Weight 119.2, calories 697. HOT, HOT, HOT here! It was 90 yesterday which is very unusual on Cape Cod (probably the same today). There was no breeze. We had a Alzheimer's Support meeting in the middle of the day so couldn't make it to the ocean beach, but thank goodness for the pond. I just can't stay inside all day.

I signed up for a 6 week "Savvy Caretaker" course this fall. Some of the other people in our support group had taken it and felt it was very helpful. DH was better yesterday (could speak and function a little more), so that was good.

I made my second batch of cottage cheese in the IP yesterday and it was better than the first, but I still want to tweak it a bit. Very simple though. Maybe 5 minutes of actually doing anything, with about 2 hours of waiting. That's my kind of cooking!

Today we have to go to Boston for the final quick physical check after the trial. If it wasn't going to be in the upper 90's there we might have stayed and done something, but Boston is not a good place to be when it is this hot. I hope we will be back on the Cape and at the beach by 2.

Oh, and we finally got a check from MIL's estate (though there will be one final small distribution as apparently the estate taxes still need to be paid).

Have a thoughtfully good Tuesday!

Good morning

Diane glad that you went and came back safely. And for all other travellers the same thing.

Again echoing the wish for today. Happy Tuesday.

Weight 163. Well that escalated quickly...

A/C install continues. They said they might finish today. So exciting.

Had a panicky evening last night when my dad's two feral dogs stole Fergie's Previcox pain meds off the counter and tore the bottle apart. I couldn't remember how many were in there to figure out how many they might have eaten and was digging through the grass (they ran outside with it) to try to find the remnants. I asked my dad if he thought I should try to get them to throw up, but he said not to worry. Easy for him to say! I'm dogsitting while he's on a trip. They were fine this morning, by the way. Little stinkers. Not to mention a bottle of that stuff is like $75 and they are in little pieces now.

Ferg seems to be feeling better after his bug yesterday, knock on wood. These dogs are wearing me out!

It seems to be a gorgeous day here. I'll have to find a good way to spend it! Hope you all have good days... stay cool!

I accidently gave my precious poodle my muscle relaxer instead of his antibotic. It was somewhat traumatic for both of us. He was fine, though. Same said dog ate jalapeño peppers that were on my plate I'd left on an end table one evening. He gave them back to me in the middle of the night!!!

Barkley is the counter thief who procured the bottle, but I think Gracie was the consumer of the pills. She survived eating a block of rat poison last summer, so I think her stomach is lined with steel!

It's going to be a HOT 98 degrees today. I'm thankful for a/c. Hope your installation is done today, Cecily.

Just to clarify, my "pot garden" is a technically a container garden with flowers. However, Oklahoma is moving towards pot gardens.

I've already had some yoga time this morning. I'm shopping with my in-laws for school supplies. They belong to a group that donates money and I get to spend it on the kiddos at my school. Massage at 5!

Welcome home Devon and Diane!

Well, well, well.... Should I be surprised my weight hit an all new high today after being in GA in the humidity (though honestly, I was mostly in AC, except for Saturday) and not good hydration, no fruit, hardly any veggies and lots of salty food? Probably not.

I also forgot to take my daily vitamins and meds with me. Probably due to my haste leaving late on Friday. So by yesterday my GERD was in fine form. I started taking Zantac on Sunday, but it doesn't do the same trick that Protonix does. GERD is the very negative side effect of VSG for me. Luckily, it is easily controlled with a singe does of Protonix daily. Without the Protonix, I am miserable.

I am excited for my training session tonight. It'll be a good change. I feel it in my gut.

Puppies are in their new pen in the bedroom. Sage is unsure about the change, as is Blue. Hoping they rally today.

Liz, I don't know how you manage on so few calories. I simply would feel so deprived and HUNGRY on so few calories. Then again, I lose weight on 1800 calories per day. Could be the difference.

Yeah, I gain weight on 1400 sadly. But the very low calories yesterday and the day before were a product of cranky innards as much as anything...

Greetings Tuesday Terrifics

149.5 today. Down a half from dog show trip weight. Devon is so right - dog shows cause weight gain as does any travel even though I for one am more active on such events. It was so hot where we were I just could not get enough water. Glad to be home in the cool foggy land of Lala.

Sorry Liz and others that you have such heat in the east. Its the new normal. Our planet is going to hell literally. I feel so helpless. Glad the estate paid out. We have a little residual coming from my mom pretty soon. And the caretaker course sounds like such a great idea! Best to learn from experts and those who traveled the road before.

LOL Steph Plum, I really thought you had a "pot" garden. Where we live, so many people do now that its legal - and even when it wasn't. Driving back from dog shows we saw some big commercial ones. If it would keep me from eating I would use the stuff but of course it has the opposite effect.

Dogs stealing pills!!! Rascals. Once I went to my doctor and he came in the room and shut the door laughing. He said his last patient had taken her dogs pills! Once my pup Tiger ate a tea bag right in front of me. I induced vomiting and he ralphed it up. He also once stole and ate the better part of a pound of butter. No ill effects. Shel I bet you have some funny (and harrowing) pill mix up stories. A vet pharmacy is giving free meds to pets from families who lost their homes in the fires. Nice. Fires still burning and a long ways until containment.

Anybody know a good way to fix pork chops? Store had some good looking ones but I usually just cook them in a pan on the stove and they are always the same. Whats a good low sugar barbecue sauce?

Well on to my second cup of coffee and then to gallery duties, studio fun and games and early dinner. Cheers all. Diane S

Had some decent stuff from the kiln yesterday so I will take it to the gallery this morning. With all the inland heat people are flocking to the coast to escape. Means $$ for the Trinidad gallery.

You made me giggle!! I might one day have a "pot garden"...ya never know! I truly am applying for my license for the medical.

Saucy Pork Chops

4 4oz pork chops lean

1C chopped onions

1C fat free cream of mushroom soup

3T ketchup

3T Worcestershire

Place Pork Chops in an oven-safe baking dish or the Crock Pot. Season with salt and pepper as desired. Mix the other ingredients together in a small bowl and pour over chops. If using the oven, bake at 350 degrees for one hour. If using the crock pot, cook on low for 8 hours.
