Weight 118.2, calories 792.

I went to my WLS in person monthly support group last night. They asked if I would consider becoming a mentor (training is September 24). I am going to ask more about what is involved, but I think it is mostly to be there via phone for questions/support, so I may do it.

I made yogurt in my instant pot yesterday (easy version with Fairlife milk, so no boiling needed to start it). I just had 1/2 cup and it is pretty good and really was simple to make. So I may stop buying the pre-made stuff.

Today it is cloudy and muggy so I need to figure out something to do with DH. Maybe a museum somewhere... Oh yeah, and I have to get my car inspected. I can't believe the end of July is next week!

Have a thoughtful Thursday!

And that ^^^^, ladies and germs, is what a Colton's Steakhouse Bacon Cheeseburger and a few fries can do to your daily macronutrients. Look at those impressive fat grams! ;) It tasted pretty good, too. :)

I had a lovely day yesterday hanging out with one of my sisters who's been struggling with menopause, fibromyalgia, and child rearing in recent years. We talked a lot about being authentic and transparent with those we love the most. And how it's easy not to listen well or to share our changing perspectives with those we love the most. And we laughed a bunch. It was a wonderful day.

I have no epiphanies to share today about intuitive eating. I'm still enduring home repairs, dealing with insurance forms, paying bills, cleaning house, and getting ready for weekend company. It's one of those regular days I won't remember, amidst the fancy-dancy days I turn into memories. And that's OK. :)

BTW, I don't talk about this much, but I've been meditating most mornings for almost two years now, and it has become something I very much enjoy, benefit from, and miss when I don't do it. I look back on how my daily rhythms are so different these days from what they were five years ago.

Today's theme: Change takes a while.

My grandmother shared a home with 2 of her sisters in late retirement- I would just about kill to be able to have that experience with mine..(and DH included, too, of course). Missing sisters. Aren't they just wonderful?!

If DH goes before me, that's my plan.

My sister and I have always been thick as thieves. Marriage kind of got in the way of that. But I can see us really being close again when we're older.

You'd make a terrific mentor, Liz! And I love the InstantPot Fairlife yogurt too. So good and so easy. What kind of Fairlife do you use? I use the whole milk. I also like that you can use just a few tablespoons of your last batch to start the next batch so you don't have to buy a starter container of yogurt other than the first time.

The aunt was pretty good yesterday, thank goodness. Today my dad comes back from Mayo. He was there for more biopsies. He had several spots in his bladder removed and one in his ureter (tube to the bladder from his remaining kidney). That last one isn't good news as it's upstream from the bladder and the cancer is usually spread downstream by urine. We'll know more in about 5 days when the biopsies come back.

Fergie heads to the groomer this afternoon. He's not going to like it! But he'll look great.

Anyone else struggle with sleeping with bony knees? I bought a knee pillow from Amazon because I hate that bone on bone feeling sleeping on my side. It slides onto one leg so when you turn, you don't have to reposition it. Most knee pillows are so wide, it seems like they woukd be uncomfortable. This one is thin, but padded enough. I was so bummed to see that the stitching came undone along part of a seam the first night. But it'll be easy to fix and the idea and the way it feels is great.

Have a good Thursday, all!

I used the fat-free for the first batch but I will probably try it with more fat next time. Good, but will probably be even better.

I used to love sleeping on my side and yes sometimes a pillow was helpful but now my shoulders don't really allow me to be on my side very long.

Pillows- ha--DH claims I love to snuggle more with my many pillows than him! I use them to keep my spine and hips aligned as well as those bony knees apart. Come to think of it, those pillows do make for a bit of a wall..

Glad to hear things are improving with your aunt. Or maybe you're just getting used to it?!

Hello all!

Liz, you would be a GREAT mentor!!! What a good concept in general. Ann, I'm listening to a new book that I think is going to hope might move me into a regular meditation practice. I think some of the thoughts you had for your sister fit right into all that, too. Cecily, I have done various pillow things over time for aches and pains but haven't needed anything recently.

M150 and Peps, I could have used you theater majors to break into song and dance in the high meadows of my hike, yesterday. (I literally thought of you both.). And DianeS, you don't need no stinkin' dawn awakenings to enjoy beautiful views. I'm still hoping that at some point I could drag DH down there. He wants water views, I want land to enjoy. You have both. Paula, I see you peaking in and want you to know I am thinking about you, this first week back to work. You must be exhausted. DianeO, how is that new canoe??? And I enjoyed your most recent story about your and Sadie's volunteer work. There are so many wonderful people out there. Travelr --- LOVED those pics. So, motivating. David, yesterday I thought "I bet David would know what animal this tuft of hair *** still might take a pic of it, I think I threw it in the back of my car.)

Oh, need to get to work. Hot in Seattle today. Lily white legs, knees and elbows everywhere! Our own seasonal show.

ETA: Bonnie, enjoyed your food training comments, too! Can't wait to see what you and Peps come up with

Few more pics below....more later, Shel

I'm here (today) and yes, work has tired me out. I stayed in bed until 9:30 today - unheard of!!! Sleep has been weird and for some reason I seem to be needing more zzzzzzzzzz's. I think I recall Ann going through a similar stretch after she lost her DH.

Liz, the mentoring gig sounds right up your alley! You will do a wonderful job! You could also get a gig as a social planner - you plan and do more activities than anyone I know!!

Cecily, sorry to hear about the upstream potential problem for your Dad. All I can say is cancer SUCKS. Glad your days with your aunt are numbered! Yikes!

Shel, beautiful pics as always. I had laugh at you collecting a tuft of animal hair and throwing it in your car to identify later. At first I thought, how odd and then I realized that is exactly something I would do! Maybe we are both a couple of odd ducks!

Loved the pics of active travelher the other day. You are so cute and *****y!

I read the posts most days (but not all) but don't always have the oooomph to post anything.

I've just joined a few meetup.com groups in my area - one for photography and another for hiking and outdoor adventures. Seems like a good idea to connect with local people that share some same interests.

Emma dog (the black one) has taken to DS#1. I have lost a sleeping partner. I wonder if she needed to make the change because of Ben not being there? Bella (the white one) is more clingy than ever and is by my side most of the time. Right now she is curled up in a chair beside me in the office.
