my faith (not in a Santa-Clause miraculous healing sort of way, but rather) in a God does live in my house and walks with me in love -is love- everyday kind of way.
Today I breath in gratitude and strength while meditating with eyes wide open.
PS--Ann, why am I not at your house eating out of your fridge??? YUMMMMMY!

Miss Bonnie-funny how life works. I'm glad that you are under the supervision of doctors. Between you and Paula, I think I'm convinced I need to schedule my endoscopy/colonoscopy.
Paula-so glad to hear you're embracing life. Life must be lived!
Weight: 166. So glad it's going down.
I'm feeling a little better. At least not so much pressure in ears/teeth.
DH gets in tonight and I think we're going to go see Crazy Rich Asians. Busy weekend with errands to run tomorrow and going to another couple's house for dinner, friend's birthday lunch on Sunday. And really wanting to get in some relaxing pool time. Cannot believe Labor Day is next weekend. How is summer almost over?! How do I have an almost 6 month old?! Gah!
