Four pounds increase in three days. Two four hour car rides, lots of sitting, not enough water, no bathroom time, and no way 10,500 additional calories, so I'll get lots of exercise (mowing) and water in today, eat like a thin person, and take another look tomorrow. I am feeling shame about how quickly I fell victim to the comfort baked goods trap, but every time I go there I try to focus on what I can learn and move on. I haven't experienced full on shame in a long time. The smells and sight of caring volunteer bakers pushing fresh brownies and cookies to comfort sucked me right in.

Enough of that...looking forward to my routine activities and eating.

Routine is good, especially in regards to exercise and eating.

Weight 118.2, calories 1728. We took DS's birthmother and fiancé out to dinner last night at a restaurant on the harbor. It was very enjoyable but many calories were consumed at dinner and afterwards at home. Back on the routine wagon today for me!

I don't know what we will be doing today. It looks like another warm, muggy day, but there may be showers. If I get my butt in gear I might take Justice to the "knob", a sanctuary with paths leading to a beach and beautiful water views which also allows dogs (it was one of the conditions the woman who donated the land made). There isn't a lot of parking though so I'd really have to go early on a weekend. Maybe tomorrow if it isn't as damp (we had an early shower so it is kind of drippy right now).

Have a satisfying Saturday!

Water, beach, dogs...When I lived on Lake Michigan (in the stone age days when there were no such prohibitions against having a dog anywhere on the lake), I had a hound mix (Truman) who absolutely loved-loved the beach and the water. His favorite activity?---finding absolutely the most dead, disgustingly foul smelling and slimy fish he could to roll in. Doggie heaven. Happened EVERY time. P-U!

Oh yeah, I think they all love rolling in smelly stuff! I've had to wash dogs after that happens and it is not fun.

She leaves in 18 minutes! Not like I'm counting or anything...

And today I will do nothing but relax in silence. Can't wait.

Enjoy your Saturdays, all!

Caring + volunteer + bakers + comfort foods = Oxymoron. Their intentions are so good--our needs in those times are great and real...easy hole to fall into. (At least in my experience)

Shame is a hard sentence to impose on ourselves- for me, when applied to my behaviors seems a self condemnation and declaration of a behavior or action I cannot fix ie. damnation. Guilt, on the other hand, simply states a fact-something I've done BUT can change if I work at it. I try (not always successfully) to eliminate that word from my vocabulary. I like, rather than shame, what you said about "focus on what I can learn and move on" - and, yes, we can!

Pinned up last skirt to be hemmed, then off to iron a pile of material grown to the size of Mount Everest. Later, am experimenting with home made cracker making. Tomorrow is 5th Sunday church salad lunch. I cannot compete with those wonderfully tasting and beautifully presented dishes some of those women bring in, so am going to try a crispy accompaniment to said beauties.

Smiles to all!

I like your musings on shame vs guilt.

Hemming, ironing and cracker-making. We live on different planets.

I do understand church food events, tho!

Cracker making Bonnie150? You are brave and industrious. What I take to such events are those cheese crisps made in the microwave on parchment. Everyone loves them and they have no idea how little work they take. My secret weapon. ds
