Weight? Calories around 1425. Not horrible while visiting with friends.
We arrived at the lake just before 1 yesterday, had lunch and went out on the boat before showers came. While out there we saw an adult loon preening itself. I didn't really hear the loons calling this morning but that may be because I wasn't up until 7. Last night it cleared up nicely by dinner so Justice had some neighborhood walks (and he went out on the boat on the afternoon). So far he seems to like it here (what's not to like?).
Today there are supposed to be early showers then just cloudy for the rest of the day and tomorrow. I should be able to take Justice for a long walk partly around the lake by late morning.
Have a Super Saturday!

Last night's sleep hours (3) and yesterday's calories (1,861) are related. And they're both due to my watching some heavy Netflix episodes (Luther, Intelligence) last night. Live and re-learn. ;)
I continue to work on building healthy habits by starting small, improving and increasing only gradually, and doing the habit consistently (every day). This month I'm focusing on reading books.
I'm also enjoying being home very much. Being home isn't better than travel or vacations, but it's pretty wonderful in its alone-quiet-country-retreat way. I'm so grateful to have a home that contrasts in these ways with the going-out-into-the-world lifestyle I'm exploring this year.
I can't help but think of Alice in Wonderland as she struggled to learn how much of each side of the mushroom she could eat to avoid banging her chin on her feet or losing sight of her own shoulders far below.
Today's theme: Stay on my own mat. It's where my own work is done.

Good morning!
I'm typing from the WA coast. The beach house is technically beach front but like most of the one story houses around here, you can't SEE the ocean because of sand grass and just-barely-too-high sand dunes. But, the sounds of the waves are in my ears.
Ann, I just love your "stay on my own mat" intention. Immediately, I want to tell other people to stay on their own mat and of course that is exactly the opposite of "stay on my own mat". I've got problems ;)
BB, I finally felt a shift in the child care universe when DD had older friends who were driving and (on rare occasion) would transport her to an activity. So....this was about 1.5 years ago when she was 15 1/2. (Half years still matter!). And now that she has her own car, a new bittersweet stage has begun. I am no longer the chauffeur, privy to conversations that only come up while driving or (I imagine) in a confessional. My child has another universe and I am both proud of her full body plunge into it and scared as @!.
So....that leaves BB with about 15 more years of figuring things out :)
In this trip, I have finally allowed tentative conversations with DH about what retirement might look like. One could do worse than the Long Beach peninsula. It truly does have public Long Beach, much longer than I would walk in a day. There are enough amenities. I may need to rethink my litmus test of what nearby health care must look like. Most people don't live within a stones throw of a fancy pants hospital, so I would need to get over that to live somewhere like this.
Last evening's beach walk included an encounter with two beach bald eagles. Quite a treat. My camera doesn't have much of a zoom but I'll still post what I have. Plus, a few others of peeps and pups.
Embrace the day, Shel

Boy! Those pix look so much like where I spent this past week. You have my vote for y'all retiring on a beach, where I can visit you and walk those long stretches.
BTW, I'm already looking online for little houses on deserted beaches on the Gulf Coast to rent this winter for a week or two at a time, although it's hard to pick out a beach rental without having visited there before. No doubt I can figure it out.

'Morning, folks! (actually on the edge of afternoon, but....)-
Best of intentions the last few days to post, but the closest I came was to check in and lurk a bit. Somehow this group seems to be a gathering of very colorful, rich and unique planets connected in some special cosmic galaxy. We are truly explorers of the universe...sharing our individual experiences--navigating life. I so love the colors, sizes, smells shared.
Ann, oh, the truth found in the phrase "lessons re-learned". I interpret the re- as short for REAL- learning and real learning comes from repeated practicing of skills we aren't yet proficient in (proof of- as in - that is why there are mistakes made in the doing). There is no failure about it- only opportunity to get it right. There are an awful lot of those lessons that I have learned. It is NOT that I have forgotten- or am lazy, or incapable of mastering the skill, it IS that I have not yet Really learned because I am not consistently getting it right. Must need more practice at it....It is when I am afraid to fail that the opportunity to really learn (it) well is lost and I remain stuck. I babble. It takes courage to go out there and fail in the hopes of REALGROWTH. You (all) are my examples and demonstrators of that courage- and not just as regards WL.
