Just did a quick skim. This has been a particularly rich week for profound thinking !! The beat goes on ! So inspiring !

Atlas is now a certified Service Dog !! He finished testing today, simulating curling up small at the bulkhead of a plane, staying on his "spot" (a folded beach towel) under a restaurant table for twenty minutes while leaving food that was dropped in his vicinity, and riding an elevator getting in last and waiting politely for people to exit before entering. He'd already tested on the other items. It is hard to remember he is only ten months old AND a lab, which make his focus and devotion all the more remarkable. We have a veritable diaper bag of his things we now travel with (treat puzzle chew toys, water/bowl, towel, paper towels, wipes etc.) ... so proud of him and DH.

Age: 64; 5' 5"; High weight: 345; Start weight: 271 (01/05/15); Surgery weight: 218 (05/27/15); Pre-Op (-53); M 1 (-18); M 2 (-1.5); M 3 (-13.5 ); M 4 (-13); M 5 (- 8); M 6 (-12) M 7 (-5, Xmas); M 8 (- 9) Under surgeon's goal and REACHED HEALTHY BMI 12/07/15!! Diane, big kudos to Atlas and his trainers! His skilz are exceedingly impressive. Heck, I couldn't sit under a restaurant table with "food in the vicinity" and leave it alone. Really, I couldn't.

Yay Atlas. Ann I too could not remain under a table and not eat dropped food. Good job all. Remarkable for a young dog. 10 month old dogs are like teenagers!! ds

Diane, what an accomplishment for all of you, including Sadie, of course! What a wonderful thing for the whole family. I am so impressed with your training ability and Atlas's capacity to be trained.

Amen to that! The training involved - especially with such a young pup - strikes awe!
