Whew! Back under my 100-pound loss mark. In the next few weeks I want to get back down to 133 and stay there for a while to get that set point working again.

My Year Four follow-up appointment with my surgeon is next Monday. At last year's annual follow-up appointment I weighed 135 on doctor's scales and would like to be at that weight next week.

I've made a new food discovery: Fage Greek plain yogurt sweetened with Torani French vanilla sugar-free syrup; it tastes much better than Dannon vanilla yogurt and has better macronutrients and fewer calories.

This morning I'm going back to yoga class for the first time in several weeks. Yesterday in the pool I heard that our yoga teacher (who's finally back after surgery in April) is tearing it up, so I expect to be sore the next few weeks.

Not much else to add this morning.

Today's theme: Be present.

Weight 120.4, calories 795.

I like Siggis full fat plain yogurt with Torani syrups, as well as Fage. DS likes Siggis so I tried it. It is super thick so it fills me up and definitely tastes better than Dannon flavored yogurt. I'll probably make my own again at some point. It was pretty easy (not as easy as cottage cheese, but still easy). I don't eat it daily and still have some Siggis so I'm going to wait until that's finished.

Our company arrived at dinner time last night and is still in bed. We went out to dinner but I just had a few scallops and no wine, hence the decent calorie count. We are going out tonight to a fish place tonight so my entree will be acceptable BUT they have this fantastic corn bread...

It is a little cloudy so far today so I have to mull over what to do today after I get my hair cut and highlighted.

Have a thrillingly good Tuesday!

Morning all!

Just a quick check in before work. Ann, good report at your follow up dr.s visit will surely be had.

As for yogurt, I have been making my own for so long that I prefer its taste to any commercial- have grown used to plain, tangy Greek- so, while I used to love love vanilla, lemon, and coffee flavored, it all just tastes too sweet.

Poop- timer just went off, so off I go.

Good morning,

While I am sorry that some of our members are literally back to school, I too like the feel of a fresh school year, full of possibility. Such a perfect time for a review of intentions, esp after I return from our beach trip with extra bagels in the house. Peps, so happy to see you devote even 5 minutes to meditation.

I am grumpy. The state is largely filled with smoke. It is really ok that I can't hike for a couple of days...I have a couple of hot spots on my foot that need to heal. But our atmosphere is surreal. Brownish grey. This is unlike our usual Seattle overcast. I am grateful that there is not an actual wild fire on our doorsteps. We have central air. My immediate family has the option not to spend time outside. So many others don't. I am grateful, but still grumpy.

ETA: daughter's cross country practice is canceled because "it is not safe to be outside." Understandable, but, geez.

The picture below is from today's forecast. The text that accompanied it says "smoke."

The sun is supposed to reappear on Thur.

Enough about that. BB, how is that lab of yours? (120 lbs!). Yes, having a vet pull up to lend a hand seems over the top lucky. I'm thinking Disney movie, with the vet played by Dick Van Dyke. I loved the pics of Justice as a sea dog and Fergus as .....well, I don't know what Fergus was. Chill dog. Maybe shops at the rec pot shops.

Ok, time to make use of my smokey time...the house is a calling....there is plenty to do.

Shel

Weight: 168.6. At least we're out of our brief (but scary) move into the 170s.

Thanks for concern about Marley. She spent the ENTIRE day under the bed. Hadn't budged when I got home. I even tried to coax her out again. Thankfully around dinnertime (and potty time!) she came out normal, like nothing had happened and gladly ate her food this morning. Idk what to think. A friend of mine who is a vet tech suggested that maybe the stress of getting groomed made her seize? She is a pretty skittish dog (especially for a lab). She acts like it's torture when I even get the leash out for a walk. At least until we actually get out the door on a walk. (Who am I kidding, I do the same thing when someone threatens to walk me, lol!). I've thought about a mobile groomer. But then I think...should I never walk her again? Hmm. But definitely a scary experience.

I have finally come to the conclusion that I basically hate yogurt. I have tried numerous flavors and numerous brands. But the only way I like yogurt is if it's sweet, and then loaded up with something crunchy like granola. I essentially have to mask it. I'm not really a fan of goopy foods anyway--I have to eat pudding warm. But on top of that, yogurt is so tangy. And yet I buy it and ceremoniously throw it out every week. The money I've spent on yogurt. So I think I'm giving up yogurt for good. That's one thing I finally learned after WLS: don't eat foods you don't like, stupid! I also feel this way about protein shakes and usually protein bars. I guess I'm just a rebel.

Very beautiful fallish like weather here! (By "fall" I mean a high of 85!). Becca is going to the zoo with the babysitter. jealous. I want to be the first to do all the firsts. But I'm glad she's so well cared for. Maybe if DH gets a solid job I'll revisit my own working arrangement. Too bad I cannot be two places at once. Grass is greener, yada yada.

I have to laugh because I LIVED on Fage 0% and SF Torani Syrups for at least a year after WLS. The orange syrup is quite good, as is watermelon, strawberry, and raspberry. It was one of the things I gave up a long time ago when I was trying to get food to stay in my system a little longer. I still find that things that are a thinner consistency dont' stay with me quite as long.

That IS funny to me, too. Doubtless, I'm "discovering" everyday with something that others actually knew about thousands of years ago. I once had a boss whose sharpest insult was: "He thinks he discovered America." ;)

Isn't it wonderful we all keep discovering things others already know? Look, the only reasons I'm doing meditation is because it works for people who have some of what I want (aka YOU, Diane O...) and my shrink is an advocate. I figure it can't hurt. I also kind of like it. I realize, too, that grooming affords me a type of "meditation" though it's probably more like "thinking time".

Weight: 164. Better. I'd like to be in the upper 150's I think.

I did really well yesterday until we went out to dinner and ate a lot of bread, then I came home and ate a "share size" bag of M&Ms I shouldn't have bought.

This morning I already did the hill program on the treadmill on level 8 and will endeavor to stay focused today.

BB, glad your dog seems to be acting normal again! That must have been really scary.

Ann, I need to get back in the habit of my daily yogurt. I seem to do best when I eat the same thing every morning... I really like what I make in the InstantPot.

Enjoy your Tuesdays everyone!

If I ever actually USE my Instant Pot, I too am going to make yogurt in it and see how I like it.
