The rain continues, as do the flash flood warnings. Our home should be fine but many areas are completely inundated and they are experiencing landslides in steep areas around the lake. Many roads are closed due to standing water and/or compromised roads, so venturing out isn't a great idea.
Peanut butter pretzels .... there was a time I would have packed that jar away in two days ! That and the mention of shrimp and grits (love, love) made me think of a recent breakfast out. We typically ask for a little serving of peanut butter, and I find if I put less than a tablespoon on toast, it makes me very content with one egg and no potato. DH had grits this particular day and I used to love buttered grits. I felt it was a waste of space to have any grits but really wanted a spoonful. I decided to forgo the toast and try my tbsp of peanut butter with the spoonful of grits. Not bad...not something I need to do any time soon, though !
Some Facebook comments...Miss Bonnie.... awesome photos ! You are so cute in those skinny jeans ! BB, glad your trip went well and that you encountered responsive travelers ! Liz, has Paul painted before ? That still life was impressive !!! Dave, those babies are the sweetest and the pure joy radiates from you !!! Paula, your selfie was so cute and I love your son's ongoing comments on many of your posts. Peps...keep those puppies coming !!! So vibrant and adorable !!

Weight 120.2, calories 1254. It is super muggy this morning (my AC has been on more days than ever this summer - that's pushing up the electricity cost!).
Today will include a walk or the beach, doing errands, and figuring out how to organize my closet shelves. I thought finding shelf dividers would be easy but not so on the Home Depot or Lowe's websites. It drives me crazy finding things on my shelf where I have my sweatshirts, tanks and workout stuff. I figured adding vertical dividers would help me get it a bit more organized. I need to do the same in DH's closet as he uses it as a dumping ground these days (his bureau drawers have to be constantly straightened as well).
DH (and I) have no artistic talent. He did the painting at a "Memory Cafe", which we attend once a month. The women who ran the class specialize in working with people who are memory or cognitively impaired. It is like those parties people go to where they paint and sip wine, but the steps are much simpler and each painter works with a partner who helps guide their hand when necessary. The instructors will come to people's homes and do it individually too. DH enjoyed it and was happy with his result. For those not on FB, here is "Summer Blue":
Have a talented Tuesday!

Ok, the man had step by step instructions. I am still very VERY impressed. Suddenly, I think I need to go to a sip and paint place.

BTW, I just found a DIY for shelf dividers for wire shelving - cut more of the wire shelving and use cable ties to attach them (the lip is the bottom)! Now I need to find my wire shelving parts (I did have a cutter, caps for ends, and cable ties somewhere...).

Good morning!
I love those pics of David's grandkids....particularly if PopPop is involved. Those two cousins are going to have so much fun.
The peanut butter pretzels survived. But, in the last 2 minutes when I was alone (of course, alone) I had 4-5. This is ok from a calorie standpoint but the Alone piece tells me that it was from a not so healthy side of me. In order for me to eat those in front of causal co-workers, I would have to talk myself thru it like a play by play announcer. By the way, that container had 56 servings in there. 56!
Air quality is bad in Seattle.... BC wild fire smoke is sitting on top of us. We are hoping it will clear out later today. DianeO, hope the predictions are wrong for your area.
DianeS, my desk is messy....but it is hidden in my computer.
Have a fab day, Shel

Cecily- great music. Lucky you- Dixie Creole is especially wonderful experienced live. Sent me into the massive historical vinyl vault searching for Doug Kershaw and Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks.
I hope the buzzy bee welts are calming down. OUch!!! It seems to me that this year, both coasts have been hit very harshly when it comes to weather related trials. We've just experienced an extended dry period and some heat which is not unusual in this area. I am putting my hopes that my favorite season--Fall--brings weather sanity and relief.
Shel, Isolated, private eating is a warning sign for me, too. Let's me know that I am equating certain behaviors with being good and bad. Eating in secret, things I would never eat in public, is an old tape that results in guilty bad behavior- bad bonnie feelings associated.
Have a better than average- no- have a Terrific Tuesday!

Diane O. thanks for pointing out FB to get caught up on. Liz loved that painting! And David you look so comfy Pop Pop.
Miss Bonnie-you skinny thing!
Devon-deep breath--I'm sure you'll get it all done.
Yesterday's back on the wagon went pretty well. I think I was mentally in the right place. I didn't feel overwhelmingly hungry or resistant about it. Preparation was also key. I did deviate a little from my plan as I went out to lunch (and eating what I brought today instead). I'll post my meal plan for accountability.
B: carb watch tortilla with 2 Tbs. shredded cheddar, 1 scrambled egg, 1 oz. soy chorizo, coffee w/ ff half and half
L: Approximately 4oz. grilled chicken breast, side of green beans
S: large sliced apple with rd fat cheese stick
D: thai green curry chicken in the crockpot with 1/2 c. rice
D: mini drumstick cone...and then middle of the night Becca woke me up and I got 2 chips ahoy (leftover from a party--must go in trash!!) doh. But counting them anyway
Calories: 1342. Definitely better than usual.
Today we will get more rain. I looove the rain
Oh, I keep meaning to mention this other thing. My aunt has gone vegan and it's strangely affecting my attitude. I even had a nightmare about it. I know this is way bizzarro which is why I bring it up. I eat with my aunt and uncle max of 12 times a year. We're pretty close though. She has ALWAYS struggled with her weight. She'll be on Weigh****chers one moment and have lost 40lbs., and the next regained it. It makes me really sad. She would've been a perfect candidate for WLS. She has sleep apnea. Not sure if diabetic or not.
Personally I think veganism is not so good of an idea. In fact, the person who inspired her to go vegan is currently in the hospital for severe anemia. So I think that veganism is a good and understandable idea for someone who has strongly-held convictions about eating animal products once they have thoroughly researched/sought the help of a nutritionist to make sure they are meeting their nutritional needs. It's NOT a good fad diet. But it's becoming that way. I've even seen it popping up all over the food vlogs I follow. It's also a truism that it is very, very hard to be vegan in Oklahoma. It is almost impossible to eat at non-vegan restaurants (my vegetarian friend finds it difficult enough!)
On the other hand, I think it's a very good idea to use more fruits and veggies, and whole grains and consume less red meat.
But all that aside, why does it bother ME?! It's her life! I don't understand what insecurity of mine this must be unnerving to cause such a reaction?!

I find self-imposed food restrictions with my friends annoying too. Like my Jewish-convert friend who claims to not eat shrimp because it's not kosher, but will eat bacon. But I am very accepting of a family member who is a pescatarian. He also never draws attention to it. Maybe it's just the "big deal" making that irritates me?? Because it feels like a judgment of how I eat?
